SSS Awakening: I am the First Legendary Mage
Chapter 273: Benefits Of Mana [MAGIC CASTLE BONUS]
The entire area seemed to be undergoing the same transformation, leaving Alex completely confused about how the Basilisk had activated such an ability.
Before he could figure it out, the Basilisk suddenly rammed its enormous body into him. Alex was thrown through the air and smashed through several trees before finally crashing into a fifth tree with enough force to shake the trunk.
He coughed violently and spat out a mouthful of blood. The blood turned into stone almost immediately after hitting the ground, while Alex could feel his own body becoming increasingly stiff as the petrification continued spreading.
Alex remained calm.
He had already prepared himself for this possibility. He wasn’t arrogant enough to believe that he could fight a High Rank species without being hit, and that was precisely why he had prepared a contingency in case the Basilisk managed to land its attack.
Alex immediately stopped using the Advanced Blood Vitalization Spell. The moment he did so, the mana inside his heart began swelling rapidly, and this time he didn’t try to keep all of it contained within his heart.
He released the mana throughout his entire body.
The sheer amount of mana was so great that Alex felt as though his body might explode from the pressure. His entire body began to hum as the mana flowed beneath his skin and through his muscles, spreading through him like a massive wave.
The Basilisk’s Origin Energy could no longer penetrate deeper into his body.
Even if the monster’s Will was stronger than Alex’s, the sheer amount of mana he had released throughout his body created an overwhelming resistance that prevented the petrification from reaching any deeper.
That didn’t mean the situation was under control.
The Basilisk’s Origin Energy and Will were still extremely powerful, and nearly half of Alex’s skin had already turned into stone. His body had become stiff, and moving was becoming increasingly difficult, while the enormous amount of mana moving through his body made it impossible to properly maintain the Superior Body Reinforcement Spell.
Alex remained calm despite the situation.
Instead of trying to force the petrification out immediately, he continued pouring mana into his mind and soul. His focus rapidly increased as he used the enormous amount of mana inside his body to strengthen his concentration, allowing him to think through the situation without being distracted by the pain.
He had come up with an idea.
Alex began preparing another Mana Shuriken.
The Basilisk continued glaring at him, and when it realized that Alex wasn’t completely turning into stone, it immediately rushed toward him. The monster clearly intended to finish the battle before Alex could find a way to escape the petrification.
The last lightning spear that had been pinning the Basilisk to the ground had disappeared at some point during the battle, leaving the monster completely free to move. Alex knew that this was a serious problem because the closer it got, the stronger its petrification gaze would become.
Kinetic Mana Bullets and Mana Arrows flew toward the Basilisk, but the strange ability it had activated was still covering the area around its body. Any attack that entered a certain range was immediately turned into stone, making it nearly impossible for the projectiles to reach the monster.
The Basilisk continued rushing toward Alex without slowing down. It clearly intended to finish him before dealing with others.
Even in this situation, Alex remained calm, although there was something else mixed with that calmness now, because he was genuinely excited to see whether his idea would work.
Alex completed the Mana Shuriken and immediately began changing its structure. Until now, he had only applied the Disruption Mana Blade patterns to the blade portion of the spell, but he suddenly realized that there was no reason those patterns had to remain limited to the edges.
The Disruption Mana Blade wasn’t truly a spell that created blades. Its foundation was the pattern itself, and when mana moved according to that pattern, it gained the ability to cut—or rather destroy—through other forms of energy, which meant the same principle could potentially be applied to the entire Mana Shuriken.
Alex carefully spread the Disruption Mana patterns across the entire mana casing of the Mana Shuriken. Instead of only vibrating along the edges, the mana covering the entire projectile now followed the same principles, creating a weapon that could interfere with energy from every direction.
He didn’t know whether it would work against the Basilisk’s Origin Energy, but he had no better option. Alex finished preparing the attack and immediately launched the Mana Shuriken toward the approaching monster, watching carefully as it ripped through the air at incredible speed.
He could clearly feel the Basilisk’s Origin Energy trying to spread into the Mana Shuriken and turn it into stone.
However, the moment the Origin Energy touched the disruption patterns, it was disrupted and pushed apart, preventing the petrification from spreading through the projectile.
The Basilisk seemed to realize that something was wrong and attempted to dodge the incoming attack.
Alex had already prepared for that possibility, and as the Mana Shuriken reached the monster, he pulled out his Will from it, causing the projectile to become unstable.
The Mana Shuriken exploded.
Flames and shockwaves erupted across the battlefield, violently pushing against Alex’s body. His hair and clothes whipped around in the wind while the nearby grass and trees bent away from the explosion, but Alex remained focused on the monster instead of reacting to the destruction around him.
At that moment, nothing else mattered to him except his mana and the Basilisk. Everything else had become muted. Before the flames had completely disappeared, Alex created another Mana Shuriken and immediately applied the same Disruption Mana patterns across its entire structure.
He launched it the moment the battlefield became visible again, giving the Basilisk almost no time to react. The second Mana Shuriken appeared directly in front of its face, and the monster seemed surprised that the attack had arrived so quickly.
The Basilisk failed to dodge. It seemed to have been thinking there was no way Alex could use attacks with so much mana repeatedly.
Unfortunately for it, Alex had enough mana to drown it in Mana Shuriken.
The spinning projectile tore through the space between its eyes and penetrated deep into its skull before Alex detonated it. Another explosion erupted, blowing apart the Basilisk’s head and causing its enormous body to finally collapse onto the ground.
