Spending My Retirement In A Game

Chapter 293 - Fate Merchant

"Then get your asses up, you two. Come with me to the Work area. And Xenia, can you write down the most important part of the enchantment for us?" The old man asked, and the young High-Elf nodded her head with a smile and grabbed a piece of paper, before one of the two that offered their help to Eisen came up to him.

"Hey, so… While we're waiting, can we go and talk about the Quest?" Komer asked with a wry smile, before Eisen looked at him and immediately nodded his head. "Of course! Then let's go outside and talk about this in private." Eisen suggested as he stood up, setting Caria and Melissa down on his chair, even though they wanted to come with him, and then the old man and Komer made their way out to the roof of the meeting room again, which had become a little bit of a 'private' area, apparently.

"Alright, you're done with the Quest?" Eisen asked the young merchant, who nodded his head excitedly.

"Yep! I mean, it was really just flipping coins, and then the cleanup after each flip… So it didn't take all that long, really." Komer admitted, before Eisen nodded his head with a grin. "Yeah, sorry for just disappearing on you for a few days." Eisen said apologetically, but Komer just shook his head.

"That's fine, I only missed out on a bit of experience, right? Well, that and whatever the question-marks are in the quest…" He replied, and Eisen looked at him with a smirk. "Well… About that…" The old man said with a wry smile, before he looked at the young merchant in front of him.

"Good job, you completed the Quest." Eisen told him, before a notification seemed to appear in front of Komer at the same time that Eisen saw one as well.

[You have led Komer on the right path toward the Unique Occupation <Fate Merchant>]

And immediately, Komer's eyes opened wide in surprise. "What?! Yes!" The young merchant yelled out to confirm the notification, before Eisen simply continued smirking.

"Holy shit…" Komer muttered out quietly, before looking up at Eisen. "Did you know about me getting an occupation?" He asked with an excited smile, before Eisen nodded his head.

"I got the notification that I'm leading you in the direction of a unique occupation, and it seems like the Quest took that on and turned it into a hidden reward." The old man explained with a smile on his face, before Komer nodded his head excitedly.

"That's actually really cool! Oh, and I got the skill 'Fate Perception' together with the occupation!" Komer exclaimed as he read through all of the notifications with a big grin, and Eisen simply chuckled.

"Is that so? What does the description of the skill say?" Eisen asked curiously, before Komer nodded his head and opened some different notifications before reading through them, staring into the middle of the air as he said, "'You are now able to perceive the fate of other beings. Mend it, mold it, and use it to your advantage' is what it says. Hmm, then maybe…" Komer muttered out, before he looked in front of himself at Eisen.

Slowly, the old man could see a few things happen now. For one, everything beside Komer's actual body, including his clothes or hair, began to float as if completely weightless, while the young Merchant's eyes turned turned completely white all the way through.

"Huh… That looks like a pretty powerful skill…" The old man chuckled to himself, before Komer responded with a smile. "Is that so? Erm… Honestly, I don't really know what it is what I'm seeing here. There's something like a golden hue everywhere in front of me…" Komer muttered out, staring in front of himself and trying to figure out what was going on, before he sighed and turned around toward the ocean.

"W-Wait, what… E-Eisen, are you here? Eisen!" Komer said in a panick, but Eisen simply placed his hand onto the young man's shoulder, which seemed to calm him down a bit. "Don't worry, I'm here. What are you seeing?" Eisen asked with a frown, but Komer simply turned back around.

"Nothing… I mean, now I see the golden hue again, but before, it was black… completely, pitch black…" Komer muttered out, and Eisen simply looked at him with a frown.

"Really, you just saw nothing? Then what is the golden hue you're talking about?" Eisen asked, before Komer shrugged. "I don't know, really. Although, wait… Wait!" Komer exclaimed, before turning around and stepping in the direction of the darkness, although surprisingly, he was suddenly able to move completely normal in complete darkness.

And then, the merchant grinned broadly. But before Eisen could actually ask what was going on, Komer responded.

"I saw you! The golden hue was you!" He exclaimed excitedly, but Eisen just tilted his head to the side a slight bit, and Komer responded with a smirk. "No, rather, I saw your fate! That golden hue is you in the future, or what you could become if you keep going this way!"

"I don't get it, then why did you have to run over here to figure that out?" Eisen asked confused, and Komer just grinned.

"Because you were too big for me to notice! We were standing pretty close next to each other, but you were five meters tall or something! So I saw the golden hue of your form further increased in size!" Komer explained, and Eisen looked at him surprised.

"Five meters? Huh…" Eisen muttered out, before Komer looked at him curiously. "I just wonder how far away this 'fate' still is…" The young man muttered, before he looked over toward the source of a certain noise, where he could see another Golden figure, which he didn't recognize right away.

"Eisen? Caria and Melly are bored!" A young Myconid exclaimed with a pout on her face, and then Komer opened his eyes wide as he also noticed another golden figure coming from behind the first one.

"Caria and Melissa… A few years older?" Komer muttered to himself confused, before Eisen turned down toward him with a frown. "What? What do you mean, a few years older?" The old man asked, before Komer pointed toward the two monster girls.

