Chapter 158: Deadly Combination Of Advanced Battle Instinct Spell And Will

Alex only needed a moment to understand what was happening. The building was falling backward, and when he looked through the windows, he saw the rapidly approaching ground below.

The Wild Orcs had destroyed the base of the building, apparently intending to bring the entire structure down on top of him rather than give him another chance to recover. Alex immediately moved, extending Hardened Mana Threads from the soles of his shoes so they could dig into the floor and provide enough grip for him to move.

He ran forward while the floor slowly became steeper, almost turning vertical beneath his feet. When the angle became impossible to cross, Alex covered his face and jumped through the glass wall.

His body sailed out of the building and began falling through the open air. His clothes and hair whipped violently in the wind, and even now, the Lightning-element Mana had barely increased his speed because the debuff continued interfering with his body.

Still, Advanced Battle Instinct Spell had strengthened his physical capabilities enough for him to escape the collapsing building. Now he was free-falling from more than twenty floors above the ground, with no obvious way to land safely.

Before Alex could even think about the landing, he noticed two Wild Orcs waiting below him. His eyes quickly swept across the battlefield as he continued falling, taking in everything he could within the short amount of time available to him.

Of the five Wild Orcs that had initially approached them, one was dead, killed by Alex. Roan was surprisingly still alive and was fighting the second Wild Orc, while the third and fourth had positioned themselves beneath Alex and were preparing to catch him.

The fifth Wild Orc was holding a van, clearly preparing to throw it at him. Beyond them, eight more Wild Orcs were approaching, and every single one appeared to be at least Level 18. There was still no sign of the debuff caster.

The situation could hardly have been more dangerous, especially with the powerful debuff still restricting Alex’s movements. Yet as Alex looked at the battlefield below, a faint smile appeared on his face.

This was thrilling.

He was injured, covered in blood, and falling from a height that would kill him. A van was about to be thrown at him within the next few seconds, and even if he somehow dodged it, two Wild Orcs were waiting below to grab him and tear him apart.

Then there were eight more Wild Orcs coming.

Was it dangerous? Yes, without a doubt.

Was it exciting?

Hell yeah.

Alex had never felt more alive. He poured even more compressed mana into his brain, pushing his focus far beyond its normal limits until everything around him seemed muted and distant. The only things that remained clear were the Wild Orcs around him and their movements.

Alex created two Fire Bullets in front of himself, but he did not stop there. He poured a huge amount of mana into his three Soul Gates, and his soul greedily absorbed it, becoming more tangible as the dense mana strengthened it. His Will became denser, and as his Will grew stronger, his control over mana improved further.

That improvement was enough for Alex to create a third Fire Bullet. Originally, he had been able to create two Fire Bullets at the same time, but after he started keeping a hold on the Lightning-element Mana Rune on his heart, his limit had dropped to one.

Advanced Battle Instinct Spell had allowed him to return to two, and now that he could strengthen his Will, which directly affected his mana control, he had pushed that limit to three. Three Fire Bullets instantly formed in front of him.

Alex launched them without hesitation, and the bullets ripped through the air, piercing the head of the Wild Orc holding the van and one of the Wild Orcs waiting below him. The third Wild Orc suddenly moved, and Alex’s eyes narrowed as he watched its movements change.

It was not simply faster. Its movements had suddenly become much more precise and controlled.

’It received a buff,’ Alex realized.

Alex immediately created three more Fire Bullets, intending to kill the last Wild Orc before the other eight arrived. However, before he could fire, the Wild Orc suddenly crouched and jumped, sending its enormous body into the air.

Alex was stunned for a moment as the behemoth crossed an unbelievable distance in a single jump, bringing its body almost directly in front of him. The Wild Orc was so large that it filled most of Alex’s vision, and its palm moved toward him with a speed that did not match its size.

The palm caught Alex. He immediately felt pressure coming from every direction as the Wild Orc’s fingers closed around him, but at least he no longer needed to worry about landing on the ground because the Wild Orc had absorbed most of the force of his fall when it caught him, and landed.

The bad news was that Alex was now being crushed inside its hand. His vision became completely dark, and his body was trapped in a space that continued shrinking as the Wild Orc tightened its grip.

Alex immediately activated Mana Sense and searched for the Wild Orc’s head so he could fire the three Fire Bullets that were still floating around the monster’s palm. Something moved, and the three Fire Bullets disappeared almost instantly, making Alex realize that the Wild Orc had used its other hand to destroy them.

The pressure around his body increased again, and Alex could hear his bones beginning to crack under the force. He reinforced his body with mana and tried pushing the Wild Orc’s fingers away, but it was useless against a pure muscle giant that was nearly as tall as a six-floor building.

Alex created a Mana Sword and stabbed it into the Wild Orc’s palm. The monster roared in pain, but instead of releasing him, it tightened its grip even further.

Alex’s bones made several popping sounds as his body was forced into a crouched position, with his knees pressed against his chest. He tightened his grip on his wand and began creating Fire-element Mana.

His Will was now considerably stronger, which had caused his mana control to improve tremendously. A large amount of Fire-element Mana appeared almost instantly, but there was no empty space around Alex where he could release it.

That did not matter.

Alex began pouring the Fire-element Mana directly into the Wild Orc’s hand. At first, he encountered resistance because the monster’s Origin Energy and Will were occupying its body, preventing foreign mana from entering easily.

Alex pushed harder and poured his reinforced Will into the Wild Orc’s palm. He forced the monster’s Origin Energy and Will backward with his Will, and once he created an opening, his Fire-element Mana entered the monster’s flesh and began spreading toward its wrist.

Then Alex started compressing it.

He had wondered about this for a time now. What would happen if Fire-element Mana was compressed inside something instead of being compressed in the air?

Normally, when Fire-element Mana reached a certain level of compression in the air, a spark appeared and the mana transformed into flames. The flames then consumed the Fire-element Mana as fuel, but there was no room for that process to happen inside the Wild Orc’s body.

However, something had to happen. Alex already had an idea of what that might be, but the experiment was far too dangerous to attempt without a safe opportunity. He had been waiting for the right moment, but now he was trying it anyway, even though the situation was anything but safe.
