Spy Wife Harem: SSS-rank Secret Organization
Chapter 18: A deeper look at the tower
When we separated from the pack of mages, or a Cult as it’s called in unison, we found ourselves in the very base of the tower once again.
Here, as we have suspected, there were things that should not be here: demonic children, those of purer blood than the mages.
They weren’t mages, not yet. They were children. Little children.
Scarred were their faces and deep black were their eyes as they groaned in pain and tears of their spilling black blood.
A tube was attached to their hands and feet, ones that didn’t seem to be injected into them medically.
They were shoved right into their veins by cutting their bodies as it sucked their blood drop by drop by drop...
They were children, born to humans and those possessed by the true demons. Their kind was called Demonoids, and they were not evil by nature. Not by birth.
Their blood and instincts of their kind made them cold and ruthless, inhuman in every sense. But they had a rational, a sense of self, feelings and they could learn to be within humans.
They did not need human blood to survive like the vampires, the nobles of the night. They did not rampage through cities like the Lycons.
They were born to the demons, and humans. Their fates were, therefore, much crueler than even those who borrow the powers of the demons through contracts.
’Their predecessors played with them, having subordinate control of their bodies and minds. In human society, they were monsters. And in the wild among beasts, they were too humane to survive on their own.’
Still, they were more common than those born with the jewelled eyes, those carrying the pure bloodline of the gods, like the king of Mayn.
These children, locked away in security cells even the mages of the tower did not seem to know the existence of, were looked after by people in white coats resembling those they saw in the drug lab.
They were extracting their blood, detoxifying it through the myriad processes, and making a clear fluid out of it.
This fluid, containing the antibodies and mana rich powers of the demonic race, were then diluted with drops of blood, red blood, one that seemed to belong to someone who could neutralise the demonic powers: a blessed one.
It wouldn’t have been the princess. She was a blessed one but she was also a princess.
She wouldn’t give her blood, not even for her own experiment.
She was too noble for that.
< "Let’s go." >
They knew there was something else here, something that made the princess use her power.
But to find it, Spot had to pull Andrew away from the unsightly lab of human evil.
She knew his heart... it had truly become softer.
< "Ah..." >
They found another room beside the Demonoid cells, a place that was no different from the previous one.
< "They’re nobles. We have them on record..." >
Missing, dead, lost... There have been many nobles who do not get to live the noble lives that common people think they enjoy.
There were many of them here, more than the demons, locked in cells... drugged, in a haze.
They did not know what was happening with them, how they were being drained of their blood.
It was... a worrying sight.
< "What the hell is that bitch up to?" >
They did not know it yet.
But once again, they had stumbled upon a bigger mess than what they had opted for.
They would have to find their way out of this if they wanted what they were looking for.
But they knew it won’t be easy now...
