SSS Awakening: Conquering Worlds with My Cupid System
Chapter 291: Piss Off!
Silas and Alpha continued through the city. The city gradually became busier as more pedestrians appeared and vehicles filled the roads. The closer they got to the marked destination, the stronger the signs of an incident became. Police sirens could be heard faintly in the distance.
"How far?" Silas glanced at the map.
"Two kilometers," Alpha said.
"How do you know?"
Alpha pointed at the projected map.
"It states: two kilometers..."
"..."
They kept moving when another system notification appeared.
[HOSTILE PRESENCE DETECTED!]
Silas’s eyes narrowed. "Already?"
[Multiple Hostile Targets Detected!]
[Hostages Confirmed!]
[Mission Objective Updated!]
[Eliminate Threats. Protect Hostages.]
[Time Remaining: 47 Minutes.]
Alpha’s expression changed, and the joking atmosphere vanished instantly as his hand moved toward his weapons. Silas stopped, his eyes focusing on the distant street.
Several people ran away from a small commercial building while someone screamed. A police vehicle was parked across the road, but the officers hadn’t entered, as a group of armed men had barricaded themselves inside.
Silas looked at the building. Then at the map.
"That’s it."
Alpha nodded. "Looks like it."
Silas’s expression hardened, the killing intent disappearing while something else replaced it. His eyes began glowing faintly, and the smile returned, but it wasn’t his usual mischievous smile. It was the smile of someone who had finally found an acceptable target for all that frustration.
"You’re enjoying this."
Silas cracked his knuckles. "Maybe a little."
Alpha sighed.
"Of course."
Silas looked at the building.
"Let’s go save some people."
Alpha’s Camouflage deepened, causing their figures to disappear completely, and without anyone noticing, two monsters entered the battlefield.
***
Kelvina had arrived earlier and decided to tour the place a little. She had wandered downtown to the Honsway Supermart to get a quick snack. Everything was going well until the robbers entered, holding everyone hostage.
She wanted to act and save the people. The thugs, or whatever they were posing as, were all weak D-Ranks. To an SS-Rank like her, it was more than a piece of cake. Just a thumb flick would erase them from the face of the Earth.
But she stopped herself because something in her was speaking... no... screaming at her to play the victim; otherwise, she would regret it. It had never failed her... mostly, and for some unknown reason, it only appeared out of battles.
It was the same instincts that had earned her the strength to survive in her mess of a family. As she was trying to figure out just what was causing her instincts to act up like that, her super senses picked up something... Something that made her eyes light up and nearly blinded the people beside her.
’It can’t be! It’s really him!’
The senses of a dragon were so powerful that even without eyes, they could still see everything clearly, and currently, she was seeing a pink-haired guy with insane beauty and a white-blond with equally insane beauty- for guys, they were something else.
She also noticed something else... they were covered in something. Her senses expanded a bit, and she realized that the people around them couldn’t see the two moving towards the place.
’Must be the other guy’s ability...’
***
Silas and Alpha had reached the place and, staring up at the mart, they began questioning the description sense of the system. How was a freaking Supermart a LOCAL SHOP?!
[You both lack a sense of humor]
’Says the guy who named a supermart a local shop.’
[...]
"Alpha, let’s reveal ourselves."
"Talk about a dramatic entrance..."
"That’s how superheroes work."
"Fortunately, you aren’t ripping your shirt off to show some silly costume with pants on the trousers."
"Oi! I have class. Besides, my shirt is four thou..."
"Alright, alright. Let’s get this over with. I have a date with Al..."
"I KNEW IT!" Silas exclaimed, only to see people staring at him in a weird way. He immediately turned to Alpha and raised an eyebrow, ignoring the now stunned gazes of the crowd.
"You wanted a dramatic entrance, boss man..."
"This f... Let’s go."
Without waiting for the police to approach them, they entered under the stunned and shocked gazes of the gathered crowd. It was only after they disappeared into the building that someone shouted, "THAT’S SILAS ASHARD! THE S-RANK OF CITY A!"
"NO FUCKING WAY!"
"DID ANYONE GET A SHOT?!"
The crowd turned rowdy at that, completely forgetting that people were being held at gunpoint.
***
Not so oblivious to what was happening outside, Silas and Alpha entered the mart as if they were strolling through the park. They totally ignored the robbers stationed at the gates of the mart as though they were air. One of the robbers almost puked blood.
"You... What are you doing here?!" one of the robbers, dressed in black clothes with a white clown mask, asked in a deep voice. He appeared to be the leader.
"Sigh... It’s always like this in the movies. I’m already tired," Silas muttered, completely ignoring the man’s question. After a minute of breathing in and out, he turned to the guy with a cold expression.
"Yo, buddy! You know what?"
"What?" The man asked, feeling a chill run down his spine.
"Piss off!"
That was the last thing the man heard before his feet gave out on the tiled floor of the mart. The leader collapsed unconscious, his body hitting the tiles with a dull thud. For three seconds, nobody moved.
Then one robber shouted, "GET THEM!"
The remaining thugs raised their weapons, causing Silas to sigh. "Seriously?"
He vanished.
The first thug barely saw a blur before Silas struck his chest with two fingers. The man flew backward and crashed into a shelf, unconscious.
Alpha moved next.
His camouflage flickered as he appeared behind another robber, struck the back of his neck, and caught him before he hit the ground.
"That’s two."
Silas smiled.
"Race you."
"You’re childish."
"You’re slow."
Within seconds, every robber was unconscious. Silas carefully lowered the last one.
"Nobody dead." Alpha nodded.
The sirens grew louder outside as more cops arrived. Silas looked toward the hostages.
"Everyone okay?"
A terrified woman nodded. Then someone whispered,
"Are you really Silas Ashard?"
Silas smiled.
"Unfortunately."
[MISSION COMPLETE.]
[REWARD: A DISCOVERY IN FATE]
Silas’s smile disappeared as he felt something strange enter his vision.
"Oh, hell."
