Soul Emperor Awakening
Chapter 581: Repairing the Divine Artifact
The Lin Family’s Bloodline Power surged forth, making them feel as if Lin Chenyun himself stood before them. They had all met Lin Chenyun and been humbled by his imposing aura.
Now, to feel that same aura from Lin Xuan, whose Cultivation was not particularly strong, was truly shocking.
Just as Lin Xuan had said, this was the proof they wanted.
After a long moment, Bu Lingyu sighed and said, “The resemblance is uncanny… truly uncanny… I believe you! No, I don’t believe *you*—I believe Patriarch Lin. I believe that since you inherited Patriarch Lin’s bloodline, you will certainly keep your promise.”
‘Making them believe with just a small release of my aura was quite a bargain.’
“Thank you for your trust, Patriarch Bu. This junior will certainly keep his promise!” Lin Xuan said with a smile. “I also ask for your understanding. The Lin Family’s current situation is not good, so I cannot appear in my true form. Please forgive me.”
“That is understandable. But for you to reveal your identity so brazenly, aren’t you afraid we might harm you?” Bu Lingyu chuckled.
“If you intended to harm me, you wouldn’t have wasted so many words,” Lin Xuan replied with a smile.
“Bold!” Bu Lingyu smiled, his gaze then turning sharp as he stared at Lin Xuan. “So, what is your plan? The Lin Family must have some kind of plan, right? Surely you don’t intend to just let things be?”
The Bu Family had shown their sincerity; now it was the Lin Family’s turn to show some as well. This wasn’t about treasures. If it were, the Bu Family was in a better state than the Lin Family, as they had, at least, never been conquered.
Therefore, what they needed wasn’t treasure. It was a plan!
“As for a plan, I’m afraid I must apologize. For now, there is no plan to speak of.” Lin Xuan’s words immediately displeased the onlookers. ‘No plan at all? Is the Lin Family really just going to fade into oblivion?’
Just as their dissatisfaction began to brew, Lin Xuan added, “That may be the case, but we will not simply sit back and await our doom. Give us some time, and the Lin Family will reappear in the world!”
‘I just need to wake my father, and the Lin Family will return. Although our power won’t match the Yan Family, at least we won’t have to be so timid.’
“How long will that take?” Bu Lingyu asked.
“I’m not entirely sure. Maybe a year, maybe two, or perhaps even longer… But that doesn’t matter. From your perspective, as long as we can mobilize and come to your aid when the enemy attacks, isn’t that sincere enough?” Lin Xuan said with a smile.
The Lin Family’s strength had been greatly diminished, but they still had many experts. They could still provide significant help if the Bu Family was attacked.
But who would believe mere words?
“Very well. We can make a contract now, so neither party can back out!” Bu Lingyu gestured to his son. “Qianfan, you will be the one to make the contract with him!”
Bu Qianfan stepped forward and looked at Lin Xuan. “Brother Lin, shall we form a contract now?”
“No problem,” Lin Xuan agreed readily.
After making their preparations, they swore their oath.
“If the Lin Family is in peril, the Bu Family will certainly come to its aid! Should this oath be broken, may Heaven and Earth strike us down!”
“If the Bu Family is in peril, the Lin Family will certainly come to its aid! Should this oath be broken, may Heaven and Earth strike us down!”
After they swore the oath, two balls of light emerged from their bodies and successfully merged into one, proving the oath was successful. From now on, if one party was in trouble and the other refused to help, the oath-breaker would face certain death.
For example, if the Bu Family broke the oath, Bu Qianfan would die. Conversely, if the Lin Family broke it, Lin Xuan would die.
No one knew who judged these oaths, but they were genuinely effective. They had to be founded upon some fundamental Law to work.
This was a true contract, a true alliance—not one of those alliances in name only, where one party would stab the other in the back.
“The contract has been successfully made. I trust you’re all willing to believe me now?” Lin Xuan said with a faint smile.
“Of course. But what are your plans now, Brother Lin? If you don’t have any, you can stay and cultivate with the Bu Family. Or, in a little while, we’ll be heading somewhere and can take you along,” Bu Qianfan said.
“That won’t be necessary for now. I do have a request, however, and that is to repair this Divine Artifact of mine. You provide the materials, and I’ll handle the repairs myself. Of course, I won’t take your materials for free. This Sixth Grade Elixir will cover the cost.”
Lin Xuan had come to the Bu Family with a few goals in mind. Forming an alliance was one; the other was to completely repair this Divine Artifact.
“Providing the materials is no problem; this Sixth Grade Elixir is more than enough to cover the cost. But the repairs are quite difficult. Infusing the soul, in particular, is hard to get right and fails easily. Are you sure you want to do this?” Bu Qianfan advised.
They were aware of Lin Xuan’s Artifact Refining skill level, but was it really a good idea for him to jump straight into repairing a Divine Artifact? The difficulty of infusing a soul was the main point of concern.
“I’m sure. I don’t need to infuse any soul into it. I just need to repair this Chi Dragon Heavens Rod. Also, I’ll need to borrow your best Tripod Furnace. I hope you’ll agree!” Lin Xuan said.
The crowd exchanged glances. Since he had provided payment, they were willing to give him the materials. Had he not offered compensation, they really would have been unwilling. The materials for repairs were not cheap, and even as allies, they couldn’t just give them away for free. They didn’t have much to spare themselves.
“Since Brother Lin has put it that way, then it’s no problem. When do you need to repair this Divine Artifact?” Bu Qianfan agreed without much thought. ‘After all, if he fails, the loss will be Lin Xuan’s, not ours.’
“Right now!” Lin Xuan didn’t want to waste any time; he wanted to repair his Weapon now.
“Then no problem. Follow me.” Bu Chi shook his head. He knew this Weapon was significant, but repairing it wouldn’t increase its power by much, especially without a soul. ‘What’s the point of a repair like that?’
Lin Xuan then followed Bu Chi toward the Fourth Celestial Peak. Bu Qianfan came along as well, as he was still curious to see Lin Xuan’s Artifact Refining skills. The others didn’t join, feeling there was nothing interesting to see.
Simply put, it wasn’t that they hadn’t seen a Divine Artifact being repaired before; it was just that there were no highlights to expect. Going to watch would be a waste of time.
After arriving at the Fourth Celestial Peak, Bu Chi immediately gathered the materials Lin Xuan requested. Once everything was ready, Bu Chi thought for a moment before saying, “Regarding the repair of this Divine Artifact, I could actually do it for you. This Chi Dragon Heavens Rod is a bit difficult, but I can still manage to repair it. If you fail, you’ll have wasted all these materials.”
“No, thank you. This junior wishes to repair this Weapon himself… For no other reason than wanting to do it personally.”
Lin Xuan looked down at the Chi Dragon Heavens Rod in his hand. This Weapon had been with him for a long time; it was time it was repaired. He didn’t let Bu Chi help, not only because he wanted to do it himself, but also because he believed Bu Chi’s repairs wouldn’t be good enough. Most importantly, the repairs he had in mind were not so simple.
