Spy Wife Harem: SSS-rank Secret Organization
Chapter 61: Might of a tech-junky
[ "It’s not easy for him." ]
[ "They are a tough nut, after all." ]
The group was watching the boy convince weapons that were older than his entire bloodline. It was a fascinating sight to the rest of them. ℓ.
[ "Still, look at that. Six of them came. Six." ]
Beth was the most surprised by this fact as she giggled in their thought communication.
As the group watched the boy, they chatted through a private network, not disturbing the boy who now shared the same neural device as the rest of them.
[ "Who would have thought that he’d have the potential to wield six of them. The max that we had was-... ah." ]
Beth was a little too excited and ended up bringing up something bitter as she looked worriedly at Andrew. But, thankfully, he just shook his head with a smile and asked her to continue.
[ "They wouldn’t show interest in him if they knew he wasn’t good enough to use them to begin with. But, this one, it seems, contains more than just bodily potential." ]
Andrew would be chosen by more than them if that was possible, but he possessed a weapon that was one of a kind in thirty-three different realities. He cannot be the owner of any other weapon of the lower grade even though he can use any of them at will.
Unlike him, however, the relics that the other three ladies had on them were all that they could have from the ones available here.
They weren’t chosen by so many relics. Sammy got two, but even those were a kind of set.
The rest of them used relics that were unique in their own manner and were one of a kind. They represented their unique individual personalities and perhaps there exist other relics that’d choose them but finding them would be a more different task entirely.
Either way, to see six relics see enough potential in him to come forward alone was a big thing. If not now, if they unlock even half of his potential, then it was certain that at least one of them would go to him.
However, when that happens is a completely different story entirely.
< "You cannot handle a psychic scenario yet." >
One of the bigger boxes in the bunch circled him and slowly went back to their orbit above, resuming their rotation.
The remaining five, following that, started glowing with their unique lights.
< "Too dumb for the truth-seeing eyes." >
< "Too weak a constitution for shedding." >
< "Too much potential diversification. He should not be limited or tied down." >
And just like that. Three more were gone as they found the limitations that will simply break the boy as he is right now.
[ "Too much goes into their assessment, doesn’t it?" ]
[ "Why can’t they just keep it simple?" ]
Lily never really liked how complicated these weapons were. It’s not that anyone who’s strong enough to use them can use them.
The bar was simply too high for that to even be possible.
These were weapons crafted for certain personalities, holding certain powers, by people or literal gods who possessed certain complete truths.
The relics were manifestations of those truths, and a world that was condensed into the form of these relics. ℴℴ𝗺
The very reason they were confined to those strange boxes was because of their unfathomable raw power. In the open, they would exude so much energy that it’d crush this entire place. Some of them would melt everything here, while some would eradicate everything from existence itself.
In fact, this very thing had happened the first time they were here. If it weren’t for the relics that held this place together, the tomb and the will of its owner, then keeping these relics here wouldn’t even be possible.
The sites that they were originally discovered from were places where these ancient relics gained much of their power over the years, making the sites immune to that power. But, outside of the sites, they were weapons of mass destruction even when they didn’t really have any destructive qualities.
They built these boxes to keep them here, and while they were inside, the boxes allowed them to express themselves as well as they were doing right now.
[ "They aren’t so simple, after all." ]
It was not like these things were strong enough to put up any fight against the gods themselves. Before the divine, they were slightly better than toys, little things that were a tad-bit better than trash.
By themselves, the weapons weren’t what the Parliament needed. So, when they acquired the weapons and made a deal with them, they asked them to choose wielders that could help them in the Great Holy War that was to come.
Thus, ever since that day, while they have not had many chances, they see a new prospect try and claim his own ancient relic.
< "No. It will not work out." >
There was a small box and there was a big box. Of them, the small box that had hit him in the head earlier, returned to the orbit without giving any clear explanation for the decision.
[ "Hmm." ]
Andrew looked above at the box even though he didn’t do so for the rest of the relics and immediately shook his head while looking at the rest of his party.
[ "It looks like he just wasn’t ready yet." ]
They watched as the final big box, half of the boy’s size, circled around him a few more times.
He did not know what was inside the box, but the rest of them did. And even though the ’thing’ inside of it was utilising every possible means of judgement, the rest of them knew the better answer.
< "Boy... if only you didn’t have that connection..." >
With much hesitation, the big box flew back away into the orbit, leaving the boy with more questions than ever before.
"What do they mean by the connection?" He asked Andrew immediately, knowing well how he knew the answer already.
It wasn’t a coincidence that he shook his head at the rest of them. Arcos was paying attention to them the entire time.
He knew when they blinked at each other, how they were most certainly talking amongst themselves, as well as how they weren’t simply watching him.
They knew what the boxes contained and despite the will of the relics, the reality was better known by them.
"They meant your connection with your primordial god that gives you your bloodline power." The thunder god, one of the main gods of Pantheon. "The fact that you still have a connection with a divinity makes you a vulnerable individual. What happens when the divine finds out about the weapon you carry? They will most certainly extract you."
Being chosen as a god’s messenger was the greatest honour there could ever be. Being chosen by them, getting their stigmata, or even being appointed as their representative was a big deal to the people of this world.
But then again, those gods were the very enemies that they were fighting against.
"..." the fact that he carried the blood powered by that divine being made him a vulnerable individual to their cause.
And for that reason, the relics that must choose an individual worthy enough to put up a fight against those divine beings cannot choose a vulnerable asset like him.
"It’s not about you if they’ve concluded that the bloodline is an issue. But you don’t have to worry about that. We will deal with it in about a year."
He wasn’t the only one tied by the bloodline that they’d help. But, the ritual wasn’t a simple one so they cannot do anything about it for the time being.
"I guess you’ll have to come without one, little one." Lily stood up with the invitation letter in her hands.
She would activate the letter to transport them to the Organization’s assessment location once he gets back on his feet.
"Look, Arcos. You did well." Andrew was stepping forward to help the new recruit, but the boy was a mad one.
"No!" He picked up a golden dagger that was laying next to him and held it over his throat. "I know there’s more to this."
He saw Andrew looking up when that small box went up without any explanation.
It wasn’t worried about any specific reasons. He did not give any.
Their reasons needed to be definitive. That one didn’t give any.
He was sure Andrew believed that one, at least, would choose him. But when it didn’t, it came off as a surprise to him.
He knew there was something more to that. They were tricking him once again. But he won’t be played again. He wasn’t as naive as he was a moment ago.
He wasn’t going to leave until he got his answers. He would die here if that’s what’s needed.
"Tell me the truth!"
He looked up, specifically at the small box that roared differently from the rest.
He asked for answers... but in return, what he got was wrath.
< "You want the truth." >
He wasn’t ready for the truth.
Yet... he asked for it.
Now, he must handle the consequences.
