SSS Awakening: I am the First Mecha Overlord
Chapter 88: Powerful One Vs Lucky One
Declan said, cutting him off.
"If the academy wants to know, it can issue me a command to appear before the board of staff, and in front of all the instructors, I will undergo a legal verbal query test."
"But I have no interest in fulfilling your personal curiosity."
He made his position clear.
"Now hand me my device."
The instructor only gave him an amused grin before dipping his hand into the drawer and pulling out a couple of objects.
"Actually, it’s not just your device. You also have a few other items now that you’re a second year. Another device, more advanced, as expected," he said, bringing out a new device in a box.
"And your purple dorm room card for your new place in the second-year dorm area, and of course, your file,"
He added, bringing out a bag that contained the device and the files.
"Nice."
Declan picked up the items and put them all into his bag before continuing toward the exit, but when he reached the door, he couldn’t help but notice that there was no knob.
It was a wall door, completely smooth in design and probably only activated by the person who had closed it.
He turned his head toward Sir Lycanoid and found the instructor reclining in his seat with a mocking grin on his face.
"I forgot to mention that the door only opens with my permission, and I still have a pending question yet to be answered," he said.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The entire room shook as Declan smashed his fist into the wall.
Cracks raced across the surface, and a two-meter-wide section of the wall was blasted out, tumbling into the distance several times before finally coming to a stop.
"Oops, I broke the door," Declan mused, dripping with fake
innocence as he turned toward Sir Lycanoid, whose eyes quivered in disbelief. "Thankfully, that isn’t against the rules. Though I might probably get fined for the damage. That’s sad."
Then, as if he had only just remembered something, he added,
"Oh, right, I got ten thousand points from the expedition, didn’t I? And the door fix probably costs, what, twenty points at most?"
He let out an exaggerated sigh.
"Huuuuu, lucky me."
Declan said it with obvious mockery in his voice before resuming his walk toward the elevator in the distance.
"See you around, Sir Lycan," he said with a wave, but his hand had barely reached for the elevator door when,
CRAAACK!
CRAAACK!
CRAAACK!
The sounds of cracking echoed through the corridor, and Declan paused, looking down at his feet.
Cracks spread through the floor, racing past him and straight toward the elevator.
He slowly turned around.
The entire corridor was covered in fractures, all of them leading back to the humongous figure in the office.
Sir Lycanoid.
He had risen to his feet, and the desk before him was already turning to ashes from the horrifying wave of power oozing from his body.
His hands reached for his sleeves and folded them up, revealing bulging veins, while his other hand shifted to his neck as he adjusted his tie.
"Declan Ezra."
"Arguably the strongest and most brilliant newcomer among the newcomers."
"Achievements like this are good things for one initially deemed ordinary in every aspect."
His eyes narrowed.
"Up until they forget that all of this was only due to them getting lucky and allow it to get into their head."
BAAAAAAAAANG!
The ground shook heavily as he took a single step forward.
"It blinds them to the reality of the difference that exists between true power and being lucky."
"In your case, you seem to have forgotten that there’s a difference between a naive Newcomer and an X-Guard Academy Instructor."
"I will do you a favor and remind you of it."
He said this as Declan watched him step forward, his deadpan expression slowly shifting into a smirk before breaking into a wild, evil grin.
He clicked the button on the elevator, throwing his bag inside before stepping back toward Sir Lycanoid.
"If you wanted to see what I’m capable of, you could have simply begged for it. Would have saved us both the unnecessary talks."
He said it with disdain and mockery, and in that moment, Sir Lycanoid paused mid-step before completely fading away.
A towering shadow loomed over Declan.
The instructor had blinked into existence right in front of him, his massive hand only inches away from his face.
"You’re just an ignorant idiot oblivious to true power," Sir Lycanoid said, his expression barely changing.
Declan’s eyes, however, weren’t focused on the incoming attack. They were locked directly onto the instructor’s eyes.
"And you simply don’t know what it means to be a lucky one..."
VROOOOOOOOOOOM!
The palm blasted through Declan’s face, but Sir Lycanoid’s expression twisted the instant he felt no weight in his grip.
’He dodged it!?’
His eyes widened when he found Declan crouched on his outstretched fist as if he weighed less than a feather.
"You call that speed?"
