Chapter 2227: Looking for Trouble
Chapter 2227: Looking for Trouble
The servants and maidservants who had been serving there bowed to Lixia and left, returning to their tasks.
Consort Su erupted like a volcano, smashing objects in her surroundings to vent her anger. Her curses filled the air.
Witnessing this, Consort Fu felt fear, unease, and disdain. When Consort Su wasn’t paying attention, she quietly retreated with her attendants, returning to the east wing where she resided. She instructed her servants to close the door and, if asked, to say she was fatigued and resting.
She couldn’t tolerate Consort Su any longer.
This woman, resembling a bandit, only knew how to intimidate. In the harem, the concubines endured her bullying and humiliation due to her family’s influence and the Emperor’s protection. Did she truly believe she could act with impunity anywhere?
What a farce!
Even the most lenient families wouldn’t tolerate her insolence. Besides, the Shao Family was far from benevolent. If they were, they wouldn’t have so severely beaten her father.
Consort Su had a fit for a while, only stopping when she was panting from exhaustion.
Nanny Ling quickly signaled the palace maids and eunuchs to clean up the room. She hurriedly poured tea for Consort Su and attempted to comfort her.
Consort Su frowned suddenly and sneered. “Stop all of you! Nanny Ling, go out and fetch someone else to clean up!”
Nanny Ling’s eyes brightened. “Yes, Your Majesty!”
The inn’s servants had shown their audacity by defying Her Majesty earlier. Now that Madam Shao’s trusted aide had left, they would soon learn their lesson.
Soon, a steward and a few maidservants arrived. On seeing the mess in the room, they couldn’t help but frown.
These were the very individuals who had assisted Madam Shao’s trusted subordinates in their insubordination earlier. Nanny Ling smirked at them triumphantly. “Quickly clean up this mess! Then mop the floor thoroughly. Send someone to notify Madam Shao to dispatch a shipment of furnishings promptly.”
The stewardess instructed the servants to tidy up and sent a messenger to inform her mistress.
Unexpectedly, as they began cleaning, Nanny Ling snapped, “Her Majesty is resting in her chamber. How can she rest with all this noise? If you disturb Her Majesty’s rest, even losing your heads won’t compensate for it! Be quieter!”
Several servants exchanged glances.
The steward replied coldly, “Who cleans quietly? Since you seem to know so much, why don’t you do it yourself?”
“You dare to talk back!” Nanny Ling had been waiting for such defiance. Her eyes widened, eyebrows raised in anger. Moving forward swiftly, she slapped the steward hard. “You despicable fool, do as you’re told. Must Her Majesty accommodate your insolence?”
The stewardess was taken aback, her face burning as she covered it, trembling with anger.
Nanny Ling waved dismissively, adjusting her clothes with a snort of disdain as she glanced at the stewardess. “What are you waiting for? Get on with it! Or do you all want to be slapped?”
Suppressing her anger, the stewardess responded coolly, “Proceed with the cleaning.”
Nanny Ling cautioned, “Quietly! And be gentle! Otherwise, you’ll see a side of me you won’t like.”
She had only let out about 30% of her frustration. There was still 70% left, but she wasn’t in a rush. Soon, she’d exact her revenge with interest.
These individuals were asking for trouble. After a few more lessons, they’d learn what’s acceptable and what’s not.
