SSS Awakening: Conquering Worlds with My Cupid System
Chapter 277: Alpha Wakes Up
As the shimmering waves of sweet, hypnotic enchantment reached their absolute peak, the translucent cocoon of silver and rose light began to hairline-fracture. Soft, rhythmic pulses of rose-gold mana radiated outward, absorbing the infinite twilight void back into Alpha’s core.
The endless mirror-like lake dissolved, the two floating moons melted into light, and the drifting pink feathers settled onto the ground before vanishing completely. In the span of a single heartbeat, reality snapped back into place.
The high ceiling, the mahogany paneling, and the polished marble floor of the east wing guest suite returned, looking entirely untouched by the surreal domain that had just enveloped them.
On the large, velvet-draped bed, the glowing silver halo hovering above Alpha’s head faded into a faint, ethereal mark, and the two delicate, feathery wings at his temples folded gently against his hairline before dissolving into his skin.
Alpha let out a long, quiet breath, his chest rising as his long eyelashes fluttered open.
His eyes, now burning with a striking, iridescent pink sheen beneath a soft, natural veil of ambient mana, blinked slowly against the warm sunlight filtering through the tall arched windows.
He sat up slowly, rubbing his temples as his gaze swept across the room, landing on the group standing near the foot of the bed.
"Well, look who finally decided to join the land of the living," Silas said, stepping forward with a lazy, fond grin, his arms crossed over his chest. "You slept right through the post-tournament cleanup, lazy ass."
Alpha blinked, a small, weary smirk playing on his lips despite his lingering tiredness. His voice was raspy, but his tone held its usual sharp, dry wit.
"Can’t blame a guy for taking a nap after carrying your squad through a spatial breach, boss. Besides... someone had to make sure the bed was comfortable enough for an S-Rank hero."
Silas chuckled, shaking his head. "Careful, or I’ll make you pay rent for the estate room. How are you feeling?"
Alpha ran a hand through his hair, glancing down at his hands as a faint, microscopic distortion shifted the light around his fingers.
"Different. Like my skin doesn’t quite sit in the same place as the air around it anymore... but good. Better than ever, honestly."
"We’ll worry about your new perks later," Silas said, offering a warm nod. He turned toward Chloe and Anna, gently taking their hands. "Let’s give him some space to get his head straight. Anna, let’s make sure the rest of the estate wards are calibrated."
Anna smiled gently, bowing her head. "Of course, Silas."
"I’m going to check on the outer perimeter," Chloe added, giving Alpha a brief, approving glance before turning to leave alongside Silas and Anna.
As the trio walked toward the heavy oak doors, Silas paused near the threshold, looking back at Alicia, who was still standing near the edge of the rug, fidgeting nervously with the edge of her bandages. She looked between the doorway and Alpha, clearly torn, her cheeks still dusted with a soft pink flush.
"You coming, Alicia?" Silas asked, his pink eyes twinkling with quiet amusement.
Alicia flinched slightly, her hands flying behind her back as she stammered, "I... ah... I think I’ll stay for a minute! Just... just to make sure his mana levels aren’t spiking again! As a former squad member, I should monitor his recovery!"
Silas offered an easy, knowing smirk. "Right. Monitor away. Don’t let him talk you into doing his chores."
With a light wave of his hand, Silas pulled the door closed behind him, leaving the spacious, quiet room in total silence.
Alicia stood frozen for a second before turning slowly toward the bed. Alpha leaned back against his pillows, resting his chin in his hand as he looked at her, an amused, soft expression softening his usually sharp features.
"So," Alpha murmured softly, the ambient mana around his voice giving it a gentle, magnetic warmth. "You’re monitoring me, huh?"
Alicia bit her lower lip, taking a hesitant step toward the side of the bed, her heart thumping against her ribs in the quiet room.
"Shut up, Alpha... I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Classic love story..." Silas chuckled softly under his breath, stepping back into the grand hallway as the heavy oak door clicked shut behind them.
He leaned against the polished wall, resting his head back and closing his eyes as a quiet, satisfied sigh escaped his lips. The quiet hum of the estate’s protective wards resonated through the stone, wrapping around them like a warm blanket. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, there were no screaming monsters, no collapsing dimensions, and no ancient SS-Rank cannibals trying to butcher his friends.
Chloe stood beside him, leaning her shoulder lightly against his arm. She looked up at him, her icy blue eyes softening into something gentle, almost affectionate.
"You really have a bad habit of picking up stray stragglers and turning them into hopeless romantics, don’t you?"
"Hey, I didn’t do anything," Silas said, opening one pink eye to grin cutely at her.
"Alicia’s been staring at him with those big, worried eyes since we boarded the medical transport. I just gave her the push she needed. Besides, Alpha deserves a little bit of happiness after undergoing a full-blown race evolution just to keep up with us."
Anna let out a soft, melodic laugh, her golden aura flickering gently around her fingers like warm sunlight.
"His core is completely stable now, Silas. The Veiled Wing lineage suits him remarkably well. In a few days, when his assimilation settles, his presence will be nearly impossible to trace unless he wants to be found."
"Good," Silas murmured, his grin softening as he reached out to gently weave his fingers through Chloe’s.
"Because once the media frenzy outside dies down and the council finishes their little investigation, things are going to get busy again."
Chloe squeezed his hand, resting her head against his shoulder. "Let them investigate. Right now, you need to rest."
Silas chuckled, pulling her a little closer as they began walking down the quiet corridor together. "Yeah... resting sounds pretty good right about now. You coming, Anna? I missed your... treats."
"Don’t count on it, Mr. Ashard. I didn’t miss your..." Anna retorted, pouting cutely.
"Sure... you really don’t know how to lie..."
