Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 100: Snowing
Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Snowing
"Play? What is there to play?!" the girl’s mother said impatiently. "Your sister is sick and all you can think about is playing. Can’t you have a heart?!"
Listening to her mother’s words, the girl lowered her head even further.
"Can’t you just be a little more sensible for once?"
Standing at the crosswalk, the girl’s mother was still muttering. Every word she said made the girl’s expression grow more pained.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she didn’t dare let them fall.
The five of them watched this scene, and Shi Feng muttered, "That mom really doesn’t care about her older daughter’s feelings at all."
Mo Xuan looked at the little girl, reminded of his past self. He glanced at the Mecha model in his hand, hesitated for a moment, then stood up, walked over, and said, "This is for you."
"Don’t cry." Mo Xuan said with a stern face. "From now on, if you want something, you have to fight for it yourself. Don’t pin your hopes on others."
The little girl took the Mecha model, looked up at Mo Xuan, and the tears in her eyes finally streamed down.
"Thank you..."
When the light turned green, the girl’s mother started walking. Halfway across, she noticed her daughter hadn’t followed and turned around, her voice full of impatience. "What are you doing? Hurry up and follow me!"
"Go on," Mo Xuan said, patting her on the head. "Work hard."
"Mhm!" The little girl nodded emphatically, then clutched the Mecha model and ran toward her mother.
The other four stood behind Mo Xuan. Feng He watched the little girl and said, "She’ll do great things someday."
"Just like you."
Mo Xuan gave a small laugh. ’I haven’t done anything great.’
"This is probably as far as I’ll go in life, but I hope she can fly higher and farther," Mo Xuan said.
"You haven’t flown high?" Shi Feng frowned and asked. He had clearly reached a height most people could never touch in their entire lives, yet he could say something like that.
’Such a humblebrag.’
"It’s not enough." Mo Xuan shook his head. "I want to help more people, but I can’t save them all."
"Then just keep working hard," Feng He said, putting an arm around his shoulder.
After finishing their snacks, the group continued to wander around. When they ended up at a mall, they decided to go see a movie.
Sitting in the theater, they wore black 3D glasses and waited for the film to start.
"ROAR!" A mutant beast bellowed, opened its cavernous mouth, and swallowed them whole.
The five of them jumped in fright. It was a truly immersive film; the mutant beast really did open its mouth and eat them.
"This... is a little terrifying," Shi Feng, who was a bit timid, said fearfully as he watched the movie.
"Haha..." Gu Kaiwen chuckled, feeling like he’d actually been eaten.
After the movie, they walked out with trembling legs. ’How does this movie feel even more intense than going into battle?’
"I felt like that knife really dissected me..." Feng He said, touching her stomach, looking completely dazed.
"Mine was even crazier. That mutant beast opened its mouth, ate me, and then chewed and chewed before swallowing me," Shi Feng said, rubbing the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
After one movie, the group was so terrified they didn’t even know what the plot was about.
"I guess I’m just too low-brow for this," Gu Kaiwen said with a long sigh. "I can’t handle it. I prefer 2D!"
"Hahahaha," Lin Jingjing laughed, then teased them, "You guys are all so weak. You can’t even handle this?"
The four of them stared at her, their faces showing speechless exasperation: ...
"You’re the strongest."
"You’re the best."
"You’re amazing, truly amazing."
"You’re the greatest."
Not to be outdone, the four of them shot back with sarcastic praise.
Lin Jingjing listened to their words and huffed twice, then clasped her hands behind her back and said with a smile, "Of course. I’m the strongest."
The group started bickering again. Amidst the noisy squabbling, they bought a pile of daily necessities and snacks before heading back.
With the parts purchased, Shi Feng could proceed to the next step.
The Mecha’s arms and legs were taken care of, and the head had been bought as well.
All that remained was the Mecha’s final core: the chassis.
This is where the pilot stays, connecting to the limbs and head. This part is the most crucial.
The Corps competition was still a week away, and Captain Li wasn’t bothering them anymore. Shi Feng spent every day running to the Mecha Manufacturing Room.
Except for Feng He, who had to go study medicine with An Ni, the other three went to help Shi Feng.
When they realized just how much work one person had to do, they all shut up.
No wonder Shi Feng always grumbled during meals about wanting to create a few clones of himself. Assembly and coding were the easy parts. The most important thing was that Shi Feng was doing all this while learning as he went.
If he made a mistake, he had to take it apart again. Not only that, but if he didn’t have a suitable piece of metal, he had to operate the machinery to grind one out himself.
Oftentimes, he would only complete a tiny bit after a whole day’s work. The progress was incredibly slow.
Fortunately, with the help of the other three, the pace picked up considerably.
By the time the outer shell was ready, it was already the fifth day. The Corps competition was about to begin.
Many new faces had arrived at the First Corps, and Captain Li had been incredibly busy lately.
As the head of the logistics department, he had to arrange accommodations for the members who were coming to compete.
There were also a lot of big shots, and with war correspondents and the like showing up, it was incredibly lively.
The weather on B6 Star was unpredictable. A few days ago, it had only been slightly chilly, but today, a heavy snow had begun to fall.
After getting out of bed, Lin Jingjing looked outside at the robots busy clearing snow. A glance at its depth told her that it must have snowed heavily last night.
She tightened the thick clothes she was wearing, preventing the cold wind from getting in.
"Let’s go." Feng He felt unbearably cold. Seeing Lin Jingjing dawdling, she couldn’t help but shout, "Sister Lin, hurry up! I’m freezing to death!"
"Who told you not to wear thick clothes?" Lin Jingjing retorted, shoving her hands into her pockets while eyeing Feng He’s thin coat.
Yesterday, Captain Li had taken a rare moment out of his busy schedule to assemble them, but the purpose of this assembly was just to give them some thick clothes.
The weather yesterday hadn’t been this cold. When they were carrying the thick clothes back, they were still asking why they were being issued.
As it turned out, they got inside only to see heavy snow beginning to fall.
"How was I supposed to know the weather would be this crazy!" Feng He shivered, huddled up against the cold, her teeth chattering so much she could barely speak clearly.
"Hurry back and put on more clothes."
The two of them rushed back to the dorm. Only after putting on her thicker clothes and warming up did Feng He finally let out a sigh of relief.
"I’m alive again."
"Remember to dress properly next time," Lin Jingjing reminded her. She was pacing by the desk, holding her cat and stroking its fur.
"Meow~"
[Master, isn’t my fur nice to pet?]
"Very nice," Lin Jingjing replied.
"Meow~"
[Then can we go with you?]
"No, I have important things to do today," Lin Jingjing refused.
Because today was the general mobilization for the Corps Competition, and everyone had to go listen to the leaders speak.
