Chapter 512: Chapter 512: Trespassing

[Third Person Pov]

Doom strode through the shadowed corridors of his Castle until he reached the heart of his personal laboratory. The vast chamber stretched around him like the interior of some colossal machine, its walls lined with humming consoles, suspended holographic schematics, and racks of incomplete armor plates that pulsed with latent energy. He came to a halt in the center of the room and raised both hands.

Emerald and black magic ignited between his gauntleted fingers, crackling in restless arcs that painted the laboratory in flickering green light. At his silent command the air filled with motion. Massive mechanical components— metal segments, power cores, reinforced plating, intricate assemblies—tore free from their restraints and began to orbit him in a controlled storm of metal and steel. They spun and twisted with lethal precision, colliding in sharp, ringing *clanks* as they locked together according to Doom’s will.

With one hand he guided a heavy thoracic plate into position; with the other he summoned a nested series of energy conduits and forced them to interlock. Piece by piece the unfinished construct took shape around him, responding to every minute gesture as though the machinery itself feared to disobey.

Then, abruptly, everything froze.

Doom’s head tilted a fraction. The swirling metal halted mid-air, suspended in perfect stillness.

"Who dares trespass into the domain of Doom...?" His voice was soft, almost conversational. A moment later a cold, knowing amusement entered it. "Ah. Of course. I should have known."

He lowered his hands. Every component crashed to the floor in a thunderous cascade of metal, the echoes rolling through the laboratory like distant artillery.

"Doom expected their arrival," he murmured. "I shall greet them as they once greeted me."

He turned and began walking toward the exit, cloak whispering across the floor.

"With hostility... and bias."

---

Doom moved through a grand, vaulted hall whose walls were lined with banners and trophies of conquest. At a simple flick of his fingers the heavy doors at the far end swung open, revealing the night sky beyond. Wind rushed in, catching his cloak and sending it billowing behind him. At his side, Mjolnir hung from a newly forged belt-loop, the hammer striking lightly against his thigh with every measured step.

He stepped out onto the wide stone balcony that overlooked the capital of Latveria. Far below, the lights of the city glimmered like scattered embers. For a brief moment Doom gazed down upon his people—his kingdom, his responsibility, his triumph. Then his eyes lifted to the sky, and the green light within his iron mask hardened into pure, concentrated hostility.

He extended one hand toward the empty air.

Force and magic rippled outward across an invisible structure high above the castle. The more the hidden craft struggled against his grasp, the more its cloaking field flickered and failed. Layer by layer the invisibility peeled away until the Crimson Weaver stood fully revealed against the night—its black-and-red hull gleaming under the moonlight, engines still straining against an unseen hold.

From behind it the Fantasticar surged into view, white-and-blue plating flashing as it charged toward the balcony at full throttle.

Doom simply raised his other hand.

Both aircraft jerked to a violent stop, held fast in the air like insects pinned beneath glass.

Inside the Weaver’s cockpit, Nightwing wrestled with the controls, muscles straining. "It’s... not... budging!"

Peter’s voice remained unnervingly calm over the shared channel. "Engaging weapons."

"Oooh—let me do it!" Felicia’s seat harness clicked open. A section of the cabin wall slid aside with a hydraulic hiss, revealing a gunnery station. She slid into the seat with predatory eagerness. "I’m a lucky shot after all."

Doom’s eyes narrowed as the twin turrets extended from the Weaver’s underside and locked onto him.

A moment later the night erupted.

A storm of heavy-caliber rounds screamed downward, each shell bright with lethal intent. Felicia’s laughter rang through the cabin as she held the triggers down, the entire gunnery station vibrating under the recoil. On the targeting screen Doom’s armored figure remained centered and unmoving, and the manic gleam in her eyes only sharpened.

Then the impossible happened.

Every bullet slowed.

The entire barrage decelerated as though the air itself had thickened into molasses. Shell after shell drifted to a complete stop, hanging motionless in the space between the aircraft and the castle balcony.

Doom tilted his head.

The suspended rounds reversed orientation with perfect synchronicity, their noses now pointing back toward the Weaver. He released them.

The retaliatory volley struck the aircraft’s vibranium plating with a series of deep, resonant impacts. The force rippled visibly across the hull. Inside the cabin Felicia and Bruce both cried out as the ship shuddered under the returned fire.

Doom’s green eyes narrowed further, the corners of his armored mouth curling into a cold sneer.

"Fools. Nothing will stand in the way of the wrath of Doom."

He began to move both hands in slow, deliberate patterns. Telekinetic force lashed outward like invisible claws. Armor plating on both the Weaver and the Fantasticar began to peel away in great metallic sheets, bolts shearing, seams splitting under irresistible pressure. The aircraft groaned and twisted as structural integrity failed piece by piece.

Inside the cabins, screams erupted. Bodies were thrown against restraints as the vehicles bucked and spun.

Peter’s voice cut through the chaos over the internal speakers, strained but still trying for gallows humor. "Everyone hold on to your loved ones! We seem to be experiencing some slight turbulence!"

"You call this light*l?!" Lizzy shouted back, knuckles white around her harness.

Red warning lights strobed through the cockpit. Alarm blared in overlapping waves as systems failed one after another. The Crimson Weaver and the Fantasticar hung in the sky, and on the balcony below, Doctor Doom stood unmoving—Mjolnir at his side, magic crackling around his raised hands—ready to finish what he had begun.

"Everyone!" Reed Richards’s voice cut sharply across the open communication link, calm but urgent. "Evacuate! Abandon ship!"

