Chapter 280 Corin's Class, The Nest
Chapter 280 Corin’s Class, The Nest
Everyone else in the room grew quiet, assuming Moon was considering whether he could handle so many dangerous creatures simultaneously.
In reality, Moon was mentally reviewing the location relative to his planned route toward the Crimson Wasteland.
‘It’s directly on my path anyway. I can clear the nest and continue traveling without any detour. This is essentially free money.’
“Alright, I’ll do it. But there’s no need to send anyone with me—I’ll clear it myself. You can expect the threat eliminated within two hours of my departure from the base. I’ll leave your third of the loot in the nest itself for convenient collection.”
Although he had given them a period of two hours, Moon estimated that the nest wouldn’t take him more than ten minutes even if complications occurred. He had chosen two hours simply to make his power vague, and difficult to predict.
Relief was visible on every face around the table. They were all surprised that Moon was not only going to clear it alone, but in mere hours.
“Excellent! Thank you so much,” the base lord said gratefully, his face lighting up considerably, “Is there anything you need to know about these creatures?”
“What type of beasts are they, exactly?” Moon asked.
“Black ants, approximately two meters in length each. They have incredibly powerful carapaces that can deflect most weapons below A-Rank, and they hit like freight trucks. Even our strongest fighters struggle with their physical power.”
Moon saw an opportunity and seized it.
“Could you demonstrate how strong their attacks typically are? I’d like to understand what I’m facing.”
The base lord nodded readily. “Certainly. My own attack strength is approximately 1.5 times stronger than these ants in general with a few outliers that are similar to my attack power, so this should give you a good reference point.”
Moon nodded, looking at the base lord with discerning eyes.
The base lord activated his skill, mana radiating from his massive body.
At that exact moment, Moon activated his class copying ability, absorbing the base lord’s entire skill set and class.
Information flooded Moon’s eyes as he analyzed what he’d acquired.
‘Oh, that’s quite an interesting class indeed.’
The demonstration continued, but Moon had already gained exactly what he’d hoped for from this encounter—a new powerful class to experiment with, plus a profitable contract that aligned perfectly with his travel plans.
♢♢♢♢
On his way towards the nest of ants, Moon couldn’t help but smile looking at his new class. It was quite useful, with good potential applications.
[Class Slot {1/1}]
[Class: Golem]
[Skills: Stone Clasp, Heaviness] [Duration: 24 hours]
—
[Stone Clasp] [Rank: Uncommon] [Proficiency: 0%]
[Details: Your hands gain crushing strength, allowing you to firmly seize weapons, enemies, or objects with great force ]
—
[Heaviness] [Rank: Uncommon]
[Proficiency: 0%] [Details: You have great understanding of your body, turning it into a living weapon. You are able to apply your weight behind attacks with ease and skill. You can increase your bodyweight by 10%]
“They are really useful, they cover some of my weaknesses, and after comprehending them I can evolve them to rare rank too.” Moon’s smile widened.
His smile widened, he was no longer concerned about whether he’d have sufficient lives to eventually evolve one of his skills to Legendary rank. Moon continued traveling with Mirage toward their destination, both rider and mount darting across the varied terrain.
When they came within a few kilometers of the reported nest location, Moon encountered his first victim.
A single black ant was trudging along the landscape, carrying an enormous carcass over its head that was nearly twice the creature’s own size.
It was perfect timing for testing his new abilities against an opponent, and to improve them.
Moon leaped from Mirage’s back and landed directly on top of the ant with explosive force, immediately activating [Heaviness] as he made contact.
The skill’s proficiency had already reached 20% during his brief practice while traveling, and his current bodyweight increase had climbed to 30%—a decent improvement that added some impact force to his attacks.
BAM!
The ant staggered under Moon’s attack, but it didn’t immediately collapse, its powerful exoskeleton and muscular structure designed to handle tremendous loads.
The body it was carrying fell to the side with a thud.
Both ignored it, focused on each other. Moon’s face held a grin, whilst the ant’s antenna’s vibrated subtly, its expression wary of the human.
Moon charged towards it, closing the distance within a heartbeat. Looking at Moon that had appeared before its face, the ant slashed at him with its razor-like arms, attempting to disembowel him, leaving his insides on the floor.
Moon gracefully sidestepped the attack, then launched what appeared to be a single leg takedown—but it was far deadlier than it appeared. Activating [Stone Clasp], he clamped both hands around one of the creature’s segmented limbs, , his grip strength magnified instantly.
CRACK!
The leg snapped cleanly in half under the crushing pressure, black fluid spurting from its heavy injury as the ant released a high-pitched chattering sound of pain.
Its eyes burned with hatred.
The creature attempted to throw Moon off while simultaneously trying to stop the bleeding, but Moon maintained his grip and repositioned for a finishing move.
He circled around its body, before clutching its back, then seizing the ant’s head between both hands. CRUNCH!
The exoskeleton fell victim under his crushing strength, and the ant went limp immediately, life escaping its body instantly.
[You have killed the level 25 A-Rank Black Ant]
[You have gained 20 Lives]
Moon sighed looking at his reduced lives. The more kills he obtained, skills he gained, the further his strength developed, the lower his life gains were.
Moon stored both corpses in his spatial ring and remounted Mirage, continuing his journey.
‘They’re weaker than expected,’ he concluded. ‘If this is representative of the nest’s general threat level, clearing the entire population shouldn’t take more than ten minutes, even with me practicing my new skills against them.’
The base lord’s problem would be resolved quickly, and Moon could continue toward his actual destination with minimal delay.
