Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 119: Passive-Aggressive
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Passive-Aggressive
"We didn’t even do anything wrong!" Jiang Shuying exclaimed, lying on the ground with a red, swollen ankle.
She had already been injected with antivenom, which neutralized the White-haired snake’s poison.
The swelling was from an infection because the wound hadn’t been disinfected.
"We just asked her to save us. She could have refused, so what gives her the right to talk to us like that?" Jiang Shuying glared at Lin Jingjing with hatred in her eyes. To her, everything Lin Jingjing had said and done yesterday was a mockery.
"She should feel honored that we asked for her help!" Jiang Shuying said, indignant.
Hearing this, Lin Jingjing and her four teammates could practically feel question marks appearing over their heads. ’Is this woman crazy?’
"Shut up!" Chen Hao yelled at her, annoyed. "They’re the cooking team! They’re only responsible for bringing us food, not for rescuing us."
"Besides, after what we did yesterday, we should be the ones apologizing to them."
Jiang Shuying was not having it. She stood up, her face a mask of defiance. "They’re just a bunch of delivery people! They’re not as strong as us!"
The five were once again speechless. They usually tried to be humble.
After all, there’s always someone better out there. Plenty of people were stronger than them.
But hearing this woman’s words, they really didn’t feel like being humble anymore.
Lin Jingjing turned to them and said with a smile, "That’s right, you’re the strongest. So strong you destroyed the White-haired snakes’ eggs, stirred up a hornet’s nest, and then needed us to clean up the mess and save you. You’re the strongest. So strong you got bitten by a White-haired snake and your foot is still swollen."
"You guys are just unbelievably strong."
After finishing her sarcastic tirade, Lin Jingjing looked at Chen Hao. "By the way, how many fragments have you found?"
The question made Chen Hao’s expression turn awkward. He averted his gaze slightly and said, "We haven’t found a single one."
Hearing that, Shi Feng couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Oh, my. Aren’t you supposed to be the strongest? How have you not found a single one yet?"
The other three didn’t say anything, but the sound of them clicking their tongues was particularly infuriating.
"We’ve just had bad luck!" Jiang Shuying shouted, craning her neck stubbornly. "We’ll definitely get a fragment today!"
"But some teams have already found two," Lin Jingjing continued, twisting the knife. "And you haven’t even gotten one. You guys really are unbelievably strong."
As she spoke, she gave them a thumbs-up. Her teammates nodded vigorously in agreement. "Yeah, so strong."
Jiang Shuying was so angry her chest heaved. Jiu Yuan, who was next to her, quickly came over to soothe her. "Don’t be angry. We’re just a little behind the others."
After calming Jiang Shuying down, she looked up at the five of them and said with a frown, "Is it fun being so passive-aggressive? I admit we were in the wrong yesterday, and we apologize. You don’t have to be like this."
Hearing her try to turn the tables on them, the five scoffed. "Are you really sincere about apologizing to us?"
"I don’t think so."
"Please, you’re the ones who stopped us. We really didn’t want to deal with you."
"You can’t apologize, you can’t say thank you, and on top of that, we have to listen to her nonsense. And now you’re blaming us?"
Each of them fired off a line, and the faces of the other group turned sour.
"Why don’t you get back to your own business? If you don’t start trying, you’ll be forced to withdraw," Feng He said with a light chuckle. "Forced to withdraw without finding a single fragment... that’s really something." As he spoke, he turned his thumb upside down.
Now their expressions became even uglier. ’Are they saying we’re incompetent?’
"Let’s go. We have our own work to do." Lin Jingjing didn’t want to bicker with these people anymore. She couldn’t understand how they could be so petty.
She didn’t want to talk to them because she was still angry. If Chen Hao had just apologized properly from the start, and if that girl hadn’t spewed such nonsense, they wouldn’t have even stopped to argue.
’No way. I can’t deliver food to them anymore. It’s too infuriating.’
Chen Hao’s face was grim as he watched their retreating figures.
He turned to Jiang Shuying, his face dark, and said, "Check your arrogance."
"Right now, you’re just soldiers in a competition, not some young masters and misses at home," Chen Hao said with a stern expression. "You look down on them, but it was the two of them who saved us yesterday."
"Especially you, Jiang Shuying," Chen Hao said, calling her out by name.
Being called out made Jiang Shuying’s expression even uglier. She just huffed and looked away, refusing to meet his gaze.
The long-haired young man, Sun Baicheng, spoke up to console him. "Captain, don’t be angry."
"I want you to work hard today. Do you really want to be forced to withdraw without finding a single fragment?" Chen Hao said coldly.
"Yes," the four replied.
Seeing this, Chen Hao continued, "This afternoon, you must apologize to them. Especially you, Jiang Shuying."
"Yes..." Jiang Shuying answered reluctantly. ’I’m the young miss of the Jiang Family. It’s a disgrace to have to apologize to a commoner.’
"What a bunch of arrogant jerks. Their pride will be the death of them," Gu Kaiwen said, filled with indignation.
"We just need to do our own job. The competition has nothing to do with us anyway," Mo Xuanbing said, his face an icy mask.
[Damn, they’re so awful! Those people went to save them, and they didn’t even get a single thank you!]
[I was so wrong about her. I’m unfollowing!]
[Are we sure the five from the cooking team are blameless? If they did nothing wrong, why would Miss Jiang be so angry?]
[Right? The way they talk is so harsh. They knew the Sixth Corps hadn’t found any fragments, but they just kept rubbing it in, without any consideration for their feelings.]
[Damn, why should they consider their feelings? If they can’t find any, it’s because they’re trash. Are we not allowed to call out trash when we see it?]
[Considering what they did yesterday, seeing them act like this today is just disgusting.]
A flame war had already erupted online. Two factions were going at it, and new viewers who didn’t know the full story saw the intense argument and quickly went to look up what happened.
After catching up, they jumped into the fray.
Unaware of the firestorm online, their task for the day was to continue gathering medicinal herbs.
They headed deeper into the forest to dig for herbs. Their luck was excellent; while digging, they discovered a ginseng plant.
Lin Jingjing stared at the ginseng hidden in the undergrowth, stunned for a moment.
She reached out to examine the plant’s leaves, just to make sure she wasn’t mistaken.
After a closer look, Lin Jingjing confirmed that it was, indeed, ginseng.
"Feng He!" Lin Jingjing quickly shouted to him from a short distance away.
"What is it?" Feng He called back.
"Come here for a second!" Lin Jingjing didn’t dare say she had found ginseng, afraid that if she said the word, it would disappear.
Feng He walked over. "What’s up?"
Lin Jingjing quickly pointed at the plant. "Ginseng."
