Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 19: Toughening You Up
Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Toughening You Up
After arriving at the dorm and tidying up a bit, the two of them immediately grabbed their towels and went to the public bathhouse to wash up.
They couldn’t understand why, in the interstellar era, their dorm room didn’t have a private bathroom.
Instead, they had to use a large, public bathhouse like this.
It was shocking, and they just didn’t get it.
If Captain Li were here, he would have told them that the reason there was no bathroom was because the place they were living in wasn’t a dorm room at all, but a storage closet.
The legion had recruited a few too many people recently. The dormitories ran out of beds, so they had no choice but to clear out the storage rooms.
The logistics department had only six human members in total; the rest were all robots. And as luck would have it, five of the six were Grade D.
So the guys "won" this storage room. What could they do? Their levels were the lowest.
Having not showered in a long time, the two scrubbed themselves clean. When they came out in their new clothes, Gu Kaiwen almost didn’t recognize Mo Xuan.
"You’re still as pale as ever." Gu Kaiwen looked him up and down before speaking. "You’re just a lot thinner than before. So skinny you’re almost unrecognizable. You don’t look good right now."
After saying that, he thought of Feng He’s starstruck look, shook his head, and said something that made Mo Xuan roll his eyes. "Feng He definitely wouldn’t like how you look now."
"You’re honestly way too ugly."
"Like a pale, plucked chicken."
"You’re not much better, you know. Except you used to be even darker, you hard-boiled egg." Mo Xuan shot back without even looking up, drying his wet hair.
After showering and drinking some Nutrient Liquid, the two of them felt like they had come back to life.
"This stuff is pretty filling." Looking at the Nutrient Liquid in his hand, Gu Kaiwen couldn’t help but feel this thing was a truly great invention.
It was portable, came in many varieties and flavors, tasted pretty good, and was both filling and nutritionally complete. The only downside was that drinking too much of it could cause your teeth to age prematurely.
Captain Li played a round of Star Soul. After winning by replicating Lin Jingjing’s strategy from last time, he was in a great mood.
He went downstairs for a stroll and saw the two newly recruited logistics personnel just loitering around.
’Once you joined his logistics department, no one was allowed to be idle.’
Besides, there was no way Captain Li would let them be idle.
"Hey, you two got nothing to do?" Captain Li approached them, smoking a cigarette. He had already forgotten their names.
"Captain Li!" The two of them saluted and greeted him upon seeing him.
Then they answered, "Nothing at the moment."
"Alright. I’ll take you to the vegetable garden. You can meet the other team members while you’re at it." With that, Captain Li turned and walked ahead, the two of them following behind.
Meanwhile, in the vegetable garden, the three of them had opened the water valves and were watching the pipes above sprinkle water down.
"Is the technology in the logistics department this backward?" Shi Feng didn’t get it. In his past life, they had invented automated vegetable greenhouses, but here, there was none of that.
After sighing, Shi Feng continued, "One day, I will make sure the entire logistics department is filled with technology."
Beside him, Feng He, who was struggling to turn a water valve, let out a dry laugh and said, "Maybe the manufacturing department just isn’t up to snuff. That’s why things are like this now."
"But it shouldn’t be this backward, right?" Shi Feng was confused. Back at the frontline main camp, he had seen all sorts of advanced technology.
Single Pilot Mechas, robotic search dogs, various bomb robots—they had it all.
It wasn’t just limited to weapons; everyday life was also full of technology.
It felt like the logistics department was in a different world from the other departments.
Moving to the next greenhouse, Shi Feng stood before the first switch valve and gave it a hard turn, but noticed no water sprinkled down from the pipe above.
He frowned and fiddled with it some more, but still nothing.
’Is it broken?’ Just as he was wondering, a nearby pipe burst with a BAM, and clean water instantly sprayed everywhere.
It happened so suddenly that Shi Feng didn’t have time to dodge. He was soaked to the bone right where he stood.
"Well now, trying to water yourself like a vegetable?" Captain Li’s teasing voice sounded from behind him.
Shi Feng wiped his face and stepped aside to a spot out of the spray. Then, making a "please" gesture with his hand, he said, "It’s broken. Captain Li, you came at the perfect time. Could you please fix it?"
Captain Li didn’t move from his spot. He just lifted his wrist and activated his Star Ring.
It was unclear what he did, but a robot soon flew over.
The robot landed at the broken spot, opened a compartment in its abdomen, took out some tools, and began the repairs.
"There are robots here?" Shi Feng was especially surprised, watching the robot that had suddenly flown in.
"Yes. The robots usually take care of this place," Captain Li nodded.
’Then what’s the point of us working ourselves to death here?’
"Then why did you have us come here to open the valves by hand?" Shi Feng asked, his face full of confusion as he looked at Captain Li.
Captain Li’s reply was matter-of-fact. "To train you."
’Heh, thanks a lot.’
They were busy spinning like tops every day, passing out the second they lay down in bed.
They were just a bunch of total suckers.
"I found you two some helpers." With that, he called the two men behind him forward. When Shi Feng saw them, he found them familiar but couldn’t recall where he had seen them before.
But when Gu Kaiwen and Mo Xuan saw him, they were incredibly excited. ’It was just as we had guessed!’
’Shi Feng and the others had transmigrated here too!’
Suppressing their excitement, they stood to the side, staring intently at Shi Feng.
Their gazes were so intense it was as if they could burn a hole right through him.
After giving a few brief instructions, Captain Li left, tapping on a blue screen projected in front of him as he walked.
By the time he had configured the robots to automatically repair any damage they encountered, Captain Li had already left the vegetable garden.
With Captain Li gone, Gu Kaiwen immediately rushed forward, grabbed Shi Feng’s shoulders, and said, "I can’t believe you’re here too, kid!"
"Who are you..." Shi Feng asked hastily, being held by the shoulders like that. "How do you know my name is Shi Feng?"
Hearing this, Gu Kaiwen and Mo Xuan glanced at each other. Then, in unison, they both said, "Red Phoenix, Pink Phoenix."
Shi Feng subconsciously replied, "Red and pink phoenixes are all chickens."
Only after the words left his mouth did Shi Feng realize, and a look of joy spread across his face.
"Brother Gu! Brother Mo!"
"Why are you guys in the logistics department too?" Shi Feng asked, extremely excited.
"Our Spirit Levels were too low, so we were assigned here," Gu Kaiwen said, his voice full of regret and frustration.
’How did I end up as a Grade D?’
’If I were just two or three grades higher, I could be on the battlefield killing mutant beasts and protecting people.’
’A Grade D can’t do anything.’
Mo Xuan was most concerned about Feng He. He looked around and then asked, "Have you guys run into Feng He and Sister Lin?"
"They’re in the other greenhouses," Shi Feng replied.
After speaking, he looked at the two of them. So skinny they looked like paper cutouts, with sunken cheeks—no wonder he hadn’t recognized them just now.
’Looks like they must have suffered a lot before this.’
"I’ll take you to find them," Shi Feng said, reaching over to turn on the nearby valve so he could just turn it off when he got back.
Feng He had run off to find Lin Jingjing. She was dashing all over the place, just unwilling to manage a greenhouse by herself.
