Chapter 311 Major Crisis
Indeed, something had emerged from the ground.
A gigantic arm had risen, its presence exceptionally formidable; once it appeared, it scattered the dark magic flames and caused the surrounding stone walls to continually vibrate.
For a moment, a terrifying aura spread from the cavern, overwhelming everyone to the point where they struggled to breathe—a situation that indeed stretched beyond their understanding.
The presence targeted a few of them.
What an incredibly powerful Spiritual Body!
Locke realized something and his face drastically changed as he quickly dashed towards the array dais in the center of the cave.
“Boss, we’ll hold it off; you evacuate first.”
“Sorcerer Ivan, he’s right, you must leave first.”
Jenny’s expression was equally grave as she, too, approached the front of the array dais.
Being a clone, Locke and Jenny existed solely because of their original; facing the impending life-threatening crisis, they hesitated not a bit in choosing to protect Ivan.
By then, Ivan had fished out a bead and a Token.
The bead was only the size of half a palm, covered with white lines—it was a ‘Chaos Space Bead’ created based on the third possibility of the Pure White Eyes, capable of generating a small uncontrollable space turbulence when tossed.
The Token was a ‘Substitution Token.’ As a cornerstone of the School of Space, Vice President Angus had specially issued one to him. Ivan casually threw the Token outside the defensive barrier.
Ivan didn’t move yet but was ready to evacuate at any moment.
“Crack, crack.”
The first thing that couldn’t withstand the strain was the Formation within the cavern; the ground cracked inch by inch, causing the arm that had only protruded a forearm’s length to abruptly stop.
The arm shuddered a few times as if it had been wounded.
Ivan seized the opportunity to wrap the dark magic flames around the arm again, engulfing it tightly in a turbulent sea of fire.
With a slight tremble of the arm, the dark magic flames scattered once more.
Seeing that the dark magic flames did no damage to the arm, Ivan could no longer keep his composure and almost threw the Chaos Space Bead into the cavern.
However, at this moment, another anomaly occurred.
Above the cavern, an enormous vortex suddenly appeared. Ivan could clearly see the weave of space itself rotating orderly with the vortex, a truly majestic spectacle.
A jet-black lock chain fell from the vortex, aiming directly for the arm below.
The arm seemed startled and quickly retracted, but the jet-black chain wrapped around it precisely and rapidly, leaving it unable to advance or retreat.
“Clang, clang, clang—-“
As the arm struggled, the jet-black chain would occasionally tighten and then shake a few times.
In the next second, the arm ceased its struggle, and the jet-black chain began to retract upwards, simultaneously pulling the arm with it.
It turned out that the owner of the arm had severed his limb voluntarily, thereby also completely shattering the Formation on the ground.
In an instant, the jet-black chain retracted the severed limb back into the vortex.
Just when Ivan and others thought that everything would settle down, an anomaly emerged within the vortex. They witnessed a strange place where there stood a grand millstone, majestic as a mountain. Beneath the grand millstone lay innumerable tormented Spirits.
The grand millstone crushingly ground down on the Spirits below, over and over, their faces covered in fear and agony, all emitting silent screams.
Undoubtedly, the Spirits’ situation was extremely dire; they seemed to be enduring punishment.
Upon seeing this scene, Locke involuntarily shuddered.
The vision shattered in an instant, and an object flew out of the great whirlpool, descending directly in front of him and hovering there. At the same time, the whirlpool abruptly dissipated as if it had never appeared. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
“Is this—for me?” Locke was somewhat at a loss as he looked at the bracelet made of interwoven chains close at hand, and couldn’t help but turn to Ivan.
“Then take it.” Ivan had just stepped down from the array dais, he didn’t know what it was, but it looked like a stroke of luck for Locke.
“Alright, I’ll take your word for it.” Upon hearing this, Locke reached out and passed his hand through the bracelet.
The bracelet automatically adjusted to fit the size of his wrist, and a flash of light revealed a line of words—”Grand Grinder,” which seemed to be a title.
“How is it?”
“It must be a fantastic item that can restrain Spiritual Bodies, watch this.” After putting on the bracelet, Locke understood a lot more and raised his hand, a thin chain shot out from the bracelet.
The chain was a light black color, and it was unclear what metal it was made from—it was hard to tell its worth from its appearance and aura.
“Sorcerer Ivan, could you tell what that place was just now?” Janey glanced a few times and lost interest, slowly walking to one side.
“It must have been an alien plane of existence, filled with malice towards Spiritual Bodies, although I’ve never heard of it before.” Ivan pondered and spoke.
Both the arm and the great whirlpool were phenomena he had never heard of; he could only admit his knowledge was still shallow.
“Let me ask you, what exactly is a ‘Grand Grinder’?” Ivan turned to Locke, who was fiddling with the chain; the three words from before were clearly in the script of an alien world, yet he inexplicably understood them.
“Uh—I don’t know either, I only know one thing, there will be benefits to clearing out Spiritual Bodies in the future,” Locke scratched his head and replied.
“Why not give it a try?” Ivan gestured towards the interior of the cave.
Inside the cave, the Formation was destroyed, but the special force field hadn’t completely dissipated.
They had tried before; it wasn’t something that could be eradicated completely.
“Okay.”
Locke’s eyes brightened, and he stepped forward, entering the cave again.
He attuned himself for a while, and once again, the chain popped out of the Grand Grinder’s bracelet, hitting precisely a spot on the ground and easily penetrating deep inside.
The next second, the remnants of the special force field weakened bit by bit and quickly vanished without a trace.
“It really works.” Locke laughed, and then something occurred to him. “But, what about the benefits?”
As soon as he finished speaking, a force fed back into his body from the bracelet, making his aura steadily strengthen, moving from the middle phase of Level 2 towards the latter phase, and nearly reaching the limit of Level 2.
This made him so delighted he couldn’t contain himself.
“Not bad, afterward you can visit Wafting Scent Castle, where there’s an even larger congregation point for Spiritual Bodies,” Ivan looked at him approvingly.
“Mmm-hmm, I definitely should go,” Locke quickly nodded in agreement.
“Actually, Sorcerer Ivan could use this place to research spatial teleportation; after all, those Spiritual Bodies were teleported here,” Janey suggested from the side.
“Uh—why didn’t you say that earlier?” Locke was stunned for a second, greatly annoyed, if only he had known, he wouldn’t have cleared it out so quickly.
“It’s a good idea, but Spiritual Bodies are Spiritual Bodies, and humans are humans, the differences between them are quite significant, and the difficulty of drawing lessons from them is not to be understated, maybe it could be tried later.”
Ivan didn’t feel too regretful; if teleportation arrays were so easy to research, they wouldn’t be the ultimate topic for the School of Space.
…
Somewhere in the mountain ranges where Chanay Continent meets Botta Blood Plain, there was also a hidden gathering place for Spiritual Bodies. In the center of the gathering place was a dark cocoon the size of a charcoal boulder, seven or eight meters long, surrounded by many Spiritual Bodies lying prostrate on the ground.
A crack had originally opened in the black cocoon, and an arm had reached out from it.
At this moment, the arm seemed to have suffered a heavy blow, breaking off at the elbow and quickly retracting back into the cocoon, and the crack sealed up.
And with that, the black cocoon fell into silence.
