So I Became a Witch and Started Doing Daily Quests
Chapter 567 ·Flame General
Furthermore, as a Wizard Apprentice who had mastered the 【Law of Growth Fragment】, once Janna officially advanced to a full-fledged wizard and left the protection of the White Tower and the 【Lower Star Domain】, the threats she would have to face could no longer be resisted by those few 【Law Authorities】 she possessed.
Even if Janna managed to evade the threats lurking in the dark for now, once she left the 【Leap Zone】 and ascended to the 【Divine Zone】, those hidden dangers would inevitably surface, forcing her to confront them head-on.
Even the once-mighty 【Ivrecia–Twilight】, who presided over the 【Laws of Nature and Life】, could only barely preserve the 【Material Plane】 from being completely devoured by the Outer Gods through self-sacrifice.
Janna knew very well that if she were placed in the same situation as 【Ivrecia–Twilight】, she would not necessarily fare any better.
Moreover, Janna never had any intention of sacrificing herself.
What she wanted—had always wanted—was to live well.
And along the way, to explore the worlds and universes she had never known before.
Therefore, to ensure this goal could be achieved, Janna, in addition to her primary focus on the 【Laws of Nature and Life】, did not mind also cultivating other powerful 【Laws】.
For instance, the 【Dream Demon Witch】 had repeatedly emphasized to Janna her exceptional affinity with the 【Law of Love and Beauty】, as well as the 【Law of Contracts】, which harmonized perfectly with her own A-rank talent, “Spirit Traverse.”
With the combined blessings of these three powerful 【Laws】, Janna firmly believed she would never repeat the tragic path of 【Ivrecia–Twilight】!
Of course, the singularity of the 【Primary Laws】 determined that Janna could not possibly master the 【Law of Contracts】 while the 【Lord of the Spirit Realm】 still existed.
Thus, Janna decided to take a step back—so long as she could grasp a certain 【Secondary Law】 beneath the 【Law of Contracts】 and fully unleash her A-rank potential, she would already be more than satisfied—
“Whew—” Exhaling deeply, just as Janna was about to return to bed and enter deep meditation, a sudden fluctuation from her contract medium connected to the Witch’s Tree broke her rest once more.
“It’s Enyard! It’s calling for help!”
Sensing the anxious emotions from her contract link with the Flame Guardian—Enyard, Janna hesitated not for a moment and immediately activated her innate talent.
“Spirit Traverse!” A radiant burst of seven-colored light flashed within Janna’s pupils. As the overpowering sense of weightlessness struck, she endured the mounting fatigue within her mind and descended in spiritual form directly onto the 【Flame Plane】, where her contracted creature, the Flame Guardian, resided.
“It’s… the Flame General!”
Originally thinking that the Flame Guardian had been besieged once again by other creatures of similar rank, Janna instead discovered that its opponent this time was nothing of the sort—it was a being entirely engulfed in blue fire, a 【Flame General】—a fire elemental whose power rivaled that of a full-fledged wizard!
“Damn it! Why did Enyard provoke a 【Flame General】!?”
According to the color classification of flames, the creatures within the 【Flame Plane】 were divided into five tiers:
Crimson – Fireball Sprite,
Orange-red – Flame Guardian,
Blue – Flame General,
Purple – Flame Lord,
Black – Flame Monarch.
A Flame Guardian like Enyard, whose body burned in orange-yellow fire mixed with faint streaks of blue, possessed strength equivalent to a peak Third-Tier Wizard Apprentice.
But the 【Flame General】, whose body was composed entirely of pure blue fire without a trace of impurity, was an existence comparable to a formal wizard.
Upon ascending to the rank of 【Flame General】, these fire elementals not only possessed terrifyingly high-temperature flames but were also notoriously difficult to deal with, for they could exert absolute control over lesser fire elementals beneath them.
At that moment, the 【Flame General】, facing the trembling Flame Guardian, chose not to devour it immediately. Instead, it used the vast gap in their hierarchy—its superior will—to crush the Flame Guardian’s resistance, attempting to subdue it.
“Ah—!” Under the oppressive will of the 【Flame General】, the Flame Guardian’s desperate resistance was accompanied only by a series of sharp, agonized cries.
It would not be long before the Flame Guardian’s soul would crumble under such relentless suppression. Even if it refused to yield, the permanent damage to its spirit would destroy any possibility of further advancement.
“I command you by my will—Summon the Hundred-Eyed Specter!”
“I command you by my will—Summon the Thundercloud!”
“I command you by my will—Summon—Radiant Dream Butterfly!”
Hum! As three flashes of light appeared, the long-unseen Hundred-Eyed Specter, Thundercloud, and Radiant Dream Butterfly emerged one after another beside Janna.
“Silver Mirror, cover me here! Thor and Artemis—distract the 【Flame General】! Buy me some time—remember, do not engage it head-on!”
Receiving Janna’s command, the three contracted beings immediately carried out her orders.
At the same time, the 【Flame General】, sensing the surge of magical fluctuations, turned its gaze toward Janna’s position.
“Crackle—!” Just as the 【Flame General】 was about to spot Janna, a streak of bluish-violet lightning burst from the Thundercloud’s body and struck the Flame Guardian below, successfully diverting the creature’s attention.
Infuriated, the inherently volatile nature of the fire elemental overwhelmed the 【Flame General】’s reason. Without a second thought, it summoned a torrent of blazing blue flames, mercilessly hurling them toward the Thundercloud.
“Szzzt—!” Though the Thundercloud hovered high above and far from the 【Flame General】, the searing heat radiating from the flames alone vaporized two-thirds of its “cloud body,” leaving it grievously wounded.
“Thud—” Just as the 【Flame General】 prepared to manipulate its flames once again to obliterate the detestable insect before it, thousands of colorful butterflies appeared without warning, their wings beating rapidly as they surrounded the creature, successfully diverting its focus away from the Thundercloud.
“O Messenger of the Sea, you who are the most faithful guardian of the Endless Ocean and the master of tidal power—under the eternal starlit sky, I beseech you to heed my call—”
