Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1952: A Fierce Battle

  • Next Chapter

The war in Reebos World was progressing smoothly.

The only real incident during this period was an attempted ambush by Reebos, the God of Night, who tried to assassinate Sein from the shadows.

Unfortunately for him, Fermera and Belphane joined forces and quickly subdued him.

Facing two Rank Six combatants, with a group of eager Rank Four and Rank Five powerhouses by their side, Reebos stood little chance.

As an intermediate deity who specialized in ambushes and stealth rather than direct combat, he did not last long before meeting a grim end.

The fall of his divine nation signaled the collapse of Reebos’ faith system.

With his death, the process of eroding and taking control of Reebos World became much smoother for Sein and his companions.

Trying to ambush Sein, who possessed the Faceless Mask, was beyond the ability of most Rank Six beings, let alone Reebos, a peak Rank Five deity.

Moreover, during the battle, Sein showed none of the dignity expected of a noble Rank Five Magus World mage.

They had pretty much ganged up on the foreign deity.

With a single gesture from Sein, Fermera and Belphane stepped forward, followed by the Dawn Empire’s powerhouses, the God of Black Mist, and the others.

Not only did Reebos fall swiftly, but even the three lesser gods under his command also failed to escape from this world.

The Gallant Federation had truly left Reebos and his group in a terrible predicament.

Had the federation legions not withdrawn so decisively, the war in Reebos World might have lasted longer.

Who knew? With divine abilities tied to night and stealth, Reebos might even have found an opportunity to escape.

In the end, the entire war in Reebos World lasted less than three years.

The battle between the law-wielding combatants lasted only about half a year. Most of the remaining time went into having the lower-tier legions occupy the entire plane.

After the Reebos World War ended, Sein and his companions rushed to Green God World without delay.

Conquering that world was far more difficult than taking Reebos World.

The native plant deities of this world had clearly chosen to defend it to the bitter end.

Furthermore, the federal legions that had previously withdrawn from Reebos World had also arrived at Green God Plane, joining forces with the garrison legions already stationed there.

Faced with such a tough nut to crack, Sein once again turned to his increasingly refined combat style, partially fusing with Fermera.

Relying on his forbidden spells, the Magic Cube, and Fermera’s Rank Six strength, he forcibly blasted open the planar barrier of this dendro-attribute plane.

During interplanar wars, the actions of one’s enemies could sometimes provoke profound reflection.

Green God Plane clearly had no Rank Six beings guarding it.

However, the plant creatures of this low-level plane could not leave their homeplane, and the Gallant Federation legions, bound by strict military orders, could not continue retreating either!

Because of that, they had no choice but to rely on this homeplane, with its exceptionally sturdy law barrier, and fight Sein and his forces to the bitter end.

Just breaking through Green God Plane’s outer barrier and various defensive lines took Sein and his forces nearly two years.

That was even longer than the time it took to kill Reebos, the God of Night!

As for the grueling battles that followed within the plane, they lasted a full eleven years.

To be honest, Sein had not expected this low-level plane to be so difficult to conquer at first.

When the Gallant Federation’s garrison fleet launched a coordinated suicide attack against Sein and his companions as they descended from the sky, Sein could not help but feel a deep sense of respect for these federal legions after seeing the situation from the enemy’s perspective.

When Sein ordered his forces to destroy the roots of the few Rank Four and Rank Five plant deities within Green God Plane, the remnants of the federal garrison continued to cause trouble for them.

They even converted vast underground spaces within the plane into sturdy metal fortifications, stubbornly holding their ground to the very end.

Sein could not help but admire his opponents’ tenacity.

In war, there was no right or wrong. There was only victory and defeat.

From the perspective of the Magus Civilization, Sein was naturally on the side of justice.

So while he might admire their resilience, he would show them no mercy once it was time to act.

Finally, after eleven long years of war, the entire Green God Plane had been thoroughly ravaged by Sein and his forces.

The land was scarred and devastated, littered everywhere with shattered plant roots and debris.

Eight or nine out of every ten native creatures in this world had perished because of the war.

Toward the end of the conflict, in order to accelerate the conquest, Sein even constructed a massive magic array to artificially awaken a cluster of dormant volcanoes in the northeastern region, forcing them into an active phase ahead of time.

Vast swathes of volcanoes erupted. The dust and smoke that shot into the sky swallowed the land below. Forbidden-level area-of-effect spells directly obscured the skies of this world.

The entire Green God Plane then endured a “Dark Age” that lasted three full years.

During this period, countless plant creatures perished.

Due to the impact of the forbidden spell and the cataclysmic upheaval of the plane itself, the changes to Green God Plane would continue for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years.

Even after tens of thousands of years, the scars Sein left on this plane might never fully fade...

That was the reality of war.

Although the battle had been grueling, Green God World was indeed the plane where Sein and his companions gained the most.

From powerhouses like Sein and the Rank Four and Rank Five combatants, all the way down to the lowly foot soldiers, everyone received a substantial haul of energy crystals and rare materials such as plant cores.

The warriors of the Dawn Empire followed a path of passive evolution, somewhat similar to Magus World knights.

Plant cores, which were rich in life energy, were also widely traded among the soldiers of the Dawn Empire.

In recent years, the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce had established stable logistics and supply routes around the Divine Descendants Star Domain.

This interstellar chamber of commerce was especially enthusiastic about recovering resources like these.

During wartime, materials with direct restorative effects and the ability to nourish life essence were far more in demand than ordinary energy crystals or rare metals!

After the war in Green God World concluded, Sein and his companions were granted a brief period of rest and recuperation.

In truth, Sein and his group did not need much rest. It was mainly the lower-tier legions that required time to recover.

Some wounded soldiers had to be sent back for treatment, while the enslaved creatures and cannon fodder needed to be replenished.

After the war ended, Sein reflected on the battle and concluded that the interplanar war had fallen into a stalemate mainly because Fermera and Belphane, the two Rank Six combatants, had failed to exert their overwhelming dominance from the very beginning.

At the time, Fermera and Belphane had been unable to force their way in immediately due to the restrictions of the planar barrier...

The Astral Realm was a place of balance. Green God Plane instinctively resisted the intrusion of powerful entities like Fermera and Belphane.

Not to mention, this was a dendro plane with exceptionally sturdy law barrier.

The first to charge through the barrage and force his way in had been Ximen Feixiao, clad in heavy armor and wielding a divine artifact-grade shield that Sein had quickly forged for him.

It was precisely because of this achievement that Ximen Feixiao was awarded the most precious Rank Five plant-type divine relic on this low-level plane battlefield—the Heart of the Green God.

Sein’s gains were substantial as well. He ultimately acquired two divine relics from Rank Four plant creatures.

In addition, the main wreckage of the Gallant Federation’s war fleets stationed on this plane became Sein’s property after their highly valuable central cores were removed. This included the empty hulls, engines of immense research value, and other technological artifacts.

Sein planned to gift the two plant-type divine relics to his mentor.

As for the remains of the federal fleet, he had the Magic Cube absorb the faint laws contained within them in the end.

The cube was less picky about its “food” now.

Previously, it had only consumed fragments of world-class secret treasures. Now, it could even chew through the wreckage of ordinary Rank Four and Rank Five fleets.

Moreover, the Magic Cube was no longer just absorbing the technological law factors contained within the wreckage. It had also begun to assimilate and make use of the metallic materials from the hulls themselves.
