Six Months Contract With The Mafia God

Chapter 419: Antonio And Lorenzo Are After Dante

Lorenzo stood in the master bedroom of the empty villa.

Around him, his tactical teams were finishing their final searches. They’d cleared every room. They’d found the tunnel. They’d understood the complete scope of their failure.

His daughter had been here. Right here in this building. And she’d walked out voluntarily with his enemy.

It was the most humiliating defeat of his life.

He stood at the window, looking out at the moonlit countryside, and made a decision.

He pulled out his phone and dialed.

Antonio answered on the second ring.

"Lorenzo," Antonio said, and there was something almost expectant in his voice, as if he’d been waiting for this call.

"I wondered when you’d call," Antonio continued.

"My daughter is gone," Lorenzo said without preamble. "Dante took her. They used an underground tunnel that was built into the property. We had a forty-minute window, and they were already gone before my teams even breached the villa."

There was silence on the other end of the line.

"Tell me everything," Antonio said.

Lorenzo explained the escape, the timing and the extraction point.

"He planned this carefully," Antonio said when Lorenzo finished. "He didn’t improvise this. He prepared for it."

"Yes," Lorenzo confirmed. "Which means he had resources. Which means he knew about security weaknesses my own teams didn’t even know existed. Which means...."

"Which means Dante Romano is significantly more capable than we gave him credit for," Antonio interrupted. "And your daughter chose to leave with him."

"He might have Covenant backing," Lorenzo said, grasping at explanations. "That would explain how he had the intelligence to...."

"It doesn’t matter," Antonio said flatly.

Lorenzo stopped.

"What?" Lorenzo asked.

"It doesn’t matter if Dante has Covenant backing or not," Antonio repeated. "Because you’re about to tell me that despite his backing, despite his resources, despite whatever advantage he might have....you still want your daughter back."

Lorenzo was quiet for a long moment.

"I don’t care about his backing," Lorenzo said finally, and there was something raw in his voice now. Something that broke through the strategic control. "I want my daughter back. I want to know she’s safe. I want to understand what happened."

"Then we need to talk about alliance," Antonio said.

"The arrangement with your family was predicated on Isabella," Antonio said. "On the marriage. On the binding of our families. That arrangement is now defunct."

"I know," Lorenzo said bitterly.

"But we have a new problem," Antonio continued. "Dante Romano has proven that he can penetrate your most secure installations. He’s taken your daughter. He’s making moves that suggest he’s positioning himself as a power player in Rome. And he’s doing all of this with strategic precision that suggests he’s far more dangerous than we initially assessed."

"So?" Lorenzo asked.

"So we deal with him," Antonio said simply. "We combine resources. We pool intelligence. We find him and your daughter. And we decide what to do from there."

"What are your conditions?" Lorenzo asked, understanding that Antonio wouldn’t help without asking for something.

"First," Antonio said, "I want clarity on something. The alliance that was supposed to bind our families through Isabella...that’s finished. Dimitri has his own priorities now. I have mine. We’re not moving to restore that arrangement." ℴ

"Understood," Lorenzo said.

"Second," Antonio continued, "we focus on Dante as the primary threat. We locate him. We gather intelligence on his operations. We understand his capabilities and how The Covenant are using him and what he is being used for. And then we move against him decisively."

"And Isabella?" Lorenzo asked, and the question came out almost softly.

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

"Isabella made her choice," Antonio said carefully. "She left your estate willingly. She got in Dante’s car willingly. She’s with him by choice. That’s the reality we have to accept."

"So we just leave her with him?" Lorenzo asked, and there was pain in his voice now.

"No," Antonio said. "We deal with Dante because he’s a threat. Because he’s demonstrated capability that makes him dangerous. Because he’s shown he can move against established power structures. When we find him and deal with him, what happens to Isabella after that, whether she returns to your family or chooses a different path, that’s her decision to make."

Lorenzo understood what Antonio was saying. They weren’t going to war for Isabella specifically. They were going to war for strategic reasons. But the outcome might involve bringing her back, or it might involve letting her choose her own path.

"I can accept that," Lorenzo said.

"When can you mobilize resources?" Antonio asked, shifting into operational mode.

"Immediately," Lorenzo said. "I have teams throughout the south. I have contacts in every major city. I can have intelligence gathered within hours."

"Do it," Antonio said. "I’ll activate my own networks. We pool everything we find. We coordinate operations. We move together."

"How do we handle Dimitri?" Lorenzo asked. "He’s going to hear about this. He’s going to have his own response."

"That’s where things get complicated," Antonio said. ".Dimitri has his own priorities....his woman, his business, his concerns about The Covenant. He’s not focused on Dante. He’s not focused on your daughter. He’s focused on things that matter to him personally."

"And you’re going to move without telling him?" Lorenzo asked, surprised.

"I’m his father," Antonio said. "And I have a responsibility to protect our family interests. If Dimitri had wanted to handle Dante, he would have already done it. He hasn’t. So I will. He may not like it, but he’ll understand the necessity."

Lorenzo understood the implication. The old guard was reasserting control. The fathers were taking charge. The sons’ priorities didn’t align with this operation, so the patriarchs were moving independently.

"We’re operating as a unit," Antonio said. "You and me. The Russo and Valentino families united against a mutual threat. When we have Dante located, we move together. Agreed?"

"Agreed," Lorenzo said.

"Then activate your people," Antonio commanded. "Every resource. Every contact. I want to know where Dante went. I want to know where he’s hiding. I want to know what moves he’s making next."
