Chapter 1404: A Domain Epiphany
“… Original Magic.”
~BOOMMMM~
As the world was bathed in light, Neron suddenly realized what had felt missing in his life all this while.
There was a new sense of excitement he was feeling and he knew that it was as a result of the mana particles he now felt from his fingertips to the rest of his body. frёewebnoѵēl.com
He had missed the feeling and now felt complete as it washed over him and the surrounding.
Added to the fact that he was now floating in the air, he felt unstoppable as he gazed down on the area.
The monster that had seemed fierce before now looked small and weak from where he was.
As he hovered in the air, his senses heightened as he felt the raw energy coursing through him and he wondered how to go about eliminating the creature.
There were different ways to go about it, naturally he had to go for the most efficient one.
He felt connected to everything as he saw the mana particles all around him.
The sensation wasn’t just exhilarating; it was empowering and he embraced it.
His thoughts turned to Mordred, his father and he wondered whimsically if he could replicate his original magic.
After all, he had admired and envied him for his domain. It was only natural he thought about it at the moment.
Mordred would lay out a domain in which he controlled everything that happened within it.
Some called it reality manipulation, but the Grand Mage personally preferred referring to this power as simple architecture.
The world made by this Magic was his to build. He could create anything within it, and he could just as well destroy.
It was a power that made him invincible—worthy enough to be labeled as the strongest Grand Mage of the Kingdom.
Neron knew all this which was why he chose to channel his magic. What worried him slightly was the complexity as he was unsure if he could do the same thing.
He closed his eyes and focused, letting the mana guide him and feeling it dance around his fingertips, just as he had seen his father do so many times before.
Slowly, a shape began to form—a shimmering sphere of light.
“Let’s see if I can match you, Father,” he whispered.
With a flick of his wrist, he released the magic.
It spread out into the form of a domain but as quickly as it came, it went out.
“Must have gotten it wrong,” He said to himself as he felt the power fizzle out but he attributed the failure to a fluke.
Neron steadied himself, determined not to falter again. He felt the raw energy still pulsing through him, a reminder of the power he now held.
“Focus,” he whispered, pushing aside the doubt. He visualized the domain once more, this time concentrating on the intricacies of control and creation. Mana swirled around him, forming a luminous barrier.
Slowly but surely, the sphere expanded, shimmering with a bright neon light. Neron smiled, a glint of pride flashing in his eyes. It wasn’t perfect yet, but it was something. “I’m getting closer Father,” he muttered, ready to wield his growing power with brute force if necessary.
Just like before, the sphere shrinked in size and before his eyes, it died down.
He was about to complain to himself but something suddenly struck him and he paused as he ruminated on the idea.
“Oh, that’s it,” He said, grinning to himself as he suddenly felt rejuvenated. Before the sphere fizzled out, he got an epiphany on what the problem was.
He twisted himself in midair and expelled all the mana he could muster out of his body as he floated around.
He felt everything around him slow down till it finally paused. He wasn’t sure if it was in his head and he looked around in wonderment to discover that he was indeed the only person that could move. Everything else was at a standstill.
He couldn’t believe his eyes as he studied his environment. He had created his own domain and a powerful one at that.
He quickly came up with a name for his Original Magic; All The Time In The World.
From observing it, he could see that it had many functions. One was the reversal of the physical state of something—even down to the energy expended. Another was merging both past, present, and future events and tying them to form a loop.
—A Time Loop.
Other applications of his Magic existed—such as ensuring all things invading his immediate area were instantly paused, or even placing his body under a loop so he never aged.
Even in the extremely unlikely event that he received damage, his body would replay the loop and he would be completely restored.
It was strange that the ability to do something like that would fall into the hands of Neron who didn’t care much about power.
Maintaining the domain alone took so much mana but then the amount of Mana within him was stupendously bountiful which made Neron an ideal candidate for it.
He floated in his domain, everything around him frozen in a perpetual loop. The monster below, once terrifying, now seemed utterly insignificant. He could see every detail of its form, every twitch and movement locked in place, powerless to break free.
He grinned, the sheer magnitude of what he had just accomplished dawning on him. “All the time in the world,” he murmured, the name of his Original Magic rolling off his tongue like an old secret finally remembered.
With a simple thought, he summoned a concentrated ball of mana in his palm. The light grew brighter and hotter as he infused it with his energy.
He aimed it at the beast below, knowing its regeneration would be useless in the frozen state he had trapped it in.
“Let’s finish this,” Neron whispered.
He released the energy.
~BOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM~
A huge explosion engulfed the monster, vaporizing it in an instant. The air shimmered with heat as the dust settled, but the creature—no, the threat—was gone. Reduced to nothing.
Neron descended slowly, releasing the domain as time resumed its natural flow. He smiled, feeling a deep satisfaction. “Guess I matched you after all, Father.”
