Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 2089: Omnipotent Trait

  • Next Chapter

Discovering an overlord’s eye in a collection room he had barely paid attention to in years was something Sein had never expected.

As he stared at the eyeball before him, he searched through his memories for quite some time before finally recalling that Tourmaline did leave him a gift.

It must have been around the time the war on Planet Aquaria ended.

Back then, Tourmaline’s father had travelled to Aquaria to visit Tourmaline, White Stella, and the others.

It was also around that time that White Stella advanced to Rank Six.

“I never expected Tourmaline to have left me such a grand gift so long ago.”

Sein gazed at the eyeball before him and gradually fell into thought.

“This overlord’s eye...”

Tourmaline should still be travelling with the Myriad Springs Worlds Legion at the moment.

White Stella had previously mentioned that Tourmaline would be returning soon, and that she would notify her that he had returned to Magus World.

Even so, Sein had no idea how much longer it would be before he saw Tourmaline again.

Thinking back to the time the two of them had been stranded together in the space-time corridor, as well as the many experiences they had shared around the Myriad Springs Worlds, a smile gradually appeared on Sein’s face.

“Take this eye to Lab Two,” Sein instructed Azelia. “Also, get Leena, Yuri, and HALL-E there. I plan to conduct some in-depth research for a while.”

“Right away,” the fox maiden replied obediently.

Whenever Sein began a period of in-depth research, it usually meant he did not want to be disturbed.

Anything unrelated to his experiments would generally be postponed or cancelled whenever possible.

The overlord’s eye before him was simply too alluring.

After discovering it, Sein had completely lost interest in continuing to sort through and catalog the rest of his collection.

He entrusted the remaining work to Azelia and prepared to head straight for Lab Two at the top of the Divine Tower of Ashes.

Before leaving, however, Sein suddenly stopped. The unexpected discovery of this hidden treasure had clearly made him reconsider just how many valuable things might still be buried somewhere in his collection.

He turned his head toward Azelia. “If you find any other materials I might have overlooked in the past, make sure to set them aside. If they were given to me by Tourmaline, Lorianne, or Grandmaster Feylis, mark them clearly and let me know.”

Azelia nodded firmly.

“Understood, Master.”

Not long after Sein began researching the overlord’s eye, he received a message from Sev.

The successful emergence of two new Rank Four beings from House Grantt was undoubtedly great news.

More importantly, both Julius and the Reverse Winged Lion King could, to a certain extent, be considered directly connected to Sein.

Drawn away from his experiments by the news, Sein deliberately set aside some time to brew a batch of potions for the two of them.

At the same time, he prepared a set of training recommendations for Julius and the Reverse Winged Lion King following their advancement to Rank Four.

Reina and Sia could remain by Sein’s side for long periods of time and participate in his various body tempering experiments.

Julius, however, clearly could not do the same.

His attention would remain centred on House Grantt, and Sein simply did not have enough time or energy to personally guide every law-wielding knight through body tempering.

Sein did not return to House Grantt in person to offer his congratulations.

After all, the moment he returned, he would inevitably be dragged into the usual family banquets and formalities, none of which interested him in the slightest.

Having Yuri pilot the Burning Flame Unit and deliver everything Sein had specially prepared for Julius and the Reverse Winged Lion King was more than enough.

In addition, Sein sent a considerable quantity of mid and low-grade potions for the ordinary knights of House Grantt.

In a way, it was his contribution to the entire family’s celebration of Julius and the Reverse Winged Lion King’s successful advancement.

“Regarding the establishment of a knightly order, tell my great-grandfather that once his breakthrough has stabilized, he can come find me at the Divine Tower of Ashes. As for the Reverse Winged Lion King, I can introduce it to some of the other Rank Four and above magic beast kings in the surrounding regions later,” Sein instructed before Yuri departed.

“All right. I’ll pass on your message, Master,” Yuri replied with a nod from inside the cockpit.

Sein watched as the Burning Flame Unit rose into the air and gradually disappeared into the night beyond the Divine Tower of Ashes.

The cycle of day and night in Magus World passed rather quickly.

While Sein was away from Lab Two brewing potions for Julius and the others, “Leena” reached out and picked up the overlord’s eye.

Holding the eerily lifelike eyeball between her fingers, she quietly examined it.

“Don’t stay silent. I know what you’re thinking,” Mikaeli said. “We share the same thought, and you’ve inherited my knowledge and memories.”

After a brief silence, Leena replied, “What do you want to do?”

“With the Omnipotent Soul contained within this eyeball, we could indeed separate the two of us, and even do so without damaging either of our souls. The very fact that it possesses the ‘Omnipotent’ trait means it can turn many impossibilities in the Astral Realm into possibilities.”

Mikaeli let out a cold laugh, then continued, “But don’t forget. Sein still has a wife whose soul remains in slumber.”

“Are you saying this overlord’s eye could help Natalya awaken?” Leena asked in surprise.

“Of course! And it could do far more than just that,” Mikaeli said, a hint of amazement and excitement entering her voice.

“Given Sein’s current state, if he were to directly absorb and utilize the Omnipotent Soul energy within this eye, he might even be able to advance to Rank Six right away!”

Even Mikaeli, who had lived for tens of thousands of years, had only ever heard of the Omnipotent Soul. She had never actually encountered it before.

Although Sein had long since surpassed Mikaeli in terms of personal strength, there were still certain areas where her knowledge and experience exceeded his.

She had also played a major role in helping Julius and the Reverse Winged Lion King successfully advance to Rank Four.

After a moment of silence, Leena said, “Sein won’t use it to advance to Rank Six. He’s already finding his own path to truth. There’s no need for him to take a shortcut.”

Leena glanced down at the overlord’s eye in her hand.

“He’ll probably use the Omnipotent Soul inside this eyeball on Natalya instead.”

In the past, if Mikaeli had come across something as valuable as the Omnipotent Soul, she would have undoubtedly taken the treasure and fled, even if it meant burning every bridge behind her.

Now, however, she showed surprisingly little greed toward the overlord’s eye. In fact, she seemed to agree with Leena.

“I also think it’d be better for him to use this strand of Omnipotent Soul on that female knight. There’s no need for the two of us to separate so soon. Besides, Sein still hasn’t found me a suitable Rank Four body,” Mikaeli said.

“I heard Sia has contacted a powerful necromancer from the Marmett Union Alliance to treat Natalya though. Perhaps he won’t even need to spend this precious overlord soul in the end,” Leena added.

“Then there’s even less reason to waste it so soon. Keeping it as a trump card wouldn’t be a bad idea. Something like this is far more effective than those potions Sein’s mentor concocted,” Mikaeli remarked.

Leena nodded, agreeing with Mikaeli.

A long silence followed.

Then Mikaeli suddenly spoke again.

“It’s been quite a while since I last brought that matter up. Isn’t it about time you let me take control of the body for a while?”

“Even when I’m the one controlling it, you can still feel everything I do, can’t you?” Leena asked.

“That’s not the same. I still prefer the feeling of being in control. Come on, don’t be so stingy. I put a lot of effort into helping that knight from House Grantt advance to Rank Four,” Mikaeli immediately began bargaining with her apprentice.

“Fine. I’ll let you have control for a while,” Leena finally agreed. Most of the time, Leena was actually quite easy to get along with.

The moment she agreed, a wave of pleasure and relaxation washed over Mikaeli’s soul and mind.

Meanwhile, HALL-E and Fermera, who had been assisting Sein with several experiments in Lab Two, looked curiously at Leena.

As intelligent robots, neither of them could quite understand her strange behavior.