"I see Caria and Melissa a few years older! I mean, I can't see many details, but it's obviously them now that I think about it… They're both a little bit taller, for the most part… It's not a big change, but maybe…"

"You can see a Monster's most probable evolution?" Eisen asked, ending Komer's sentence just the way he himself intended to.

"I think so, yeah!" He responded, and Eisen looked at him with a smirk. "I see… that's pretty nice. Hmm, then maybe what you see for me now is what I would look like after all my skills ranked up again… Or maybe what it would be like when I complete my next level-up quest as it is now?" Eisen suggested, and Komer shrugged.

"I don't know, either way, it's pretty cool!" Komer answered, before Eisen nodded his head with a smirk.

"It is, yeah. Try it out on the others a bit!" Eisen suggested, and Komer nodded his head with a smile, before he deactivated his skill and then followed the old man, who picked Caria and Melissa up and stepped back down the stairs in front of him, before they made their way back into the Meeting Room, where Komer swiftly demonstrated his interesting new skill and looked around at the others around him.

"Alright… I mean, basically, nearly everyone looks the same as they do now… Although, I do think that Sky and Bree might be a little taller?" Komer said as he tilted his head to the side. Immediately, the two Fey-Kin twins looked at each other with bright expressions at the fact that they would be able to grow, before Brody asked about something Komer just said.

"And who doesn't look the same? You just said 'nearly'." The Demon-Orc Halfling asked, and Komer scratched the back of his neck. "Well, everyone with monster-blood, I guess. As I just said, Sky and Bree seem a little taller. Faires are technically monsters, right? Eisen's change is the most noticable, because he's 5 meters tall in my eyes right now. Then, the others that changed are Caria and Melissa, who seemed to have gotten a bit older, Brody, Kiron, and even Jyuuk. He's the only one without monster-blood who changed, though." Komer explained, before everyone looked at Komer, hopeful to have him explain in what ways they changed.

"So… Brody, your tusks and horns are bigger. Kiron, your wings slightly changed, and you seem somewhat taller as well. And Jyuuk, the only change that I can tell you for sure is that your tail became longer?" Komer asked with a wry smile, before the Monkey-Beastperson spoke up.

"Huh… Brody, do you have a transformative skill?" Jyuuk asked, but the Demon-Orc just shrugged.

"I don't have a skill, it's just part of my Demon Racial skill. A Demon's horns grow bigger the stronger it gets." He replied, so Jyuuk nodded his head, before coming to a conclusion.

"Alright, so then right now, you can only see actual physical changes. My tail has actually already changed a bit, because I've been working on leveling a skill up that lets me utilize it better. I'm guessing Kiron's body changes overall the more he goes against the 'Stolen Strength Curse' and regains his stats. Brody's horns and probably tusks as well change as he levels up enough, and why the big guy changed is also pretty obvious in my opinion." Jyuuk suggested, before he looked at Sky and Bree.

"Do you know if Fey-Kin grow physically older as they level up?" He asked, but Bree shook her head immediately. "Well, not directly! But Half-Monsters end up mock-ranking-up sometimes every 100 levels. It's mostly a subtle change, but their body's physicality increases in general a lot. Mostly that only starts happening at level 200 or 300 though… Maybe because Sky and I are still young and not 100% physically mature, that happens~?" She suggested, and Komer ended up shrugging in response to it.

"Well, maybe, we'll have to confirm later. I'll just keep checking every once in a while, and then if the new image I have of you with the 'Fate Perception' changes, I can just tell you about it, and we can try to figure out what the hell it is that I can see! Oh, and-" Suddenly, Komer just stopped talking in confusion as he stumbled back a bit.

"Everything alright?" Eisen asked with a frown, before Komer slowly nodded his head. "Yeah, everything's fine… My sight just turned completley golden all of a sudden, and I guess it's because of this guy here…" He suggested, before deactivating his skill and turning around to take a look at the small dragon that was standing behind him, who ended up just tilting its head to the side in confusion. "Mhm… Fafnir's change is the greatest… He turned from being about 1 meter long, to directly being 5 meters long…" The Merchant pointed out, and Eisen looked at the small living-dungeon dragon in surprise, before looking down at Caria who the old man was holding in his arms.

"I mean… I guess that makes sense. When Caria was at Rank 1, she was pretty tiny as well. Fafnir is about as big as she is now, and he's only Rank 1, so a large change at early ranks seems pretty natural, right?" Eisen suggested as he looked over toward Jyuuk, who nodded his head.

"I mean, I guess? Maybe it's going to slow down, but maybe he's going to keep growing at that rate, and will end up over 600 meters long at Rank 4…" He muttered quietly, before scratching the back of his head.

"Although, if he's going to stick to Eisen, he's most likely going to turn into a humanoid creature sooner or later… Just like Caria and Melissa." The Monkey suggested, before the others began to chuckle, and Brody spoke up.

"I mean, at least it's going to be a dude this time around, and not another little girl." He pointed out, although he was currently looking at Eisen's back, "Huh? What're you doin', you geezer?" Brody asked, before Eisen turned around and held forward the black sphere he had in his bag.

"Oh, nothing… You guys just reminded me of something." Eisen admitted, before the sphere in his hand slowly began to shake, seemingly having just waited for Eisen to pick it up again.

"My third tamed Monster."
