Chapter 313 An Interesting Find
Chapter 313 An Interesting Find
When Moon returned to the First Sanctuary, he found the Glassy Group base operating smoothly under new management. The organization had dispatched people to restore order, and there were no signs of ongoing attacks against the facility.
Base residents were gradually returning as word spread about the successful reclamation. These residents were also returning in order to seek refuge from the sudden battle that had erupted on Earth.
As Moon prepared to travel toward his next hunting destination, he made sure to plan a route that included visiting another base along the way. Given the scale and coordination of the unknown organization’s attack, they were most likely launching attacks across multiple regions simultaneously in an attempt to seize massive territorial control.
“I could definitely take advantage of this chaos to accumulate more S-rank kills,” Moon mused. “This organization appears to have large numbers of S-Rankers under its command.”
As his Direhorse carried him across the varied sanctuary terrain, Moon checked on Mirage’s condition within his Beast Taming Space.
‘Still deep in your slumber… when are you going to wake up, partner?’
A soft sigh escaped his lips as he left his companion undisturbed, resisting the urge to wake him up. Such interference could potentially compromise whatever enhancements Mirage was developing, Moon wasn’t stupid enough to do that.
‘You’d better be stronger after all this rest,’ Moon couldn’t help but think wryly.
During the lengthy journey ahead, Moon decided to make productive use of his travel time by examining the various storage rings he’d collected from his recent kills.
Since sanctuary barriers prevented him from bringing Second Order beings or equipment into the First Sanctuary, Moon didn’t possess the storage rings from the Evolvers he’d killed—he gave them to Selene to store.
However, his collection from awakener-level opponents contained many treasures worth checking out.
“Let’s see what those two S-Rankers were carrying,” Moon muttered, accessing the unbound storage ring that had belonged to the Swordmaster.
The anticipation of discovering valuable equipment, rare materials, or useful intelligence made the long journey more engaging while he continued toward his next destination.
During his searching, several beasts attempted to ambush Moon from concealed positions along the travel route. Without breaking concentration from his inventory examination, Moon casually flicked his hand, summoning sharp wind blades that tore through the attacking creatures and killed them instantly.
His searching proved quite profitable. The Swordmaster had maintained several A-rank backup swords in his storage—likely replacements for his primary S-rank weapon in case of damage or loss during their campaigns.
The warrior had also stockpiled numerous stamina and mana restoration potions plus nearly a million dollars worth of cores.
“Not a bad haul,” Moon calculated aloud. “If I keep the S-rank sword for potential use and sell everything else, I should be able to generate approximately two million dollars in profit.”
As he continued examining the collected items more thoroughly, something unusual caught his attention.
“Wait, what’s this?”
Moon stared at a small bone in his palm, confusion evident on his face. He couldn’t understand why an S-rank swordsman would carry what appeared to be a random bone fragment in his storage ring.
The bone clearly wasn’t human in origin and measured roughly finger-length. Nothing about its appearance seemed particularly striking—it looked like a completely ordinary bone.
After brief examination, Moon stored it back in the ring and moved on to investigate the ice mage’s possessions.
“It would have been valuable to copy his class skills, but there simply wasn’t time during that battle,” Moon sighed with mild regret.
The Ice Mage’s storage ring contained items and currency worth approximately three million dollars total. The spellcaster had also possessed an elemental S-rank staff with pure water affinity. After some consideration, Moon decided to sell that weapon since his current Staff of Fire and Water provided superior versatility.
But once again, he discovered something that made his brows furrow with concern.
“Another bone… almost identical to the first one.”
Moon’s mind immediately began sending alarm signals. This was definitely no longer coincidence. For two of the most powerful attackers to possess identical mysterious bones suggested significant importance behind these objects.
No longer treating it as random debris, Moon halted his Direhorse and dismounted to conduct proper investigation.
[??? Bone]
[Rank: ???]
[Details: The bone of ???. It has several effects such as ???] Staring at the details he gained from using [Appraisal], Moon was no longer uncertain about its mysteriousness. Even his epic-rank skill was unable to discern its properties, just like it was unable to discern the properties of the Supreme Core of the Three Tailed Illusion Fox.
“This might be the bone of a supreme creature, or it might be a very powerful artifact…” Moon muttered.
To test its strength, he created a makeshift stone table using earth element and carefully placed one bone on its surface. Drawing his sword, Moon struck downward with approximately one-quarter of his physical strength.
Whoosh!
As he expected, both the reinforced table and the bone remained completely undamaged.
“Interesting.”
Moon decided to increase the force, positioning himself properly before unleashing a strike with half his maximum physical power.
The devastating blow landed with enough force to easily kill an A-rank beast, yet when he looked at it—
“There isn’t even a scratch on it…”
“Time to go all out,” Moon began activating [Bird Dance] and [Heaviness] channeling his absolute maximum physical capabilities into a single powerful strike.
WHOOSH! The stone table he had conjured shattered completely under the tremendous force, unable to withstand his full power output. Yet despite the overwhelming destruction around it, the bone remained perfectly intact without the slightest mark or damage.
“This bone is more durable than S-rank creatures,” Moon concluded with growing fascination and concern.
Whatever these objects were, they clearly possessed properties that made them much stronger than normal materials. The fact that the mysterious organization’s elite’s all carried them suggested they served some crucial purpose in their overall plan.
Moon carefully stored one of the bones in his storage ring, and kept the other in his pocket, recognizing that he’d discovered something potentially far more important than the simple loot from defeated enemies.
“I need to research this more…” Moon muttered thoughtfully as he guided the Direhorse towards his next destination.
Looking at the bone in his hand, Moon had become very interested in the organization and their hidden goal. Previously, he had just took them as a random group trying to take control, but things appeared deeper than he had thought.
