Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 1928: Absorbing Death Energy

  • Next Chapter

This was an unfair battle—three against seven.

Before the fighting began, the Tenth Pharaoh had protested the arrangement.

She stood on one side, accompanied by her two overlord-class monster kings.

On the other side was the Dragon Clan’s massive army, led by Chaofeng, Baxia, Suanni, Bi’an, Fuxi, Torch Dragon, and the Flood Dragon King.

It had taken the Dragon Clan quite a bit of effort to corner the cunning Tenth Pharaoh.

They were actually quite far from the Mordora Star Domain.

In fact, it was already close to the edge of the Magus Civilization’s sphere of influence, reaching the frontier star domains beyond the civilizational battlefield.

The main forces of the Dragon Clan’s army, especially the countless ordinary legions, remained stationed around the Mordora Star Domain on standby.

The ones who had actually caught up to the Tenth Pharaoh were mainly these few overlord-level dragonkin.

Within this sealed space, Chaofeng stood majestically at its highest point.

In terms of strength, Chaofeng, who had only recently advanced to Rank Eight, was no match for the Tenth Pharaoh.

After all, he had never been a combat-oriented dragonkin to begin with.

Although he had mastered strange and rare spatial laws, there were very few occasions when he actually needed to fight.

Compared to fighting, Chaofeng was far more interested in making money and doing business.

The Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce remained his true profession.

Moreover, Chaofeng’s advancement to Rank Eight was very different from that of a peak Rank Seven dragonkin like Baxia, who had spent years suppressing the navel of Magus World while tempering both his lawful body and strength.

When Chaofeng broke through to Rank Eight back then, he had relied on quite a few “shortcuts”.

As the helmsman of the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce, his business operations had already spread throughout the surrounding star domains.

Chaofeng’s influence reached into multiple top-tier civilizations, not to mention countless large and medium-sized world civilizations.

Under such circumstances, one could easily imagine the sheer amount of rare resources he was capable of gathering!

Even rare law artifacts that provided immense benefits to overlord-level beings were things Chaofeng had ways to obtain.

Without the Arriba Chamber of Commerce as his financial backing, and given how inconsistent his cultivation was due to his constant business trips between star domains, Chaofeng’s progress would likely have fallen behind that of his younger brothers.

While Chaofeng’s strength was not especially outstanding among Rank Eight Overlords, he had one thing going for him—

He had those younger brothers to rely on!

Moreover, as a Rank Eight overlord, he was still a being who had condensed the Eternal Soul. On top of that, he was an extremely rare user of spatial laws.

Now that he had trapped the Tenth Pharaoh here, even with her profound cultivation, it would be difficult for her to break free anytime soon.

“Aren’t you guys taking this a little too far? I mean... seven dragons bullying one helpless woman?” the Tenth Pharaoh said, glancing at Chaofeng at the very top of the sealed space before turning her gaze to the other overlords before her.

Although they shared blood ties, these Immortal Realm dragonkin barely resembled one another at all!

Each of them had a fierce and terrifying appearance, with vastly different forms and sizes.

Perhaps the only thing they had in common was their overwhelming draconic aura.

Not only did these overlords look nothing alike, but even Baxia, his daughter White Stella, and his son Black Oblivion did not seem to share much resemblance either...

Perhaps this was simply a defining trait of the Immortal Realm’s Dragon Clan.

Compared to the native dragon species of the Magus Civilization and the Abyssal Dragon species, their genetic inheritance clearly worked very differently.

“Enough talk! Release our children at once!” Suanni roared, spewing out a sea of crimson dragon flames.

His son, Hanliu, was currently in the Tenth Pharaoh’s grasp.

Although Hanliu was not Suanni’s only child, the fact that his own offspring had fallen into the Tenth Pharaoh’s hands was enough to set him off.

With his fiery temper, even if he was no match for the Tenth Pharaoh, he would still charge in and tear a chunk of flesh from her without a second thought.

Dragonkin were generally rather lustful. There was even a saying in the Astral Realm that “dragons are inherently lecherous”. Otherwise, how could there be so many sub-dragon species?

By dragon standards, the Tenth Pharaoh was indeed a stunning beauty.

Yet not a single dragon present looked at her with the slightest friendliness.

They all wanted nothing more than to devour her flesh, gnaw on her bones, and drink her blood!

“Oh my, I’m so scared,” the Tenth Pharaoh giggled as four translucent crystal balls appeared in her pale gray palm.