"No!!" Harry’s cry was raw, almost broken. Tears already glistened at the corners of his eyes as he stared at the failing controls of the Weaver. "Not my baby! I poured my heart and soul into her! She’s the love of my life!"

"Hey!!" Lizzy’s indignant shout echoed from the passenger cabin behind them.

Peter clamped a steadying hand on Harry’s shoulder. "We’ll build a stronger, better version next time. Right now we need to move!"

Harry let out a long, anguished wail as he ripped off his headset and tore free of his harness. "Ahhhhh!"

On the balcony below, Doom slowly closed one armored hand into a fist. Sparks of emerald energy leapt between the two aircraft. Systems failed in cascading waves. Warning lights flared. Hull integrity collapsed.

The Fantasticar went first.

It erupted in a blinding sphere of fire and smoke high above the castle. Through the expanding fireball the Fantastic Four shot free, cocooned inside a shimmering force field that Susan held around them like a protective shell.

Doom flicked the burning wreckage aside as though it were nothing more than discarded refuse. Then both hands turned toward the Crimson Weaver. The concentrated telekinetic pressure was merciless. Metal screamed. The aircraft crumpled inward for a fraction of a second—then detonated in a second, larger explosion that painted the night sky in violent crimson and orange.

High above the blast a dimensional portal snapped open. The entire Spider-Family was hurled through it on the shockwave, tumbling into open air.

Bruce took the worst of the force. His body spun away from the others, plummeting faster and farther.

"BRUCE!" Peter and Nightwing shouted in unison.

Peter fired a web-line, snagged Bruce’s back, and yanked him back into the falling formation between them.

Inside the force field Johnny pointed downward. "Sue! Drop the barrier!"

"What? Are you insane?!" Susan snapped, still holding them aloft.

"Look at them!" Johnny gestured toward the Spider-Family, who had already locked into a tight diving formation, streaking straight toward Castle Doom. "They’re going in!"

Ben smashed one rocky fist into the opposite palm. "Do it, Sue!"

Susan glanced at Reed. He gave her a single, firm nod.

She exhaled hard. "Ugh—fine!"

The force field vanished.

"Flame On!" Johnny ignited, seizing Ben around the midsection and rocketing them both forward on a trail of fire.

Susan let out a startled yelp, suddenly feeling the force of gravity against her even if it happened at her own volition.

"Don’t worry, I have you" Reed said confidently as he elongated in an instant, wrapping his stretching arms around Susan and transforming himself into a living parachute that carried them both in a controlled glide toward the castle.

Far below, Bruce’s eyes snapped open mid-fall with a started gasp and anxious called out to his saving grace, "HULK—!"

Green flooded the irises. Muscles swelled. Bones cracked and reformed.

The transformation finished in a roar of pure power, responding to the summons as he always did.

"—SMASH!!"

Ben’s answering bellow rolled across the sky. "It’s clobberin’ time!"

Johnny kept propelling the Thing forward like a living missile.

Somewhere in the chaotic descent Thor’s laughter rang out, bright and delighted. He held a vibranium hammer in one hand and a matching shield in the other. "Hahaha! This is fun!"

Aria kept a firm grip on his arm as they fell. "Easy, pretty boy. No need to ruin that handsome face with a rough landing."

On the balcony Doom watched the incoming storm of heroes with something close to fascination. Then he stepped backward in a smooth, sliding motion, retreating into the grand hall just as Hulk and the Thing smashed through the balcony and the tall windows beyond it. Stone and glass exploded inward in a rain of rubble and debris.

Peter and Harry rode the impact perched on Hulk’s massive shoulders. Lizzy and Johnny streaked in behind them on trails of flame. Aria released Thor, who hit the polished floor in a controlled roll and came up ready. The rest of the Spider-Family landed in their own signature styles, forming a loose perimeter. Susan touched down last beside Ben; Reed unraveled from his parachute form and stood tall at her side.

Dust and smoke still swirled through the ruined hall.

Peter straightened atop Hulk’s shoulder, voice carrying clearly across the space.

"Return what you took from Thor and we’ll leave. No harm, no foul."

Doom rose slowly to his full height. The green light in his eyes burned with cold contempt as he surveyed the assembled heroes, the shattered balcony, and the flames still licking at the night sky outside. When he spoke, his voice was eerily calm—each word weighted like a royal decree.

"You entered my kingdom without permission. You trespassed upon sovereign territory. You laid siege to my castle and attacked its rightful ruler. And now, after committing an act of aggression against Latveria, you stand before Doom and demand that he surrender what he has rightfully conquered?"

His armored fist tightened. Emerald energy crackled between his fingers.

"Tell me, then. Should Doom interpret this hostile incursion as what it plainly appears to be?" His eyes narrowed to burning slits. "A declaration of war."

Nightwing stepped forward along Hulk’s shoulder, escrima sticks sliding into his hands with a soft metallic snap. "Do what you want. We’re not afraid of you."

Magic flared violently across Doom’s gauntlets, flooding the ruined hall with harsh green light.

"Then you will die braver than most."

Peter and Harry both froze. They turned to look at each other, then simultaneously pointed at Doom with their thumbs.

"Was that... that was from Star Wars!" Harry said, quick to catch the reference.

Peter looked straight at the armored monarch and let out a sharp, incredulous laugh. "Yeah—you totally stole that line, you little thief. What else are you planning on stealing while you’re at it?"

Behind the iron mask, one of Doom’s eyes gave a single, visible twitch.
