Slayer: I Kill All Dragons For Power
Chapter 110: Surprises
We all give a nod before getting onto the wagon.
This man is definitely not one I have ever met before but maybe one of the others will know something about him. It'd be good to know who the hell is coming along with us on this trip.
Or at least if this guy is strong? That would also be a pretty good question to have answered.
I know most of the people around the fort which is why this is so strange to me. I've never seen or heard from this guy before... Then again I could've seen him?
He is wearing a helmet that covers his face.
"What are you thinking about Kain?"
I look over to see Sylvia inches away from my face.
In seconds I can feel my face burn up a bit as I thinking back on what Laz was talking about in the tavern.
"Uhh..."
"Kain? Are you okay haha," She teases.
"Sorry I just got caught off guard I guess," I reply. "But I don't really know who that guy is."
She looked back at Laz for a moment before turning to face me.
"The one who asked if we were ready?" Sylvia asks curiously.
"Yes."
She sits next to me quietly for a few moments after that.
"I don't believe I do, but he is just taking us to Fort Aldion."
"I see. I guess I won't think about it too much then."
We finally make our way towards Fort Aldion, leaving behind Mythos for the time being. I listen to the conversations between everyone and occasionally chime in.
It is a different feeling to have friends like this.
The trip to Aldion is mostly peaceful with no real problems occuring, just everyone yelling stories and joking around. It makes you forget all about the war around us.
This same war is also something I learned more about over the last year. It really has been going on for a long time, yet nobody has come out on top.
We really do need some sort of game changer if the war is to end. It makes me wonder if the dragons are already working on something of their own to end it all.
Definitely a terrifying thought to have.
~I feel the dragons would have used it already if that was the case Kain.
Not necessarily. It is like the vision all over again.
There's no telling if that dragon was the sole reason the kingdom fell or if there is something else entirely. I never saw anything further in the visions so it could be related to a weapon.
I won't say that with certainty, but I will say that it is a possibility.
~A possiblity that could definitely change the war for the worst. It may even result in the overall downfall of humans on this continent.
But these are only hypothetical scenarios to consider. I wouldn't go focusing on them anytime soon.
Right. It is better to focus on what is good now and the people around me.
An hour passes by as we suddenly come to a complete stop.
"What's going on?" Niko asks.
The man from before speaks up this time.
"Someone is standing in the middle of the road."
Immediately I glance over the side of the wagon to see a familiar face standing ahead of me.
I watch for a moment as I notice he is squinting to look towards us.
"Holy shit!! Kain!" He shouts.
I hop over the side of the wagon to see Aaron is standing in front of me.
"What are you doing here Aaron?!" I question with a bit of confusion in my voice.
He gets a bit closer until he's only a couple of meters away from me.
"I'm on my way to Fort Aldion. It looks like you are as well," Aaron answers with a hearty laugh following afterwards.
He still has the same joyful energy as before. I'm glad to see he hasn't changed at all since the last time I saw him.
The last time was probably when we attempted to save the village. I don't think I've seen him since then.
Not once in the entire year that I've been living here at Fort Mythos. I can't believe he's here right now.
~Slayers do come to help out quite often Kain.
I know, just I didn't expect Aaron. He didn't strike me as the slayer to show up for the Frontlines. Actually that's not right of me to assume.
He's definitely a Frontline type of slayer.
~You are definitely overthinking this.
"Kain! We should get going!" The man from before shouts.
"You should just come along since we're heading there," I say before turning back around.
Aaron laughs once more.
"Sure. I'll come along with you."
With that he follows me back over to the wagon and hops on. I can instantly hear a few people say his name as they recognize him.
It seems like he does have quite the reputation which makes sense. He's been doing this a lot longer than I have.
"Aaron!!" Sylvia shouts with a bit of excitement.
"Hello Sylvia. It has definitely been quite awhile."
"I can't believe you are Also going to Fort Aldion."
He sits down next to me.
"I heard they needed some extra help so I decided to tag along."
Extra help really is needed at Aldion. I wonder what is happening there that they need the help.
"What kind of help?" I chime in with some curiosity.
"They mentioned something about planning a big attack on some sort of dragon outpost."
Dragon outpost? I didn't think dragons had such a thing but I guess they are capable of having them too. I wonder how different a dragon outpost is compared to a human one.
Would they also be in human form? It makes me wonder about what I can expect.
~Dragons do have their own outposts, bases, and even kingdoms.
That's good to know for the future.