Inside those four crystal balls were none other than White Stella, Black Oblivion, Hanliu, and Qixiu!

The Tenth Pharaoh was quite the character. In the past, whenever she obtained spoils that caught her interest, she would usually extract their souls and toy with them.

But this time, after capturing White Stella and the others alive, she did not do anything of the sort.

The main reason was that Baxia had been pursuing her far too relentlessly. Whenever she thought about doing anything to them, an uneasy feeling would rise in her heart.

So, the Tenth Pharaoh decided to play it safe and held off on harming White Stella and the others.

She merely sealed them separately inside four crystal balls, treating them as toys for the time being.

Sure enough, her uneasy feeling had not been unfounded.

It had not even been that long since she captured those four, yet so many dragonkins had already come knocking on her door at once!

In a one-on-one fight, the Tenth Pharaoh was confident she could hold her own against any one of the seven overlord-level dragonkin before her.

But clearly, they had come to gang up on her.

At that moment, the Tenth Pharaoh was still in her humanoid form, while the seven overlord-level dragonkin before her had all unleashed their mighty law bodies and true forms.

Amidst this horde of colossal beasts stood a lone young woman.

The sight made the Tenth Pharaoh seem both pitiful and helpless.

Even the two overlord-level monster kings behind her seemed somewhat intimidated under the pressure of this siege.

The dominance dragonkin exerted over beings of other bloodlines came from deep within their very bloodline.

“Seriously, I only came to the Magus Civilization battlefield to gather some death energy. Was there really a need to make such a big fuss over me?” The Tenth Pharaoh grumbled.

“I can always return these four little ones to you,” she added, spinning the four crystal balls in her palm.

The eyes of the surrounding overlord-level dragonkin followed the movement of her palm.

The Tenth Pharaoh was not lying.

She had volunteered to go to the Magus Civilization battlefield not only because she was curious about the Magus Civilization, but more importantly because, on a battlefield where all-out war was raging, she could absorb even more death energy—the very source of power she needed for her advancement.

No matter how fierce the war between the Amenkha Empire and the Luminara Civilization became, as long as the First Pharaoh remained in seclusion, it could not truly be considered a full-scale war.

Only this conflict involving the Magus Civilization could be called a true civilizational war.

The Second Pharaoh of the Amenkha Empire, Sathograel Mokorn, had once remarked that there was something unusual about the Tenth Pharaoh’s advancement to Rank Eight.

In her early years, the Tenth Pharaoh had certainly been talented within the Amenkha Empire, but not to an absurd degree.

It was only after she suddenly advanced to Rank Seven that she gradually drew the attention of the Pharaohs’ Temple.

After reaching Rank Seven, the Tenth Pharaoh’s growth did not slow down at all. Instead, she showed everyone what a real genius really looked like.

In just a hundred thousand years, she leaped from the early stage of Rank Seven all the way to Rank Eight.

It was more than astonishing—it was practically unbelievable!

As the Tenth Pharaoh continued to grow stronger, the other Pharaohs gradually began to see through her true nature.

She was actually capable of absorbing death energy!

Just like Destruction Spring of the Myriad Springs World, which sought to reach higher realms by absorbing the power of destruction, this Pharaoh of the Amenkha Empire had set her sights on the death energy scattered across the Magus Civilization battlefield.

No wonder she had not ventured deep into the frontlines in recent years, content instead to wage guerrilla warfare around the edges of the civilizational battlefield.

Had she not ambushed White Stella and the others, provoking the Immortal Realm’s Dragon Clan into seeking revenge, her true abilities and background likely would not have been exposed so easily.

The Second Pharaoh had once said that Tenth’s method of cultivating law power was not unique to the Amenkha Empire.

Everyone believed she could pioneer new ways to use the Sealing Robe because the power of sealing itself was part of the Amenkha Empire’s power system. Even if Tenth’s talent was outstanding, it was not so outrageous as to defy common sense.

But what exactly was this path of transformation and growth through the absorption of death energy?

Back then, when faced with relentless questioning from the other viziers of the Pharaohs’ Temple, the Tenth Pharaoh gave no answer.

Standing in the starry sky, the Tenth Pharaoh’s small feet were as pale and flawless.

A faint gray ripple began spreading out from them, radiating in every direction through the surrounding space of laws.

These were Ripples of Death!

As Chaofeng manifested his own domain of spatial laws, the Tenth Pharaoh also unleashed her own domain of death laws to protect herself.
