Chapter 82: Chapter 82: I Really Want to Go

Feng He tossed the rifle onto the table and let out a sigh.

’Over by another thirty seconds. How am I ever going to finish this in under a minute?’

She sat on a chair behind her, watching the other four assemble their rifles. Jiang Lusheng stood beside her, keeping an eye on her from the corner of his vision.

He saw that Feng He wasn’t disheartened. Instead, she was propping her head on her hand and carefully observing the others’ movements.

Following her gaze, he saw Mo Xuan standing before a table, staring intently at the laser rifle in front of him.

Shi Feng, holding a timer, was watching him with an equally serious expression. "Ready?"

Mo Xuan gave a firm nod. Shi Feng began the countdown, "Three, two, one... start!"

As Shi Feng shouted "start," the timer began to run.

The moment "start" was called, Mo Xuan had already snatched up the laser rifle and begun disassembling it. Both of them wore dead-serious expressions.

Nearby, Gu Kaiwen, having just finished his own assembly, stopped what he was doing to watch. Everyone’s eyes were now fixed on Mo Xuan.

Mo Xuan, completely focused, disassembled and reassembled the weapon. The moment the complete laser rifle was back on the table, Shi Feng immediately hit the stop button on the timer.

Only then did Mo Xuan dare to take a deep breath. He didn’t have the nerve to look at the time, so he asked nervously, "Did I make it? Was I over?"

Shi Feng looked at the time on the timer, and a smile broke through his serious expression.

Feng He was also waiting for Shi Feng to announce the time. When he just stood there grinning foolishly without saying anything, she shot to her feet and walked over to see for herself.

A smile spread across her face when she saw the time. Unbelievable...

Gu Kaiwen grew impatient waiting for the result. "Well, are you going to say it or not? Mo Xuan and I are dying to know."

Jiang Lusheng was actually a bit anxious himself; he also wanted to know the result.

Feng He rushed over, threw her arms around Mo Xuan, and said with a huge smile, "You did it!"

"59.6 seconds!"

Hearing the time, Mo Xuan’s eyes widened slightly. He hadn’t expected to clear it by such a narrow margin.

But a success was a success.

Mo Xuan raised his arms to hug Feng He back, a smile spreading across his face.

"My boyfriend is so amazing!" she said, planting a kiss on his cheek. The sudden peck made Mo Xuan’s face turn bright red.

The two guys watching made "TSK TSK TSK" sounds, shaking their heads over and over.

They were being force-fed another dose of public affection.

Shi Feng put the timer down and turned to walk toward Lin Jingjing.

He said over his shoulder, "I’m done hanging out with you lovebirds. I’m not sticking around for this PDA."

Gu Kaiwen hurried to stop him. "Hey, don’t go! I still need you to time me."

"Xiao Shi, I’m begging you," Gu Kaiwen cried out, grabbing onto his arm.

Then he turned back to the couple. "And you two aren’t allowed to be all lovey-dovey in a place like this!"

Feng He watched them with a chuckle. "Alright, no more PDA," she said, returning to her seat.

Jiang Lusheng watched them interact. They were laughing and joking, clearly getting along well. It was obvious they had a strong bond.

Just then, Lin Jingjing walked over. With one hand in her pocket and the other pinching the bridge of her nose, she looked rather frustrated.

"What’s wrong, Sister Lin?" Shi Feng asked.

"I have a recruit who’s proving a bit difficult to teach..." Lin Jingjing said.

Then she asked, "Who completed the task within the time limit?"

Hearing this, Mo Xuan knew instantly what she wanted. He quickly made an excuse. "I, uh, really have to pee. I’m going to the restroom."

He turned to head for the restroom, but he’d barely taken a few steps before Lin Jingjing grabbed him by the back of his collar.

"Not so fast," Lin Jingjing said with a grin. "You’re the one who succeeded. Go help me teach that recruit, will you? She keeps missing the target completely, and I’m at my wit’s end."

Mo Xuan said with a deadpan expression, "I don’t know how to shoot."

The other four were left speechless. Lin Jingjing smacked him on the back. "You don’t know how? Out of the four of you, you’re the best one!"

"Now, get going." With that, she started dragging him toward the main group of people.

Mo Xuan stood there looking utterly defeated. Listening to the incessant chatter around him, he raised a hand and rubbed his temples.

’It’s too noisy. I’d rather be teaching Feng He.’

He glanced over at Lin Jingjing, who was now surrounded by people. She wore a professional smile as she explained things to each of them in turn.

Despite the noise, Lin Jingjing didn’t show the slightest hint of impatience.

Seeing this, Mo Xuan sighed and then called out, "If anyone is having trouble, you can ask me."

Two guys nearby heard him, walked over, and sized him up before one said, "I keep missing the target completely, and I can never hit the ten-ring."

"Fire a couple of rounds. Let me see," Mo Xuan said, gesturing with a nod of his chin.

The guy nodded, raised the laser rifle, aimed at the target, and began to shoot.

Watching his stance and his grip on the rifle, Mo Xuan shook his head. ’It’s all wrong.’

After he fired, he had missed the target again. The guy lowered the rifle and scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "Missed again."

"It’s okay. Your entire grip is wrong," Mo Xuan said, pushing the rifle back into the guy’s arms.

After carefully adjusting his grip bit by bit, Mo Xuan said, "Use three-point alignment to aim."

Jiang Lusheng watched Mo Xuan in the crowd and asked, "Is he a strong shooter, too?"

"He’s decent," Feng He replied. "Not as good as Sister Lin."

"But he’s better than the three of us."

In other words, Mo Xuan’s marksmanship wasn’t on Lin Jingjing’s level, but it was better than the other three.

’I didn’t expect to find so much talent among this batch of new recruits.’

"What’s your specialty?" Jiang Lusheng asked.

"I’m skilled in medicine. I perform surgery. To be precise, I’m a doctor," Feng He replied.

’A doctor...’

’Why isn’t a doctor serving as a medic? How did she end up in the logistics department?’

"Then you should be over in the medical department," Jiang Lusheng said. "Although, looking at your regular training performance, I never would have guessed you were a doctor."

"Haha..." Feng He let out a dry laugh. "Everyone else is working hard, so I am too."

"Besides, the people in the medical department are a bunch of snobs who look down on everyone. I was stationed there before, but they just made me do menial chores all day and never taught me anything, no theory, no practical knowledge. I had no choice but to transfer to logistics."

’So that’s how it was.’ Jiang Lusheng nodded. Then, thinking of an old friend, he said, "I happen to know a doctor. If you’re still interested in medicine, you could learn from her."

As soon as Feng He heard this, her eyes lit up. "Really?"

"She won’t look down on me for my low spiritual power, will she?" Feng He asked.

Jiang Lusheng thought about his old friend’s personality. She was a bit eccentric, but otherwise fine.

All she cared about was a person’s actual skill.

As long as Feng He’s medical abilities were decent, she wouldn’t have any objections.

"She won’t," Jiang Lusheng said, shaking his head. "If you want to, I can put you in touch with her."

"Yes!" Feng He replied without a moment’s hesitation. "I definitely want to!"

’Once I master my skills, I’ll grind every single one of those people from the medical department into the dust!’
