Chapter 23: Arrival of the guest

-Chirp. Chirp.

-Chirp~!

The birds inside the palace gardens sang a welcoming song as the grand front gates of the castle, the golden giants bejewelled with precious carvings and gems telling the story of the Mayn reign opened for an outsider carriage rolled inside.

"Welcome to the castle, Ms. Snowspire."

The far guide inside the carriage greeted her first the moment they were inside. This was finally the moment she had been waiting for.

Now that they are here, she can finally get rid of him and go on her own mission.

"Hmm."

She didn’t react like a normal outsider would even as she watched the golden gates, the vast gardens rich with trees and orchids. She didn’t react to the elaborate fountains or the magical air that filled the inside of the palace.

Her eyes were fixed on the towering palace that they were going towards. The palace wasn’t just a place that would give her something she wanted, but also a place where she needed to carry out her own mission.

< "I’m in." >

She activated her comm as soon as she was inside. And while there was a sudden static, she had gotten used to it over the years.

This static was the sign that their comm networks had overwritten the existing blocking devices and mechanisms to establish a unique connection of their own.

It wasn’t something simple since they weren’t making their own networks but riding different networks that existed in any place for this near telepathic communication.

The tech was elaborate and something Beth had invented for them after studying an ancient scripture they got from a rune of the older civilizations.

< "Welcome." >

The first voice she heard was exactly the voice she had been longing to hear all this time.

"Oh~ would you look at the castle~."

She wanted to punch this bastard in the face. Break his nose at least.

He had been a pain in her head all this time. She did not like the mere sight of him. And yet, she had endured enough of his foolishness.

Now that she was here, she knew she would be handed over to someone else. Someone who would stop her from getting too close to the investigation that was going on inside the castle.

Her visit today was public knowledge. One of the queens was supposed to greet her later. But while that was in place, the palace and the two powers present inside the palace would do everything in their power to stop her from getting into something that did not concern her.

If needed, they would use force. And if she resisted, well...

< "We begin as planned. Also, you should know about a few things first." >

Falcon, her husband, spoke to her about the things they saw in the gray tower of the castle. He spoke about the elemental power that those dark mages discovered, and he spoke about their infiltration into their networks.

Furthermore, he told her about the gray drugs and the effects of that thing.

< "What?" >

As a knight and a swordsman, she could not believe it for a moment. But then, she remembered all the other times when they had to deal with drugs.

The experiences weren’t pleasant for any of them. But that was fine. For the time being, they can deal with the fact that there was something very wrong with this royal family and focus on the mission that they were here for.

The carriage stopped before the main door of a guest annex building.

And as she walked down from the carriage, waiting for her in her princess gown right before her was a face that was already familiar to her.

"Greetings, Dame."

Princess Gwyneth De Mayn Victoria. The second youngest princess that ran the drug dan and the gray tower was here to greet her.
