Springtime Farming: A Happy Wife At Home

Chapter 2243: Finally Leaving

Chapter 2243: Finally Leaving

Consort Su couldn’t let the matter rest and sought Consort Fu’s intervention.

Consort Fu, fearful of disobedience, approached Qiao Xuan.

Qiao Xuan arranged their departure for the next day.

It was a relief when they left. She longed for her husband and missed Anan terribly!

The following day, as they exited Huaixi province, Consort Su felt an urge to curse and accuse Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan of treachery and malice. She wanted the commoners to condemn and despise them, to expose their true nature…

But she restrained herself. They were still in Huaixi, and angering Qiao Xuan could jeopardize her return to Jiangning.

“No, that won’t do.”

Despite her desire to vent, she understood the importance of her safety.

She didn’t want to die senselessly here…

Consort Su and Consort Fu’s journey seemed futile. They wandered aimlessly, barely noticing the scenery, retracing their steps.

Two days after leaving Huaixi province, Qiao Xuan sent a letter to Shao Yunduan.

Two days later, Shao Yunduan returned with Anan.

Anan had enjoyed himself, but missed his mother dearly. Finally being reunited filled him with joy. Running into Qiao Xuan’s arms, he exclaimed, “Mom! Mom!” Mother and son embraced, sharing a moment of laughter.

Shao Yunduan’s heart softened as he watched his wife and son chatting and laughing together.

The three of them returned to the room. Anan stayed close to Qiao Xuan, unwilling to leave her side. Seeing this, Shao Yunduan decided not to press the issue of homework, allowing Anan to stay.

With his son around, Shao Yunduan found himself at a loss for words with Qiao Xuan. He dared not touch her either.

After a while of chatting, Shao Yunduan gently squeezed Qiao Xuan’s hand and said with a smile, “I’m off to court now. We can have a good talk tonight.”

Qiao Xuan smiled in agreement. Anan was eagerly recounting his experiences at Huaixi Pass, and naturally, she joined in his excitement.

Shao Yunduan sighed helplessly and left.

Anan remained with Qiao Xuan for a long time. Seeing him yawning, she gently persuaded him to sleep.

Anan had been enjoying himself immensely lately, but the travel had tired him out. With Qiao Xuan’s soothing words, Anan soon drifted off to sleep.

Quietly, Qiao Xuan got up and left the room.

But as soon as she stepped out of Anan’s quarters, Shao Yunduan enveloped her in his arms.

Unable to contain himself, he eagerly hugged and kissed her.

Qiao Xuan chuckled and leaned into him. “What are you doing here?”

Shao Yunduan lowered his gaze, his eyes gleaming with a smile. “I miss you.”

Blushing slightly, Qiao Xuan replied, “It’s only been a few days…”

Shao Yunduan insisted, “My dear wife, I miss you every single day.”

The separation from her was something he never quite got used to.

After escorting her back to their residence, Shao Yunduan dismissed Liqiu, Caiyue, and the others. Finally, Anan went to bed, leaving his wife exclusively to him…

They savored each other’s company. Though it was late and time to retire for the night, they lingered lazily, unmoved. In their own domain, surrounded by trusted aides, they felt no urgency.

Anan must have been exhausted; he hadn’t stirred since falling asleep. They decided to wait until he woke, anticipating his inevitable search for his mother, too languid to budge.
