Chapter 575 - 573: Going Head-to-Head

Alchemy was just one of his abilities, and so were inscriptions. When the two were combined, the effects were tremendous.

Inscriptions couldn’t just be carved on Weapons; they could also be carved on Elixir Pills. Lin Xuan had never stopped his research in this area. It was just that Divine Artifacts already had their own inscriptions, so he didn’t add more unless he erased the original ones.

Now, he could carve them onto Elixir Pills. Inscriptions of different Levels could amplify different effects. There were even inscriptions specifically for enhancing Elixir Pills. Just carving one on a pill could potentially double its effects—that was the terrifying power of inscriptions.

However, the better the Elixir Pill, the more terrifyingly difficult it was to carve an inscription, and the Soul Power consumed would increase exponentially.

"The competition officially begins!"

At Long Xingyun’s command, a stick of incense was inserted into a sand tray, marking the official start of the competition. Over the next five days, they would see who could truly turn the tables.

Contestants were allowed to rest and take Elixir Pills during the process. Aside from not disturbing those around them, the rules were quite lenient. Even if someone lay down to sleep, Long Xingyun wouldn’t say a word.

After all, if they lost, it had nothing to do with him, so he wouldn’t bother interfering.

After the competition began, Long Bin and Long Fan both rushed forward. From a pile of medicinal ingredients prepared beforehand, they began selecting the ones they wanted.

Lin Xuan followed close behind, also choosing his desired ingredients. Five days seemed like a long time, but for refining High Grade Elixir Pills, it wasn’t much at all.

FWOOSH!

Long Bin unleashed his uniquely colored Flame. With a roar, it enveloped the Alchemy Furnace. The Flame was so fierce it looked as if it were out of control.

It looked out of control, but a closer look revealed that the surging Flame wasn’t actually wild. Instead, it was heating the Alchemy Furnace with remarkable balance.

He tossed handful after handful of medicinal ingredients into the Alchemy Furnace. The quantity was quite large, and his actions seemed almost careless, but this was the Alchemy Technique of Medicine King Valley—the Creation Technique!

After tossing in a large number of ingredients, a current of Life Energy surged from his body and flowed into the Alchemy Furnace, fusing with the ingredients inside. His movements looked casual, yet there were no signs of failure. On the contrary, the ingredients inside the furnace were rapidly refined into their essence and quickly began to condense into pills!

Despite the large number of ingredients, the refining speed wasn’t slow. Especially when enveloped by this Life Energy, the ingredients were not easily ruined. Under these conditions, the refining speed was greatly increased, and the speed of condensation was even more astounding.

Although it was slower than Lin Xuan’s condensation using the Yulan Sacred Fire, this method was very stable and guaranteed to be problem-free.

It wasn’t just Long Bin; Long Fan was the same. Their speed at refining Elixir Pills was very fast, definitely at a first-class level. To be precise, none of the disciples from Medicine King Valley were slow at alchemy, and it was all thanks to the Creation Technique.

The previous rounds had restrictions, but now, without those limits, they could both unleash their full abilities to refine Elixir Pills. In fact, thinking back, their alchemy speed had never been slow. It was just that Lin Xuan’s Elixir Pills were more effective. If they were compared on refining speed alone, Lin Xuan was actually slower.

This was Medicine King Valley’s Alchemy Divine Technique—the Creation Technique!

When refining Elixir Pills, no matter how strong the Flame, this Divine Technique could draw upon the surrounding Life Energy and gather it into the Alchemy Furnace. In terms of both alchemy speed and stability, it was far superior to ordinary Alchemy Techniques.

No wonder Medicine King Valley was so proud of this Alchemy Technique. They really had the capital to back it up.

But was Lin Xuan slow? Of course not. His speed was also incredibly fast. With the Phoenix Fire burning wildly, his almost freakish Fire Control Ability kept the refining speed firmly in check.

Gazing intently at the Elixir Pills beginning to condense in his Alchemy Furnace, Lin Xuan’s expression was serene, completely unshaken by the situation around him.

"Fifth Grade Elixirs! They’re all refining Fifth Grade Elixirs!"

"Yeah, you can tell from the ingredients they grabbed. They’re all making Fifth Grade Elixirs. It looks like Long Bin and Long Fan both have the skills of a Fifth Grade Alchemist."

"After all this time, it’s normal for them to have made this much progress. But Lin Xuan is also refining a Fifth Grade Elixir, and what’s more, it’s the same kind of pill..."

...

The crowd gulped. This was the final round. Whether there would be a comeback all depended on this. It wasn’t just the final round; the crucial point was that they were all refining the exact same Elixir Pill.

If Long Bin and his partner couldn’t outpace Lin Xuan, they were doomed to lose. They only needed to refine two more Fifth Grade Elixirs than him to secure a complete victory!

That’s right. Just two more Fifth Grade Elixirs were enough to surpass Lin Xuan.

But now, not only were their ingredients nearly identical, but the type of pill was also the same. It seemed this was a true battle of quality! With the same Elixir Pill, whoever refined a higher quality version would receive a different score.

The real difference would come down to that small score gap. How thrilling!

Long Bin frowned. ’I can’t believe he’s refining the Cloud Dew Pill too. Five at once? An Alchemy Technique from the outside world dares to attempt this?’

Judging by the amount of ingredients, they could refine five Fifth Grade Elixirs, which was already quite risky. Who would have thought that Lin Xuan would do the same, refining five Elixir Pills in one go!

If their speeds were the same, they would have no advantage whatsoever.

Long Bin gritted his teeth. ’I’ll go all out!’ Without hesitation, he tossed in another handful of ingredients, instantly increasing the quantity. This was an incredibly risky move.

Fifth Grade Elixirs were already difficult to refine. He increased the quantity in one go for the sole purpose of surpassing Lin Xuan. At their current pace, victory was impossible unless Lin Xuan made a mistake.

But having witnessed Lin Xuan’s almost freakish Fire Control Ability, they didn’t believe he would fail so easily.

Just as he gritted his teeth and added more ingredients, Lin Xuan also added more ingredients—the exact same amount as Long Bin, with no difference whatsoever! The quantity was identical, not a bit more, and not a bit less.

"You!" Long Bin froze, his face immediately flushing with anger. This was a clear provocation.

However much they put in, Lin Xuan would put in the same. He was accepting their challenge without reservation!

This was exactly Lin Xuan’s intention. ’They think their Alchemy Technique is so powerful? Fine, I’ll use the exact same ingredients to refine the pills! However much they add, I’ll add. If they’ve got the guts to add more, then I’ll add more too.’

This way, they could have a direct comparison, and no one could claim he lacked ability in the end. If he was going to do it, he would do it best, dominating all the way to the finish.
