Chapter 262 - Big Biomass Spending!
After dealing with these evolutions, Lohan looked at his own status screen and was shocked by the amount of biomass he had stored there.
For the past few days, he had been simply accumulating biomass in preparation for a major evolution.
Instead of constantly buying small evolutions, Lohan preferred to accumulate large amounts of biomass within himself as a form of protection and insurance, since in case of injury this biomass reserve could save his life; only after even more biomass had been stored would he spend it on evolutions.
And the amount stored now was tremendous.
Considering both the biomass he had kept stored after his last evolution and the biomass he gained from digesting the hundreds of monsters they’d killed in recent days, subtracting the biomass he’d spent daily to heal in combat or restore his and Lisa’s energy, Lohan was surprised to see that number.
[Biomass: 182 Units]
182 units of biomass might not seem like much compared to the thousands he had previously, but considering that each unit of biomass now equaled a thousand units from before his evolution, that meant Lohan had the equivalent of 182,000 units of biomass accumulated!
Sure, he didn’t intend to spend all of that on evolutions, after all, his biomass reserve still needed to be preserved, but even if he kept 100 units of Biomass stored as an extremely large safety net, there would still be 82 units of Biomass left to invest in evolutions, and that was exactly what Lohan spent.
With so much Biomass available for evolutions, Lohan started by spending 8,670 Biomass to evolve his Efficient Digestion 20 times!
[Efficient Digestion Lv 20 → Lv 40]
Lohan hadn’t thought much about it at first, but as soon as the evolution took place, with the digestion process in his body increasing so drastically, Lohan was shocked by the sensation he was feeling.
This 20-level increase wasn’t just a 220% boost in his digestion speed; it was an increase of over 500% compared to his previous speed!
His base digestion rate, which was “only” 72.46 Bio per hour, had now skyrocketed to 487.47 Bio per hour!
That was just his base digestion; adding in all the other upgrades, Lohan, even without the hemolymphatic tissue evolution, could already digest 7,268.18 Biomass per hour, and with the improvement from that evolution, Lohan’s current speed was a mind-boggling 39,974.98 Biomass per hour!
Obviously, these were the pre-refinement values Lohan had after his Level 11 evolution, so the actual amount of biomass he was currently digesting per hour was 39.97 billion, but that was still a monstrous figure!
Considering that it had taken Lohan days to store less than 200 units of biomass, now if he had a mountain of corpses, or was lucky enough to find a high-level creature with no will to live, he could digest that corpse extremely quickly!
And for low-level creatures, Lohan could now digest them at a speed visible to the naked eye!
The common Level 12 monsters he encountered had an average of 1 unit of biomass in their bodies; with Lohan now able to digest nearly 40 Bio per hour, if he stuck to these enemies with low biomass density, he could digest their entire bodies in just over a minute!
Even Level 15 monsters, which had several times more biomass in their bodies, would take at most a few extra minutes to be digested.
Sure, these monsters wouldn’t just stand there for a few minutes letting Lohan digest them, but Lohan didn’t need to digest the monsters entirely.
If he digested the head or the legs of these monsters, wouldn’t the battle practically be won?
He could simply store the corpses of those monsters in the Astral Chest and finish the digestion later, as long as the monster was dead.
By spending just 8.67 Bio, he had already received such a massive upgrade; Lohan was excited to keep investing.
So he invested a large amount of Biomass into his new Evolutions.
[Claw Projection Lv 1 → Lv 5] – Biomass spent: 11.44 Units
[Synergy Link Lv 1 → Lv 5] – Biomass spent: 29.22 Units
[Racial Command Lv 1 → Lv 5] – Biomass spent: 17.54 Units
The evolution cost and how much the value of each of these new evolutions increased with each level were different and very high, matching the potential these evolutions held, so Lohan wasn’t all that surprised that he spent even more on them than on Efficient Digestion, even though they had only evolved 4 levels each.
Sure, Lohan tested these new evolutions, and the cost to project claws from his body was now lower than before; the claws were even tougher and sharper than when they were at Level 1, perhaps to the point where the claws Lohan projected now were even better than those of the Player from whom he had killed and stolen this skill.
The same applied to the Synergy Link and the Racial Command; although Lohan couldn’t test the latter, the improvement brought by the second skill already made the power difference that the borrowed ability could demonstrate slightly closer to the original power now!
But this served as a reminder to Lohan that although these new Evolutions were very tempting and powerful, he shouldn’t ignore his previous original Evolutions.
So with that in mind, he chose his next Evolutions.
[Body Density Lv 16 → Lv 26] – Biomass spent: 9.29 Units
[Structural Stability Lv 22 → Lv 29] – Biomass spent: 2.33 Units
[Instinctive Perception Lv 18 → Lv 24] – Biomass spent: 1.65 Units
[Natural Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 1 → Lv 7]Biomass spent: 1.59 Units
[Pack Instinct Lv 12 → Lv 16] Biomass spent: 1.26 Units
With all these evolutions, Lohan had spent a total of 84 Biomass; different aspects of his body had been strengthened, and even though there were still low-level evolutions available and he had 100 Biomass stored, Lohan still chose to be conservative and save those evolutions for the future.
The power he felt within himself was tremendous, to the point that if he could, he would run to that Level 15 Dungeon right now to kill all the monsters by himself.
Fortunately, he managed to calm down and realize that the euphoria over his new power was just an illusion; he really was more powerful, much more powerful than most creatures at his level and even a few levels above, but he wasn’t invincible yet.
A proper plan needed to be made before an operation like this could be carried out.
And Lisa, meanwhile, was shocked by the subtle changes she could see happening in Halon, unable to imagine just how much he had changed.
[NunuNote: I’ve lost track of how many hours I’ve spent calculating these evolutions; I’m exhausted. Please leave a comment to give me a boost. (I know many of you might want other evolutions right now, just don’t curse at me in the comments <3)]
