Maybe Roan could do it.

His family was dead, and Sarah was dead as well, while most of his friends had suffered the same fate. However, through a few rescued people who had worked at his family mansion, Roan had learned that some of the servants had been kidnapped rather than killed.

Roan wanted to save them, but until now, he had secretly believed that he would fail. He simply did not have enough strength to fight his way through an area controlled by Wild Orcs, and he had been trying not to admit that to himself.

But now he had seen Alex, Tina and Ophelia fight one of those monsters.

Perhaps he could succeed after all.

...

Alex moved as soon as the battle ended and first checked Tina and Ophelia’s conditions. Ophelia had broken several bones during the fight, but thankfully, her injuries were already healing as she leveled up, while Tina was in considerably better condition.

Tina’s timing, instincts, and footwork were quite good, which made sense after years of boxing training. Combined with her almost fearless fighting style, she had performed better than Ophelia despite the difference in their Aura control.

The group gathered the survivors who had been held hostage. Some immediately began thanking Tina and Ophelia after seeing the two women fight the Wild Orc, while others were too shocked to react properly and simply stared at the dead monster.

Alex and the others brought the survivors back to the rescue group. After leaving Roan’s group to handle them, Alex followed Roan and his people into another room in the building where they had been hiding.

The room was small, with an old table in the corner, but it was enough for them to discuss their next move. Alex looked at everyone before turning his attention to Roan.

"Alright. Give me all the information you know about what is happening here. I want to know everything you have discovered, even if you think it is not important," Alex said.

"I’ve told you almost everything I know. The Wild Orcs are taking people somewhere, and I don’t know what they are doing with them, but I doubt it is anything good. I tried following them, but if we keep going in that direction, we will eventually reach an area where there are a lot of Wild Orcs. I think they are acting as guards because there are more than ten Wild Orcs in each area, and I couldn’t sneak through their defense line to find out what they were doing with the people," Roan replied.

"Wild Orcs have bad senses. Sneaking around them should not be that difficult," Tina pointed out.

"Normal Wild Orcs do have bad senses, but there was something strange there. I didn’t actually see it, but I could feel that something was watching the area, and it sensed me even though I was being careful," Roan said.

Roan’s expression became grim as he recounted what happened. "It sent four Wild Orcs after me, and I barely survived that encounter. That’s why I didn’t dare go back there, knowing I would be exposed instantly."

Alex nodded slowly. He wondered if the monster Roan had sensed was the leader of the Wild Orcs or something else, but there was no way to know without going there himself.

He also noticed Kevin had become tense during the conversation. The young man knew that his sister was beyond the defense line, likely where the Wild Orcs were taking the kidnapped humans, and the thought had left him almost frozen.

Alex’s emotions were not much better than Kevin’s, but he knew he could not hesitate or delay. If the Wild Orcs were taking the kidnapped people somewhere, then every minute they spent waiting could make the situation worse. Alex had to remain calm, and level-headed.

"How close is this defense line of Wild Orcs to Patrick High School?" Alex asked.

"About fifteen to twenty streets away," Roan answered.

Alex nodded and opened the map he had of San Francisco. He pulled the table toward the center of the room, placed the map on it, then created a Mana Thread and began laying it around Patrick High School and the surrounding streets.

According to Roan, the Wild Orcs were packed closely together around Patrick High School. Their defense line seemed to form a dome around the school, which meant there might not be as many monsters on the opposite side, but taking a detour would cost them too much time.

They needed to break through from the front.

The problem was that the Wild Orcs were standing close enough together that provoking one would likely attract several others. These were not the Wild Orcs transporting humans either; their only purpose was guarding the area, so they would attack with their full strength as soon as they noticed an intruder.

Even for Alex, fighting five Wild Orcs at once would be difficult. Theoretically, he could defeat up to four if he fought carefully, but these monsters were as tall as four-story buildings and were extremely fast, meaning even one direct hit could kill him.

Alex considered using hit-and-run tactics instead. He could snipe two Wild Orcs, hide until they stopped searching for him, then repeat the process until enough of them were gone, but this would take too much time. Time, he did not have.

At that moment, Tina spoke up, "We can make three groups, with two groups distracting the Wild Orcs and creating an opening in the defense line while the last group enters through the gap and checks what is happening to the kidnapped humans. If we find them, we rescue as many as possible and leave through the opening before the Wild Orcs can surround us."

She continued after looking at the map. "As for the monster that sensed Roan, Alex and Roan can deal with it. If it sent Wild Orcs instead of coming itself, it might be a group controller with weak combat abilities. With us luring the Wild Orcs away, it should theoretically make it easier to defeat."
