Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 80: Great Saint, Put Away Your Divine Techniques
Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Great Saint, Put Away Your Divine Techniques
"What’s that smell?"
Zhao Yang sniffed the air, then sniffed himself, and then leaned in to smell Lu Feifei’s chest.
He shook his head, baffled. "I don’t smell anything."
Lu Feifei’s face turned red, and she smacked Zhao Yang on the forehead. "Not that kind of smell! I’m talking about... a faint, burnt smell. Like something’s scorching."
"I don’t... COUGH, COUGH~"
Zhao Yang sniffed again. Just as he was about to say he didn’t smell it, he was choked by a sudden coughing fit.
"Where is all this black smoke coming from?"
Staring at the black smoke rolling in from all directions, Zhao Yang was completely bewildered.
Lu Feifei was quicker to react. She grabbed Zhao Yang, summoned her sword, and flew into the air. They shot straight up for over a thousand meters. Looking down at the forest being devoured by flames, Zhao Yang’s face was a mask of utter confusion.
After the confusion came sheer, unadulterated fury.
"Who the hell was it?!
Do you have to be such a scumbag?!
All I did was share a sweet moment with my girlfriend! We weren’t even doing it in front of you, so what business is it of yours?
Was it really necessary to set the whole place on fire?"
Hanging in the air, pulled along by Lu Feifei, Zhao Yang looked down at the furiously burning forest below and started cursing up a storm.
Lu Feifei covered her face with one hand and couldn’t help but glare at Zhao Yang.
"Oh, stop it. Are you an idiot? Can’t you see someone is trying to burn down the entire forest?"
"Burn down the forest?"
Zhao Yang froze. "Who?
What kind of psycho would do this? There are at least several thousand people hiding in this forest! Does this bastard want to barbecue all of us?"
"I don’t know," Lu Feifei said, shaking her head.
"But whoever set this fire is a real piece of work. We only escaped so easily because we’d cleared the trees around our resting spot.
If we had still been fighting a Tree Demon in the woods, we might have really been burned alive."
Hearing his girlfriend’s analysis of how dangerous their situation had just been, Zhao Yang cursed a few more times in anger.
After Lu Feifei finally managed to calm him down, Zhao Yang couldn’t stop himself from launching into another indignant rant.
"People these days... they just have no morals.
How did such a depraved person even get into these ruins?
Feifei, think about it. We’re all human.
You have noble people like Elder Guo, who painstakingly guided my cultivation all night and even gave me an Elixir.
And then you have scum like this, setting the forest on fire, trying to bury all of us competitors in one big blaze.
How can human nature be so hideously ugly?"
Lu Feifei: "..."
She stared at Zhao Yang speechlessly for a long while. She really wanted to ask him a question.
’We didn’t even notice when they set the fire. Are you sure the arsonist isn’t hiding somewhere nearby right now?’
’Saying all this... aren’t you afraid someone’s going to jump out and beat you to death?’
Fortunately, Lu Feifei’s worries did not come to pass.
Flying along, setting fires along the way.
Su Han, who was so used to his Concealing Breath Technique that it was practically a passive skill, left a trail of fire without anyone discovering a trace of him.
As a result, wherever he flew, utter chaos would erupt within the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.
Every so often, a Cultivator would come flying out of the woods.
Some looked a bit disheveled but were otherwise unharmed.
Others, however, weren’t so lucky. They’d fly into the air still on fire, and with a gust of wind, their clothes would turn to ash and scatter, leaving them feeling a rather... chilly breeze.
Of course, if it was a man, it wasn’t so bad... but if it was a woman...
Heh, one could only imagine how much they must have wanted to kill Su Han in that moment.
As he cut a fiery swath through the forest, Su Han even forgot his original purpose, getting completely caught up in the fun of it all.
While he was having a blast, there was another being in the ruins—besides the Cultivators caught in the crossfire—whose face was as bitter as a gourd.
Within the ruins, in a hidden pocket of void, a blurry humanoid figure gradually materialized.
Using some special means to watch Su Han fly and burn his way through the forest, it just couldn’t figure it out.
’Why?’
’It had guarded these ruins in slumber for millions of years, and never once had there been an accident.’
’So how did it run into a guy like this the moment it woke up?’
’He uses his ultimate move and destroys over a tenth of the ruins in a single blow!’
’And now he’s setting fires... He’s trying to burn down the entire Forbidden Forest, leaving nothing for me!’
Watching Su Han cheerfully flying above the forest, the shadow couldn’t help but press a hand to its forehead, feeling a touch of melancholy.
’What was it supposed to do with a guy who so flagrantly refused to play by the rules?’
’Send out stronger Demon Beasts?’
’Yes... there were Demon Beasts in these ruins under its control that surpassed the Celestial Being realm.’
’It could command beasts not just of the Creation Realm, but even those beyond it.’
’But... what was the point?’
’With that one sword strike from before, even if it stacked up every Demon Beast in the entire ruins, it wouldn’t be enough for that bastard to cut down!’
’Just sit back and watch him continue to wreak havoc in the ruins?’
’That’s absurd!’
’Did it even want its territory anymore?’
It raised its head.
And looked to the sky.
The shadow couldn’t help but sigh softly.
’Things had come to this. It couldn’t keep hiding. If it stayed hidden any longer, who knew if that guy would suddenly take an interest in something else after he was done burning the trees.’
’And then, perhaps accidentally... dismantle the entire ruins?’
It absolutely believed that was a possibility. You couldn’t judge this guy by the standards of a normal person.
After all... using a normal person’s logic, it still couldn’t understand why this guy was burning down its trees.
The kind of burning that suggested he didn’t plan on leaving a single one standing.
Averting its gaze from the sky, the shadow shook its head in resignation.
Its form gradually faded, disappearing from the void.
"Great Saint, rein in your Divine Techniques!"
Su Han, who was having the time of his life setting fires, abruptly stopped in mid-air.
"Who?"
He turned to the side, his eyes locked on the hazy shadow, full of vigilance.
"Hiding and skulking around... are you trying to launch a sneak attack?"
The shadow: "..."
’When the hell did I ever think about a sneak attack? Which one of your eyes saw me planning to ambush you? Do people in your family shout a warning before they launch a sneak attack?’
As if using some self-taught Mind Reading Magic, Su Han looked at the shadow and questioned it again, "If you’re not planning a sneak attack, then why did you pop out right next to me?"
The shadow: "...If I said I was afraid that popping out in front of you would startle you, causing you to lose control and crash into me, would you believe me?"
Su Han glanced at the shadow and nodded. "I would."
"Hooo~"
The shadow took a deep breath, fighting the urge to hit him. This guy’s brain really was wired differently from a normal person’s.
’So... here’s the question. How should it talk to him?’
After some thought, the shadow decided that with a guy like this, it couldn’t beat around the bush. It had to get straight to the point.
And so...
"Great Saint, please just tell me what your demands are. These Demon-Devouring Trees are innocent. Please, be merciful and leave them a way to survive."
Su Han: "...Who? What... did you just call me?"
He hadn’t paid attention the first time, but when the shadow called him that again, Su Han wasn’t about to ignore the title.
The shadow gave him a strange look. "Great Saint."
Su Han: "...Do you have a problem with me? Do I, this Crown Prince, look like a monkey to you?"
The shadow: "..."
The shadow was completely dumbfounded by Su Han’s question, okay?
It sized Su Han up from top to bottom, left to right, front to back for a long while. "You... are of pure human blood?"
Su Han glared at the shadow. "You know this Crown Prince is human, so why are you calling this Crown Prince a monkey?"
The shadow: "...What monkey? I called you Great Saint!"
