Chapter 1318 Battle Within ORIGIN [Pt 1]

Chapter 1318 Battle Within ORIGIN [Pt 1]

Silence pervaded ORIGIN after Legris words.

Lewis and Karlia, as well their little Automaton, did not say anything to him.

However, that didn’t mean they weren’t communicating.

~You’ve spoken to him. Are you satisfied now?~

Karlia’s thoughts oozed into Lewis, and he had no choice but to nod despite a sad expression still remaining on his face.

‘Yeah. Seems we’ll have to do it your way.’

Right now, stopping Legris was the top priority, and it seemed they were the last line of defense for the entirety of existence.

“The both of you could have easily stopped me by getting [All Things] for yourselves. It seemed you arrived here before me, and the prize is in sight. Yet… why do you not reach for it?” Legris’ voice echoed into the deep, blank void.

The question he asked was most likely a rhetorical one.

After all, he already knew the answer.

“You can’t, can you? You possess primarily Nether, and not enough of the two primordial elements. Even though you were able to chart a course for this place, you can only remain at the surface and not delve any deeper.”

The closer one got to [All Things], the more it demanded certain qualities from the one who neared it.

“From the memories I absorbed from Aether, apparently an entity beyond this world and its concepts—the one who designed everything—was the one who conceived [All Things] and left it here… in Origin.”

Legris smiled even broader as he said the name.

“The Crafter. He made all things. And now, I will have that same power.”

“Not if we can help it!” Karlia’s response was swift, and from her stance alone it was obvious she was preparing herself for a fight.

“You really think you can win?” Legris asked in a nearly disconcerted tone.

However, even though he said this, caution remained in his heart.

‘They’re both weaker than me, but that doesn’t matter in this place.’

Useless things like ‘Authorities’ or ‘Concepts’ were broken down in ORIGIN.

Plus, the nature of their combination made it a little problematic for Legris.

‘I should assume that Lewis is as intelligent as Jared, and Karlia was strong enough to defeat The Nether.’

They both had a keen sense of battle, and their synergy together was also something he could not underestimate.

‘There’s also the last card that I’m unaware of…’

He was referring to The Ursula with that.

All three of them wanted to stop him from achieving his goals, and while they had all the time in the world, he was getting a little impatient.

‘No time for fun and games.’

He was so close!

He could feel his hunger… he was already salivating.

Legris could no longer bear the call that constantly rang in his head, and the allure of unlimited power and knowledge.

That was why…

“I’ll end this as swiftly as possible.”

… He gazed mercilessly upon the trio before him.

Death was their only destination.

********

‘We have to be cautious. As planned, we’ll attack as a team.’

~Understood!~

Both Lewis and Karlia exchanged glances, nodding at each other in the process.

~I’ll support you two. Good luck!~

This time, The Ursula spoke to the two of them, and they smiled—albeit nervously.

Their current tactic was simple but effective.

Karlia and Lewis would alternate between heavy hitting, while doing their best to ensure he didn’t break past their formation.

The Ursula would observe the match from a distance and come to their aid if they were ever to make an error, or if Legris managed to get the upper hand.

Once all three had agreed on the plan, their resolved faces signaled the start of the mission.

‘Let’s go!’

~BZZZTTTTZZZZ!!!~

Lewis instantly summoned a tentacle-like staff, while his entire body transformed into his Grand Mage Mode.

Energy burst from him, and his entire capabilities improved radically.

Of course, he could not manipulate concepts or even affect anything within ORIGIN, but as long as he was personally stronger, he could stand a higher chance of fighting.

The Kraken’s essence had coalesced into a staff for him to utilize and manipulate at will, so that added a lot of variety to his arsenal.

As for Karlia, her body was shrouded in pure crimson energy, with black flashes dancing around her form.

Oozing pure destructive energy, she was taking the first step to approach Legris.

~WHOOOOOOOSSSSHHH!!!~

Karlia was right before Legris in no time, her fist tight in his face as she made to completely shatter his face.

However…

“Puack!”

His hand had reached her stomach first, sending a devastatingly painful blow deep into her muscular body.

Pressure radiated through her, and she was sent flying instantly.

However, Lewis swiftly extended his staff and caught her as she flew away. She tightly grabbed onto the staff and twisted it with her own strength, sending Lewis flying towards Legris.

She followed him from behind, thrusting the staff forward so as to improve the speed at which Lewis traveled.

“It’s useless.” Legris whispered as he watched Lewis approach.

He covered his hand in darkness, desiring to eradicate Lewis first.

However….

~FWIIIISSSHHH!!!~

In what seemed like a vanishing act, Lewis appeared behind Legris the moment he was about to touch him.

It almost felt he had passed through him.

“I may not be able to use conventional Magic, but I can at least alter my form!”

That meant he could turn intangible.

~WHOOOOSSSHHH!!!~

Another Lewis rushed to Legris from in front, causing Legris to flick his finger, sending a small portion of darkness flying and instantly penetrating the skull of his opponent.

The duplicate died quickly, but it proved Lewis’ point.

He could also duplicate himself.

Still, that was all pointless to Legris.

Lewis swung his staff from behind to hit Legris, but Legris altered his body’s structure to match the former.

He then grabbed the staff and filled it with the ‘End’ properties that overflowed through him.

The result was an instant end.

Lewis had to quickly let go of his staff—the very essence of his Familiar—else he too would be corrupted.

It was a difficult choice, but he made it too.

“Your staff is gone…” Legris smiled, swiftly vanishing from his position.

He appeared right in front of Lewis, a wicked smile on his face.

“You’re next.”
