Anna sat in her office, her face filled with panic, fear, sorrow, pain, and all kinds of negative emotions as she watched what was happening on her laptop. Chloe was cradling Silas’s unconscious body, and she couldn’t even bear to think that he was lifeless, even though he looked very much as lifeless as he could be.

Her eyes flared with a deep golden light, and all she was wishing for was to teleport there and use all her power, and every single thing in her, to heal her lover. She was tearing up inside... she was dying.

Gromda and Echidna, who were now the best of friends, were hurdled inside Silas’s private gaming room as usual. But this time, they weren’t playing a game or fighting over the console.

Gromda sat on the floor, her head nestled in Echidna’s thighs as she cried. They’d accidentally gotten hold of the live stream of the tournament and had witnessed everything that was happening to Silas.

Echidna appeared to be calm, but her eyes held something more than just calm. She appeared to be comforting Gromda, already beginning to accept that Silas was no more, but she was comforting herself too.

She had even begun thinking that she was the cause of this... her presence, a bad omen that caused this to happen.

At this point, both she and Gromda were only wishing to at least hold him for one final time, and their wishes were granted by a translucent pink window.

Tears fell from Chloe’s eyes, dripping onto Silas’s face. The battle around her, the screams of the others, the snarling and growling of the Astorias... everything was just some faded background noise. She wanted to explode; she wanted to do anything... just anything to bring Silas back.

But before any good solution could come to mind, she felt Silas’s heart give one final beat, and he stopped breathing.

Chloe felt her world crushing down. A cold she’d never felt before... something that surpassed even her ice, gripped her heart. Her eyes widened in shock as she felt Silas’s body become numb.

"Silas... baby... no- no- no- NOOO!"

Chloe’s scream caused the battlefield to fall silent as everyone turned to stare at her. The expressions of all the Valecrest members dropped as they realized what had happened...

"It... it can’t be-" Alpha whispered, his daggers slipping from his hand. "Silas..."

The battlefield became so gripped with cold and grief that everyone couldn’t feel the suffocating pressure that was descending on the world. It was as if they were being protected by something.

At the same time, three pink portals appeared right in front of Chloe and Silas, spitting out three women: Anna, Gromda, and Echidna.

The moment their feet landed on the ground, they rushed towards Silas, ignoring their surroundings entirely. Gromda picked up Chloe, while Echidna transformed her lower body into tentacles to cradle Silas.

Anna knelt beside his body, her expression calm despite the tears flowing down her cheeks. It was as if they could read each other’s thoughts, which was true. Silas had used Resonance, and in some way, upgraded it to something better.

But that was a detail for another time.

Anna’s entire being glowed golden as she pushed her ability to its very limit. At the same time, Silas’s Heartweaver traits kicked in, pushing out the necrotic energy while her divine healing destroyed it and healed his body.

Anna could feel her mana depleting at an insanely quick rate, but she didn’t care. What was the use of all that power if she couldn’t save the only family she had? She didn’t care, even if she became a cripple or died. She would save him at all costs!

"Please... Silas..." Anna muttered, increasing her output. She didn’t notice the pale hand moving towards her face, and neither did the others.

"Anna... It’s okay..." Anna heard Silas’s soft and soothing voice in her ears, and for a moment, she thought it was all a dream. Then she felt his soft yet firm hand on her face, his thumb wiping her tears.

"I’m fine... rest now..."

Before Anna could say anything, massive threads wrapped around her and placed her beside Gromda and Chloe, who were dumbstruck at what they were witnessing. Echidna was the same. Her eyes were practically glowing in awe. She had never seen that before...

At that moment, the pressure hit them.

To the Valecrest members, it felt like something was pressing on them, but commanding them to stop and rest. But to Swef and the Astorias, it felt like the hand of a supreme being trying to squash them underneath its weight.
