Chapter 216: Regeneration [POWER STONE BONUS]

The moment Alex’s Mana Sense touched it, however, the enormous tentacle twitched. It seemed to have sensed Alex’s mana.

Then Origin Energy exploded from the creature.

Alex immediately felt a wave of pressure spread through the water. The Origin Energy was far stronger than the Origin Energy of the Wild Orcs, and even though the creature did not appear to be deliberately suppressing Alex’s movements, he still felt nauseous from its presence. The others were worse, their expressions paling.

Alex barely had time to process what was happening before he noticed another change. The raft was moving differently, and the water beneath them had started rotating.

Although they could not properly see the movement because of the darkness, everyone could feel the current pulling the raft in a circular motion. Joseph’s expression changed as he tried to control the raft, but the water was becoming increasingly difficult to manipulate.

"It’s pulling us in!" Joseph shouted as the raft began moving toward the center of the forming whirlpool.

Alex immediately created three Fire Bullets, forcing as much Fire Element Mana into them as he could while maintaining their stability. Each one was already stronger than anything he could have created back on Earth, even when he had put his entire attention into creating a single Fire Bullet.

He fired them toward the forming whirlpool, and the three projectiles ripped through the air before striking the water almost simultaneously. Explosions erupted beneath the raft, destroying the rotation of the water and scattering the force that had been pulling them toward the center.

The raft was almost overturned by the sudden explosions and the waves they created, but Joseph managed to stabilize it with his Kinetic Mana. His face was pale as he fought against the chaotic water, yet he still managed to keep everyone from being thrown into the current.

"Go! Go! Go!" Alex shouted as Joseph pushed the raft forward.

Alex immediately created three more Fire Bullets while repeatedly using his Mana Sense. He had noticed something useful through his Fire Bullets during his previous attacks. Normally, when they exploded, not all of the mana inside them was transformed into fire because the explosion happened too quickly.

Some of the Fire Element Mana was scattered into the surroundings, and because it belonged to him, Alex could sense anything it touched for a brief moment. It was not very precise, but it was enough to tell him whether his explosions had reached something beneath the water.

The next three Fire Bullets exploded in the distance, and Alex immediately felt something through the scattered mana. One of the explosions had struck the tentacle, although he could not tell how much damage the attack had caused.

Alex did not take any chances. There could have been another tentacle outside the range of his previous attack, and after seeing what the creature could do, he was no longer willing to assume that there was only one.

’No, there are definitely more,’ Alex thought as he created another three Fire Bullets.

He fired them farther into the flooded forest, and another series of explosions tore through the darkness. Trees were shattered, water was thrown into the air, and parts of the submerged ground were blasted apart as the fire spread through the area.

The forest shook from the force of the attacks, while the light from the explosions briefly illuminated the flooded trees around them. Alex sensed two tentacles this time, although he could not tell whether one of them was the same tentacle he had damaged during his previous attack. Both tentacles had clearly been struck.

Alex created another set of Fire Bullets and fired again, continuing to attack the area where he sensed the creature. He was sweating from the concentration required to create so many powerful Fire Bullets in such a short period, but despite the strain on his mind, his mana pool barely seemed to decrease.

Alex could not help feeling pleased by that. Having this much mana was incredible. He could launch attacks of this scale repeatedly without immediately reaching his limit.

This time, Alex put even more Fire Element Mana into each Fire Bullet. The three projectiles became noticeably more powerful before he launched them, and when they struck the flooded forest, the resulting explosions were far larger than the previous ones.

Waves rolled outward while burning trees collapsed into the water, and the ground beneath the surface was torn apart by the force. Yet even after the enormous explosions, there was still no kill notification.

"Alex! The noise is attracting monsters!" Emma shouted over the roaring waves as several Voltserpents appeared from the darkness ahead of them.

"If I stop, those tentacles will reach us!" Alex shouted back while creating another Fire Bullet.

There was no good choice. They could either fight the many weaker monsters that were approaching them or focus entirely on the single creature beneath the water that they still knew almost nothing about, and Alex believed the latter was far more dangerous.

Before he could fire again, however, something strange happened. A low but constant hum suddenly spread throughout the flooded forest, and for some reason, chills ran down Alex’s spine when he heard it.

The sound was not particularly loud, but it made him instinctively uneasy. Then the darkness around them began to disappear as the night itself seemed to brighten.

Far in the distance, where Alex had been firing his Fire Bullets, something began rising from beneath the water. It was enormous, and Alex could only stare as eight massive glowing Water Bullets began forming above the flooded forest.

The water inside each projectile was spinning at a dizzying speed, and every one of them was large enough to rival a van. Beneath each Water Bullet was a gigantic tentacle, revealing that the creature had far more tentacles than Alex had initially expected.

The tentacles were unmistakably those of an enormous octopus-like monster. Several were covered in holes and deep wounds from Alex’s previous attacks, but the injuries were already closing at an alarming speed.
