Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Unwaking Slumber

At the sound of Feng He’s voice, Lin Jingjing faltered. Seizing the opportunity, the girl pinned to the ground scrambled out from under her.

She shoved Lin Jingjing aside and quickly scrambled to her feet.

The girl stood and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. Lin Jingjing had already retracted the spiritual power she’d been using to attack them.

"Madwoman," the girl cursed. "Why didn’t you just die on the battlefield?"

"A bunch of worthless trash, you reek!"

The anger Lin Jingjing had just suppressed instantly flared up again.

Feng He’s expression turned grim when she heard this.

The other girls standing nearby immediately shouted, "Manli, shut your mouth! You want to get beaten again?"

Manli snorted derisively, her entire posture radiating contempt.

"She only got me with a sneak attack. Just you watch. In a minute, I’ll beat her so badly she’ll be on her knees, begging me to stop." As she spoke, Manli adopted an offensive stance.

Lin Jingjing and Feng He were both exhausted, and now this woman was provoking them again.

But her words made the anger inside Lin Jingjing flare up instantly. "Feng He, don’t stop me this time."

"I know. Go ahead." With that, Feng He grabbed her things and headed for the washroom.

Her face was cold, and the other girls standing around silently parted to let her pass.

They were afraid that if they provoked her, they’d end up on the bad side of that madwoman, Lin Jingjing.

"Sister Lin, make it quick. We want to shower and get some rest."

"Also, don’t beat her too hard. You don’t want to kill her."

After giving her reminder, Feng He went into the washroom and started to shower.

"Got iiiit!" Lin Jingjing called back. She clenched her fists and charged forward.

Manli immediately put up a defense, but Lin Jingjing was faster. As Manli blocked one of her hands, Lin Jingjing shot out a kick.

The kick landed with full force, sending Manli flying into the wall.

Lin Jingjing rushed forward and delivered several hard slaps across her face.

Every slap was powerful. Her already bruised face immediately began to swell.

"That’s for running your mouth," Lin Jingjing said coldly. "This is what you get when you’re asking for a beating."

Slap after slap rained down. Manli tried to fight back, but Lin Jingjing fiercely overpowered her.

"Let me go!" Manli struggled, but she couldn’t break free. ’This woman is just a Grade D piece of trash! How can she be this strong?’

"Let me go! If you’ve got any guts, let’s fight fair! What’s the big idea, using your spiritual power to pin me down?!" Manli yelled.

Hearing this, Lin Jingjing couldn’t help but laugh. "Didn’t you call me trash? Then how come you can’t break free from my spiritual power?"

"I’m only a Grade D, you know. After being beaten by me, how are you going to show your face around the corps?"

"When they see you, all they’ll remember is how you got beaten by a ’worthless piece of trash’ from logistics."

"If I’m a piece of trash, then you’re the trash of the trash."

Manli heard every single word. She gritted her teeth, her face a mask of indignation.

The military corps was the ultimate playground for ’survival of the fittest’ and ’the strong prey on the weak.’ She’d been defeated by a Grade D nobody. From now on, only endless bullying awaited her.

’I won’t let that happen!’

’I’m a glorious Grade B Spiritual Ability User.’

’I absolutely can’t let this woman ruin it all.’

"Let me go!" Manli struggled and screamed. "I can beat you!"

"Heh." Lin Jingjing chuckled, then swung a powerful punch straight into Manli’s face, knocking her out cold.

It was a completely overwhelming victory. The hearts of the girls watching from behind all gave a jolt.

Lin Jingjing turned to look at them, a sudden smile spreading across her face. "Anyone else have a problem?"

"No, not at all!" they all said, shaking their heads in unison.

"Alright then." Satisfied, Lin Jingjing picked up her toiletries and went to wash up.

The hot water felt wonderfully warm against her skin, and the exhaustion washed over her once more.

She was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open, but she pushed through it.

After she finished, she and Feng He left. The mess from the fight had already been cleaned up by robots.

Manli was taken to the infirmary.

Everything went back to normal, as if nothing had happened.

And yet, when they ran into the other girls, their attitudes had become much more friendly.

At the very least, they no longer muttered insults in their presence.

In that moment, Lin Jingjing finally understood a truth: strength earns you respect everywhere.

Back in their dorm, she collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep instantly.

The soft beds had both of them out like a light.

As soon as Lin Jingjing fell asleep, she entered her Spiritual World. She saw that the small forest before her had expanded once again.

It no longer consisted of just flowers, trees, and a lake; now, there were animals drinking at the water’s edge.

Sika deer, lions, black panthers, tigers, snakes, crocodiles... a menagerie of little creatures stood at the lakeshore, drinking.

They weren’t afraid of Lin Jingjing. A few of the sika deer even came over to nuzzle against her.

The gesture surprised Lin Jingjing; she hadn’t expected them to be so tame.

A tiger even lay down and rolled over in front of her, looking for all the world like a well-behaved kitten.

Even more thrilled, Lin Jingjing hurried over and stroked its head.

The tiger immediately lifted its head in response, clearly enjoying the attention.

After drinking their fill, the animals all gathered around Lin Jingjing. Surrounded by them, she couldn’t stop smiling.

After petting them for a while, Lin Jingjing lay down on the tiger and fell asleep.

A gentle breeze swept by. Lying on the grassy lawn, Lin Jingjing slept peacefully.

But outside her Spiritual World, that one sleep lasted for two full days.

This worried Feng He sick. She had specifically requested three days of leave from Captain Li just to watch over her.

When Jiang Lusheng found out what they had been through on their day off, he generously told them to rest up properly before returning to training.

It was the afternoon of the second day of her leave. Feng He sat by the bed, taking Lin Jingjing’s pulse.

Physically, she was fine—not a single injury. But Lin Jingjing just wouldn’t wake up.

Feng He tried singing to her, but it was no use.

This feeling of powerlessness was excruciating for Feng He, and her heart was frantic with worry.

’If I were only a little stronger, I’d know what’s wrong with Sister Lin’s body.’

’If my medical skills were better, the people at the medical wing wouldn’t look down on us.’

Feng He gripped Lin Jingjing’s hand, her eyes filled with an unprecedented determination.

’I will become the best doctor, and I’ll make it so that no one dares to look down on us.’

’Sister Lin beat some sense into them that day. I’ll make those people in the medical department come begging me for help.’

"Sister Lin, please wake up soon."

"We all miss you so much," Feng He murmured.
