Ye Feng looked at Li Guanqi with barely a flicker of emotion. His icy gaze seemed devoid of all humanity.

Lu Tian’s eyes glinted with a sickening excitement, his face etched with pure satisfaction. He let out a booming laugh. “Hahaha! Wonderful. Well done!”

More than three years after their last great battle, the scene he had waited so long to witness was finally unfolding before him. It was not yet the final act he longed to see, but even this was enough to exhilarate him.

Li Guanqi flew into a rage. The sight of Song Zhi’ang standing there, expressionless as though none of this concerned her, only fueled his anger. He gripped his sword and struck at her twice. “Thunder Wrath! World Annihilation!”

Song Zhi’ang stared at the sword light hurtling toward her, then at the almost crazed killing intent in Li Guanqi’s eyes. A chill ran through her. There was so much she wanted to say, so much she wanted to explain. But faced with his bloodthirsty gaze, the words caught in her throat. She could not speak.

Ye Feng spun around. Vital force surged through him as he threw everything he had into two sword strikes.

Boom! Bang!

Blood sprayed through the air. Ye Feng had forced his way in front of Song Zhi’ang and taken the remaining force of the sword light head-on.

He was wounded all over. Blood soaked his black robes and dripped from the hem. He lowered his sword hand and stood silently behind Lu Tian, his head bowed.

The corner of Lu Tian’s mouth curled upward. Still a little short… but there’s no hurry.

Snarling flame wraiths surrounded them. Lu Tian smiled faintly and reached out to crush a dark green wraith ten zhang tall. Vast demonic qi spread across the sky as he surveyed his surroundings, his expression unreadable.

Then he waved his hand. Below, the dead demonized cultivators returned to life and rose one after another, their fatal wounds gone. Many looked bewildered. The powerful cultivators watching from the shadows drew sharp breaths.

Lu Tian’s cool voice rang out. “People of the Six Territories, remember my name. I am Lu Tian, master of the Heavenly Demon Pavilion. Follow me, and I shall grant you eternal life!”

He turned toward the distant void beside him and sneered. “Meng Jiangchu, one day I’ll make you pay.”

Lu Tian tore open the void to leave with Ye Feng and Song Zhi’ang, but Li Guanqi roared and gave chase. “Stop! Ye Feng, why are you doing this? Say something! Song Zhi’ang, I should’ve killed you long ago! You bitch!”

He gripped his sword again. Cracks spread across the entire blade in a single breath, and several lightning sword lights infused with sword intent slashed toward them.

Lu Tian turned to look at Li Guanqi with a mocking smile. Ye Feng and Song Zhi’ang stood behind Lu Tian, their backs to Li Guanqi, neither turning around.

Lu Tian raised a hand and shattered two of the sword lights. Turning away again, he said coldly, “Just wait, Li Guanqi. I still have a grand surprise in store for you. Hahahaha! Remember this: from now on, my name is Lu Tian.”

Whoosh!

The spatial crack closed. At the same time, all the resurrected cultivators dissolved into demonic qi and vanished. Nearly every cultivator whose corpse had remained intact had been revived, around two thousand in all.

Li Guanqi stared at the empty air where the crack had been, then coughed up a mouthful of blood. Blood mist sprayed from his lips as he swayed and fell from the sky.

Boom!

Scorching flames erupted as though they would burn the heavens. Meng Jiangchu charged out of the void in armor, sword in hand. He caught Li Guanqi as he fell, his expression changing when he sensed the turmoil within Li Guanqi’s body. He hurriedly suppressed the surging energy using his heavenly flame.

Then Gu Changsheng arrived, treading on heavenly flames. The moment he saw Li Guanqi, his gaze sharpened and his face tightened with anger. He cursed under his breath. “You’re too reckless!”

Gu Changsheng hurriedly extracted the lingering medicinal power from Li Guanqi’s body. Nearby, Meng Jiangchu looked coldly over the corpses piled below. With a snort, he shaped dark green flames into five vengeful ghosts, each a hundred zhang tall. “Five Ghosts Devouring Corpses!”

The ghosts devoured every demonic cultivator’s corpse on the ground. Flames spread across an area ten thousand zhang wide, burning away nearly all the lingering demonic qi.

Meng Jiangchu took a deep breath. He would have to set up a rapid transport array within the Daxia Sword Sect. Otherwise, he would never reach the sect in time to help if trouble struck again. If the earlier events hadn’t struck him as strange, he might still have been on his way.

Gu Changsheng sighed. “This brat can’t keep acting so recklessly. Old Guo and the other two only just finished mending his meridians! Even those freaks from the ancient clans would call the way he forced his vital force through them insane. His body may be strong, but he can’t keep abusing it like this!”

Meng Jiangchu looked at Li Guanqi, who lay unconscious with his brow tightly furrowed, and sighed. “Don’t blame him… You probably wouldn’t have handled it any better in his place. That one-armed man who drew his sword earlier was his sworn brother… They’ve fought countless life-and-death battles together since he first began cultivating. That woman was once a fellow sect member too, but she’s the reason Sha is still alive today. Could you really stay rational in Li Guanqi’s position?”

Gu Changsheng’s mouth fell open, but he remained silent for a long while. In Li Guanqi’s place, he probably would have swallowed every pill he had too.

He sighed and placed a palm against Li Guanqi’s back. “All right. I’ll take care of him. Go see what happened to those people outside who were resurrected earlier. And there’s the Heavenly Demon Pavilion. The Sha organization has changed its name, and Sha himself now calls himself Lu Tian. Even from a great distance, I could tell these demonized cultivators had power unlike anything we’ve seen from them before.”

Meng Jiangchu gave a grim nod and said coldly, “Something is definitely wrong. Resurrection, eternal life… just imagine how tempting those things would be to certain people! In fact, I don’t think his real target this time was the Daxia Sword Sect.”

Gu Changsheng’s eyes widened in surprise. “You mean… his real purpose was to let every cultivator secretly watching the battle know about the Heavenly Demon Pavilion? And to show them that he can bring the dead back to life and even grant them eternal life?”
