Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 108: Extreme Dodge
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Extreme Dodge
At this scene, everyone’s gaze fell upon the official who had been spouting nonsense.
As all eyes landed on him, on the big screen, Lin Jingjing had already climbed down from the tree, having also taken the bird eggs from the nest.
"I’ll do it!" the official said, gritting his teeth. He propped himself up with his hands and began.
But his cheeks burned with shame—a real, stinging pain.
"Is this enough?" Feng He asked, looking at the few wild chickens and rabbits in their hands.
Lin Jingjing took a look and said, "Isn’t there a river nearby? Just go there and catch a few fish. That should be enough."
With that, she looked at Gu Kaiwen and yelled, "Xiao Wenzi, you go downstream and catch a few fish."
The rest went to butcher the chickens and rabbits and build a stove.
Because it had rained, the firewood here was all damp. However, they could still find dry wood by going a bit further. Even wood that wasn’t completely dry was usable, it just produced a lot of smoke.
It took them over twenty minutes to build two stoves: one for boiling rice and the other for stir-frying.
They had chosen a spot upstream on the riverbank, so the few of them butchering the chickens and rabbits went downstream to do it.
Feng He brought over a bucket of water, then took out something high-tech.
After she dropped a white tablet in, it slowly dissolved. Ten minutes later, the water was safe to use for cooking.
The tablet killed the bacteria in the wild water, so drinking or using it wouldn’t cause diarrhea or sickness.
The rice was already steaming, and Shi Feng had gone to look for wild vegetables. Nature could be cruel, but it also gave back in other ways.
Just like now, Shi Feng saw a lot of wood-ear fungi and mushrooms on a large, rotten tree trunk. Not only that, but the wild vegetables were also growing luxuriantly.
The basket he had brought was slowly filled with mushrooms, wood-ear fungi, and wild vegetables.
Moreover, he also found some edible wild fruits. On his way back, Shi Feng spotted some fruit hanging from a tree in the distance. After a closer look, his expression turned to one of pure ecstasy.
They were apples!
’To think there are apples in this forest.’
He ran over and picked a whole bunch. The apples were quite small, and he had no idea if they were sour or sweet.
After picking his fill, Shi Feng headed back with his basket. But on the way, he encountered a bear that had been drawn by the scent of blood.
Shi Feng reached for the laser gun on his back, then scrambled up a tree as fast as he could.
He also hung the basket of food on a branch. Once that was secure, he took the laser gun and aimed at the brown bear’s head.
He sat sideways on a large branch, his hand holding the laser gun steady. Shi Feng took a deep breath. ’I hope I can kill it. If I can’t, I’m in big trouble.’
The netizens watching all felt that Shi Feng couldn’t handle this big bear on his own. After all, he had previously left a rather poor impression.
How could a man so afraid of snakes that he cried possibly take down such a huge brown bear by himself?
After taking aim, Shi Feng fired. The laser gun was equipped with a suppressor, so it didn’t make a sound.
The laser gun fired a laser bullet. The white-glowing projectile went straight into the brown bear’s eye.
Seeing that it wasn’t a headshot, Shi Feng was incredibly frustrated.
The laser bullet wasn’t enough to kill the brown bear. It clutched its blinded eye and roared.
"ROAR—"
The bear’s roar was heard both upstream and downstream along the nearby river. The fish in the water were so startled by the sound they scattered in every direction.
Glancing at the bucket beside him, Gu Kaiwen saw that it already contained several fish.
Gu Kaiwen stopped wading and walked out of the middle of the river.
"A bear’s roar. Could Shi Feng have run into trouble?" Mo Xuan, who was cleaning a chicken, looked into the distance and asked with a frown.
"Maybe," Gu Kaiwen said, setting the bucket aside. "You keep busy here. I’m going to check it out."
"Alright." Mo Xuan nodded. He sat on a rock with a pot of boiled water beside him, his hands busy plucking chicken feathers.
Halfway there, Gu Kaiwen saw Feng He, who had also come to investigate.
"You heard it too?" Feng He asked, looking at him.
Gu Kaiwen nodded. "Shi Feng might be in danger."
"I hope he’s okay," Feng He said.
When they arrived, they saw Shi Feng, laser gun in hand, being chased all over by the bear.
He looked utterly pathetic, yet he managed to dodge at every critical moment.
The netizens watching the live stream were all discussing whether Shi Feng would finally get swatted by the bear.
But to their disappointment, no. Shi Feng was as agile as a monkey, dodging every single swipe.
Shi Feng dodged another of the bear’s attacks. Upon seeing the two of them, his face lit up.
"Xiao Wenzi, Feng He, help me!" he shouted, his body very honestly running right in their direction.
The bear’s aggression was fixated on Shi Feng. As he ran toward the two of them, the bear followed.
And so the scene unfolded: Shi Feng running for his life, with the bear in hot pursuit.
"The hell!" Feng He stopped in her tracks and cursed. "Don’t you come over here!"
After shouting, she turned and ran. Gu Kaiwen stood to the side, watching her pathetic display, and said disdainfully, "You’re scared of this? So useless."
"If you’re so tough, you go!" Feng He retorted from ahead.
"Fine, I’ll go." With that, he pulled out a short blade and charged forward. Just as the bear’s paw was about to strike Shi Feng again, Gu Kaiwen blocked the paw with his blade.
Shi Feng had already rolled to safety behind Gu Kaiwen.
Turning his head to see Gu Kaiwen holding back the bear’s claw with a short blade, he shouted excitedly, "Bro, I love you!"
Hearing those cheesy words, Gu Kaiwen shrieked like a cat with its fur on end, "Love my ass!"
"Now help me out!"
Just then, Feng He, who had already run a good distance away, yelled, "Heads up! I’ve got my gun aimed!"
Their teamwork needed no words. Shi Feng was already running. Gu Kaiwen couldn’t hold on any longer; his hand slipped, and he pulled back his short blade before diving to the side.
From a distance, Feng He seized the opportunity and fired. A white laser bullet shot straight toward the bear’s head.
Before the bear could even react, its head was blown open by Feng He. The tall, menacing beast collapsed to the ground.
Shi Feng came out from behind a tree after hearing the thud. He only breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that it wasn’t moving.
"Is it dead?" Gu Kaiwen asked, emerging from a nearby bush.
"It’s dead." Shi Feng walked over, found a stick, and poked the corpse again and again.
Seeing that it really wasn’t moving, a wide grin spread across Shi Feng’s face.
The netizens watching this were a bit silent. ’Did this kid only master dodging because he’s afraid of pain?’
[What can I even say? I’m speechless.]
[This kid’s got a few tricks up his sleeve.]
Even the VIPs in the viewing room were a little speechless.
They had watched the kid perform one miraculous dodge after another for a good seven or eight minutes.
