Six Months Contract With The Mafia God

Chapter 408: Bring Her Home

  • Next Chapter

Lorenzo stood at the window of his study, looking out at Rome.

His city. His territory. His domain.

And Dante Romano had walked into it, placed an operative in his household, seduced his daughter, and orchestrated her removal from his control.

The audacity of it was breathtaking.

The violation of it was consuming.

Lorenzo had built everything...his wealth, his power, his family’s legacy, on the foundation of control. On understanding every variable. On anticipating every move.

And Dante had played him.

Isabella had chosen Dante.

His own daughter had betrayed him.

The rage that consumed Lorenzo was beyond anything he’d experienced in decades. It was primal. Consuming. The kind of fury that destroyed everything in its path.

"Get me a full tactical team," Lorenzo said to his security coordinator. "And get me everything we have on Dante Romano’s operations in Rome. Everything. I want to know where he is. I want to know what he’s doing. And I want to know how to dismantle his entire operation."

Milo had been moved to a secure location.

Lorenzo’s interrogators were thorough and experienced.

"Where did Dante take her?" the interrogator asked.

"I don’t know," Milo said. "I was only ordered to open the gate. That’s all I know."

"Did he give you instructions in person?" the interrogator pressed.

"Yes," Milo said. "He came to my quarters. He explained the operation. He paid me. He told me to wait for Isabella to arrive at the gate."

"Did he say where he was taking her?"

"No," Milo said. "He said I didn’t need to know. Compartmentalization."

The interrogator looked at Lorenzo, who was observing from behind one-way glass.

Lorenzo understood. Miko was telling the truth, or at least the truth as he knew it. Dante had been careful to keep the operative isolated, to give him only the information he needed to complete his specific task.

It was professional. It was strategic. It was exactly the kind of operational security Lorenzo would have employed himself.

Lorenzo’s head of security provided him with a full briefing.

"Based on current intelligence, we have three primary scenarios," the security chief explained. "One: Dante has taken her to a safe house we don’t know about. Two: He’s taken her outside of Rome entirely, possibly to an ally’s location. Three: He’s taken her to territory controlled by another family...possibly Valentino, though that seems unlikely."

"What’s the probability of each scenario?" Lorenzo asked.

"Scenario one is most likely....60 percent," the security chief said. "Scenario two is 25 percent. Scenario three is 15 percent."

"Focus all surveillance on scenario one," Lorenzo said. "Every property Dante has ever been connected to. Every location that could possibly serve as a safe house. I want those locations identified and monitored within the next two hours."

"We’ve already identified approximately twelve possible locations," the security chief said. "Teams are being deployed to establish perimeter surveillance around each one."

"And if we find her?" Lorenzo asked.

"Then we move in," the security chief said. "Full tactical extraction. Neutralize any resistance. Bring her home."

***

The Russo estate had transformed into a command center.

Security personnel moved with urgent purpose. Communications equipment crackled with operational updates. Maps were being marked with surveillance positions and tactical approach routes.

Lorenzo had not sat down since discovering Isabella was missing.

He stood at the command table, studying the maps, the intelligence reports, the operational assessments.

Somewhere in Rome, his daughter was with Dante Romano.

And Lorenzo was going to find her.

"We have movement at the villa location," a field operative reported. "Two individuals entering the structure approximately one hour ago. One male, matches Dante Romano’s description. One female, matches Isabella Russo’s description."

Lorenzo’s grip on the table tightened.

"Maintain surveillance," Lorenzo ordered. "Do not approach. Do not engage. I want that villa surrounded. I want every exit covered. I want thermal imaging on the interior. I want to know exactly where they are at all times."

"Understood," the operative confirmed. "Full surveillance in place. Awaiting your orders."

Lorenzo set down the communication device.

Isabella was at that villa.

She was with Dante.

And within the hour, he was going to make a decision about how to proceed.

***

Camilla was still in Isabella’s room.

She’d called Dr. Armani to discuss medication, perhaps something had been wrong, perhaps Isabella had been unstable, but the doctor had been straight and sounded sincere.

Camilla simply sat in Isabella’s bed, holding her daughter’s phone, and tried to understand how her child had become a stranger.

11:30 PM — LORENZO’S DECISION

Lorenzo stood in his study with his security team.

The villa was surrounded. The surveillance was complete. Dante and Isabella were confirmed to be inside.

"What do you recommend?" Lorenzo asked his head of security.

"We have two options," the security chief said. "Option one: We raid the villa tonight. We extract Isabella by force. We eliminate any resistance, including Dante if necessary."

"And option two?" Lorenzo asked.

"Option two: We maintain surveillance. We wait for them to leave the villa. We follow them to wherever they’re planning to go next. Then we move when they’re more vulnerable, less prepared for extraction."

Lorenzo considered both options.

"Option one," Lorenzo said. "We move tonight. We extract my daughter. And we send Dante a message that no one steals from the Russo family without consequences."

"It will be a direct confrontation," the security chief warned.

"I’m counting on it," Lorenzo said coldly.

***

Teams were being briefed for tactical insertion.

Weapons were being checked. Routes were being finalized. Communication protocols were being established.

Within thirty minutes, a full tactical team would be moving on the villa.

Within forty-five minutes, Isabella would be removed from Dante’s custody.

And within an hour, Dante would understand that he’d made the most catastrophic mistake of his life.

Lorenzo stood at the window of his study and watched Rome spread out below him.

His daughter had betrayed him.

Her lover had violated his territory.

And now, the consequences would be absolute.