VROOOOOM!
The air beside him blasted apart as Sir Lycanoid slapped out with his other hand, but the attack swept past Declan, who leapt off his arm, the palm wheezing just beneath his head as he hung upside down in the air.
BOOOOOOOOM!
The entire ground beneath Sir Lycanoid collapsed as a kick smashed into the top of his head, blowing him clean through the floor.
Revolving mid-air, Declan landed silently on both feet and looked down into the hole in the ground, where the instructor, though still standing, remained frozen like a man who had just seen a ghost.
Declan was about to step down after him but paused at the last moment and pulled his foot back.
"X-Guard Academy Instructor..." he mused with an eyeroll before turning his back and resuming his walk toward the elevator.
He was only a couple of centimeters away when the entire corridor exploded outward as a figure burst from the ground.
"YOU WILL DIEEEE!"
Sir Lycanoid’s voice thundered through the corridor, fiery golden veins covering his face as he locked his gaze forward and found Declan silently pressing the elevator button.
BOOOOOOOM!
The air shook as Sir Lycanoid launched forward with terrifying speed, but before he could reach him, the elevator doors shot closed, a gigantic dent smashing into their surface without stopping them from closing.
DIIIIIIIING!
A second ding rang out as Declan stepped out of the elevator with the bag in his hand.
Unhurriedly, he made his way toward the exit, though the staff members around couldn’t help but turn their heads when a figure suddenly stormed out from the ceiling above.
"Sir Lycanoid?!"
They looked on in shock at the devilish instructor, whose shining eyes immediately scanned the room.
He looked toward the exit just in time to see Declan stepping outside.
SHATTTTER!
The entire entrance glass exploded into fragments as Sir Lycanoid’s golden claw smashed through it.
Upon stepping outside, he paused when he noticed students passing by, some of them regarding him with raised eyebrows.
His eyes searched everywhere for Declan, but the boy was nowhere to be found.
He had long since disappeared.
"I’ll find you, you ignorant bastard!"
______________
DIIIIIIIIING!
The sound of the elevator opening echoed through the corridor, and Declan stepped out with a bag crossed over his shoulder.
Walking forward, he was close to reaching his dorm room when he suddenly took a step back as the door of the room next to his swung open.
The one who stepped out was a pink-haired girl with cat-ear headphones wrapped around her neck.
She paused the moment she saw Declan, her eyes slowly bulging until they widened to the max.
Not again.
"DECLAANNNNN!"
Evie screamed and jumped into his arms, tears already streaming down her face as Declan rolled his eyes.
"You... waaah, ahhh, ahhh. I thought you died... aaah."
"Hahaha."
As tired as Declan felt, a small chuckle still forced its way out as he listened to her cries.
It was a strange sound, almost as though he were laughing rather than crying.
Even though it was subtle, Evie sensed it immediately.
She jumped off him and then shoved him against the railings, pressing the pod to his face as he raised both hands in surrender.
"You son of a donkey. You kept me worried for months."
"Please. It’s not even been three full weeks."
"Tsk. Should have saved my worries."
She stepped back, and Declan finally straightened himself.
Her hand shot out with surprising speed, snatching something from his grip.
"Hey, that is my..."
She ignored him, sliding his room card across his door scanner.
It opened immediately, and Evie flung the card back at him.
Declan caught it a few inches from his nose.
When he turned back toward her, she had already disappeared into his room.
"You mannerless duck. I’ve told you not to barge into my room without my permission."
Declan entered his room and found her sitting on the sofa with her hands gripping one of the game controllers.
"Where have you been all this time?" she asked, switching on the TV and picking a game.
It was as if she hadn’t heard his complaint at all.
He rolled his eyes at that.
"Some expedition."
He replied.
"And you couldn’t even leave a word about that, huh?"
She fumed while her hands continued clicking the game pads.
"What are you, my mom or something?"
Declan replied as he sat down on the sofa.
’Now, let’s see what this is all about,’ he thought expectantly, reaching for his bag.
Before he could open it, however, he felt a leg cross over his lap, followed by something soft touching his shoulder.
When he turned, Evie’s face was only a few inches from his, her lips pursed into a strange expression.
"No. But if you want me to be your sugar mama, I might consider it," Evie whispered with a wink.
