Chapter 129 - The Matriarch Returns

Chapter 129: 129 – The Matriarch Returns

“Aaaahhhh, I want to kill him!!!” A shrill, furious voice rang out in the Silverport church.

Looking at the rage of that reborn person who had just appeared there, the church priest let out a sigh, but surprisingly accustomed to this kind of behavior, he acted very naturally as he guided the young priestesses to make room for that person to calm down before proceeding with the rebirth process.

Ever since the Goddess issued a decree warning that people from another world would appear in Elysium, and that when these people died they would be reborn in her churches, there had been great concern and shock among the believers.

Initially, they thought these people would be like church missionaries—divine, pure, and holy beings who would help bring peace to Elysium.

But after the initial contact, it became clear that these people from another world were not what they had imagined.

The first people they met acted like ordinary people—very serious and busy, but with a normal sense of respect.

The problem was that among that group of people, there were also those with identities similar to those of nobles, who, upon dying and being reborn in the churches, became enraged, trying to smash everything without fear of the consequences, enraged at losing the rare Race they had, forcing church members to keep them in captivity for a while, both to calm them down and to make them pay for the damage they caused.

These people did not take confinement very well, becoming more and more aggressive as time went on, to the point of giving up, turning into blue lights, and disappearing in front of everyone.

Only to return a few hours later, or the next day, this time calmer, but still angry and thirsty for revenge.

With the increase in these cases, dealing with these people had become more of a headache than an honor bestowed by the Goddess.

“Judging by that woman’s furious scream, it looks like we’ll have another complicated case today…” A young priestess sighed.

The priest watched the woman, who was now pounding the stone wall of Silverport Cathedral with clenched fists, screaming about a certain “Halon” and a “damned fox.”

For the locals, the scene was a vivid and painful reminder that the “Goddess’s Envoys” were beings driven by a logic that defied their mortal sanity.

He knew that, for these Otherworlders, death was not the end, but a bitter new beginning that often shattered the pride and power they carried.

From the distorted aura the woman exuded, the priest realized she was acting like someone who had lost something immensely valuable.

Perhaps a divine blessing that the Goddess would not grant again, now relegating her to a common and fragile existence, as had happened to others enraged in recent days.

That was what fueled these people’s fury: the abrupt fall from “divine nobility” to “common rabble” in a single moment of failure.

The Goddess, in her infinite wisdom above the clouds, had warned that these billions of mortals would be the salvation against the creatures of the void, but to the simple servants of the church, they seemed more like a plague of powerful and unstable children.

The phenomenon that believers called “Stellar Retreat”—when these beings transformed into blue particles and vanished before everyone’s eyes—was what disturbed the clergy the most.

They did not understand that the Otherworlders were merely returning to the “real world”; to the faithful, the Goddess was pulling them back to purify their minds before returning them to the world, often much calmer.

“Prepare the containment seals and the Mana incense,” the priest ordered in a low voice to the priestesses. “She will soon become light and leave us for a time. Let us pray that, when she returns, she does not try to set the city ablaze in search of this Halon fellow…”

But to the priest’s surprise, the woman who had been screaming hysterically with rage suddenly stared into the void before her, and her eyes—which had been filled with fury and despair—now shone with excitement.

“Are you kidding me?! After dying, I only lost my Race?! My Matriarch Class is still with me?!” The woman spoke to herself, not caring one bit about the people around her.

Confirming that she still had access to her skills, despite having dropped from Level 10 to Level 09, Brynn was amazed!

“Now that I no longer have to deal with the stinky, ugly body of a Beetle, my Matriarch Class can wield even greater power!” she realized excitedly!

“MWAHAHAHAHA! Halon, you son of a bitch, I’m going to end your life!!!” She laughed and shouted excitedly, no longer showing the fury she had felt just a few minutes ago.

Seeing that strange change in attitude, the priest was confused, no longer sure whether he should arrest this Otherworlder, or if he could consider her sane enough to be allowed to leave the church.

Suddenly, the woman looked up and stared at the priest.

Seeing that he was just an “NPC,” she acted with disdain, not even bothering to speak to him, and walked away gracefully.

Unlike the large, deformed body she had as Queen Beetle, Brynn had now taken on a physical form that resembled 80% of her appearance in the real world.

She had long black hair with deep purplish hues that framed a pale, aristocratic face characteristic of the people of the Upper Zone.

Her eyes were a vibrant, piercing purple, shining with the same intensity and malice she displayed when commanding the beetle army.

She wore a dark, sophisticated outfit, composed of layers of fine fabrics with blue and purple details, which accentuated the slender silhouette she now possessed as a human.

Walking with a grace impossible to display as a Beetle Queen, Brynn ignored the priest’s presence, focused solely on her plans for revenge against Halon and that damned fox.

And upon seeing a group of people dressed like her, acting exactly like the people of the Upper Zone she knew, a confident smile appeared on the woman’s face.

[NunuNote: To clarify, as mentioned earlier in the novel, a Player can strive in the game to achieve higher-rarity Classes, as happened with a college student who became a knight’s squire and saw his class change from Common to Uncommon. Following this logic, when a Player dies, they lose their Race and revert to being human, but the Class is still retained. (Since it wouldn’t make sense to lose that.) I hope that made sense to you all <3]
