Chapter 540 - 538: More Than Half Absorbed

Lin Xuan’s situation left everyone dumbfounded. To be precise, they had no idea what he was doing. For the first five days, his absorption had been very stable. A slow and steady approach was far better than a frenzied one. Unless Lin Xuan’s Cultivation was extremely high, this was an utterly reckless move.

"What’s going on? Why has he started absorbing so frantically? Does he really think he can handle that much?" Bu Chi frowned. He didn’t think Lin Xuan should be losing control; with the ability he’d shown, it seemed impossible.

’But then how could this be explained?’ He had started absorbing frantically at a speed that far surpassed his previous rate. It looked like he was going to absorb so much he would burst.

Bu Qianfan also frowned, completely in the dark as well. He had no idea what was going on. Everything had been fine before, but now it had all changed in an instant. His absorption rate had become terrifying.

"Heh heh, his true colors are showing, aren’t they? He’s completely lost control! He can’t handle it anymore. Did he think the Elemental Power of the Spiritual Source Pool would be so easy to control?"

"He’s done for this time. Forget ten days, he’ll be lucky to survive today!"

"Elemental Power Wings? He must have used some kind of Elixir Pill to pull that off. Now that he’s lost control, what other explanation could there be?"

...

The Bu Family members discussed this in low voices, their eyes filled with scorn at Lin Xuan’s apparent loss of control. They just couldn’t stand seeing Lin Xuan get ahead of them. As disciples who had always believed in excluding outsiders, they were undoubtedly feeling quite smug.

Why should their family’s resources be given to a Foreign Disciple? If it weren’t given away, they would have had another share for themselves—especially a spot like this.

In reality, they were full of themselves. Even if Lin Xuan hadn’t been there, they would never have qualified to enter the Spiritual Source Pool. They had made no significant contributions, and their talent was hardly first-rate, so of course they wouldn’t get in. Opportunity never knocks for those who are all talk and no action.

If not for Lin Xuan’s high-profile display of performing Artifact Refining with his bare hands, he never would have gotten this chance. Even if they had known his true identity as the Lin Family’s Young Master, they still wouldn’t have let him in. The reason was simple: if he lacked the ability, letting him enter would have been a waste of resources.

So what if he was a Young Master? Useless young masters existed, after all.

The surrounding chatter didn’t reach Lin Xuan’s ears in the slightest. He remained completely immersed in his frenzied absorption, entirely unaffected by what was happening outside.

Had he lost control? Of course not. With the Martial God’s Soul Possession, it was impossible for him to lose control unless he willed it.

The reason he began absorbing so frantically was that he had only just finished adapting to the Elemental Power here. Slow absorption was too inefficient, so he decided to cut loose, using his strongest Control Power to funnel the Elemental Power into the Elixir Core Pearl inside his body!

In addition to the Elixir Core Pearl, he could also channel it into the Yulan Pearl and the Soul Pearl! He was absorbing so frantically because he had discovered that both the Yulan Pearl and the Soul Pearl could also absorb this pure Elemental Power, so he began to do so without reservation.

After absorbing the Elemental Power, the Yulan Pearl grew more condensed. The Yulan Sacred Fire within it burned more vigorously, and its frosty aura intensified. As for the Soul Pearl, absorbing the energy didn’t seem to enhance it in any way. It simply absorbed the power and stored it!

That’s right—it was merely stored inside the Soul Pearl. It served no immediate purpose, neither enhancing his soul nor the Soul Pearl itself. It was purely and simply being stored.

He had never done this before, mainly because he’d never had access to so much Elemental Power to absorb. He only discovered the Soul Pearl could take it in after he tried guiding a small amount toward it.

Thus, he held nothing back. His logic was that once the energy was stored, he could withdraw and absorb it from the Soul Pearl whenever he needed to recover. Such pure Elemental Power, combined with the effects of his Spirit Medicine Points, would be far more effective than most Recovery Elixirs.

As he continued his frantic absorption, the crowd watched in horror. Elemental Power was pouring into his body, yet they saw no sign of it swelling. It was as if Lin Xuan were a bottomless pit that could never be filled!

Time flew by. One day, two days, three days... He kept up this frantic absorption for three full days. Everyone had thought he would burst after just one day, but he had now maintained this pace for three straight days!

The Spiritual Source Pool had been full of Elemental Power, but now so much had been absorbed that the level of the entire pool had visibly dropped!

"Is this kid’s body a bottomless pit? How can he absorb so much?" Bu Chi was dumbfounded all over again. It seemed Lin Xuan was full of endless secrets. How could he absorb energy so ferociously?

If someone with a powerful Cultivation were absorbing this much, they wouldn’t have batted an eye. If Bu Chi himself went in, it would be normal for him to absorb the entire Spiritual Source Pool. The problem was that Lin Xuan’s Cultivation wasn’t high; he was only at the Third Layer of Spirit Pill Stage... No, they could feel his Cultivation rapidly rising. He had already broken through to the Fourth Layer of Spirit Pill Stage in one go!

Now, he was frantically pushing toward the Fifth Layer of Spirit Pill Stage. His aura grew stronger and stronger, showing no signs of instability.

"Father, I really can’t figure this Lin Xuan out..." Bu Qianfan said with a wry smile. He had originally thought that if Lin Xuan could last ten days, it would be an incredible feat. It hadn’t been ten days yet, but the amount he’d absorbed already exceeded what a normal person would absorb in several dozen!

In a way, it was as if Lin Xuan had been in here for twenty or thirty days, far surpassing their own records. The key point was that he was completely fine.

"What kind of constitution allows one to absorb so much Elemental Power...?" Bu Lingyu’s eyes glinted. "It must be related to the secrets he carries, and perhaps that Yulan Pearl has something to do with it. But most of it must come down to his Physique. His Physique is truly powerful!"

Lin Xuan’s entire body shimmered with a golden light, and golden Dragon Scales had begun to emerge on his skin. As he frantically absorbed the Elemental Power, his body was strengthened yet again.

His overpowering aura dominated the scene, leaving the Bu Family disciples utterly speechless. Lin Xuan maintained this frantic state for another two days, bringing his total time in the pool to ten days!

By now, the Spiritual Source Pool was half-empty. The sight made the Bu Family disciples’ hearts ache with regret, but Bu Lingyu and Bu Qianfan felt no such pain! For them, the stronger Lin Xuan became, the better. It meant they hadn’t chosen the wrong ally. Only a powerful ally could ensure their own survival!

They considered the contents of the Spiritual Source Pool a welcome gift for him; they wouldn’t mind even if he absorbed it all. However, when word of this got out, it would surely cause a massive uproar. ’I wonder what the Yan Family will think,’ they mused.

Just as everyone thought Lin Xuan would continue absorbing, he suddenly stopped. The vortex of energy centered on him vanished, and the Spiritual Source Pool grew calm, though still half-empty.

Lin Xuan slowly opened his eyes. A flash of Divine Light shot out from his pupils. A more focused gaze and a more powerful physique—these were his gains from the Spiritual Source Pool.

"This Spiritual Source Pool... It’s incredible stuff," Lin Xuan sighed, a heartfelt exclamation.

Little did he know that the Bu Family’s Patriarch and the others had already figured out his identity.
