Chapter 366: Chapter 366: Fall of the Behemoth

Chapter 366: Fall of the Behemoth

Lyra’s long eyelashes fluttered.

And then, she opened her eyes.

A pair of deep, mesmerizingly beautiful crimson eyes flashed with an unearthly, peerless light.

The catastrophic battle that had been tearing the ancient forest apart had come to a complete standstill.

High in the air, Rhain stood suspended in the sky. His dark grey eyes were locked onto the crimson-haired girl floating below.

The colossal one-winged eagle was in an even worse state.

The overwhelming pressure radiating from the phantom of the war goddess had physically pinned the Level 8 Domain Master beast to the earth.

It lay pressed against the ground in a paralyzed state, unable to even twitch its razor-sharp talons.

As the ethereal phantom behind Lyra slowly dissipated into the red clouds, the crushing suppression pinning the beast finally lifted.

The eagle struggled weakly, pushing against the shattered ground to lift its massive head.

But the moment it raised its golden eyes, it met Lyra’s furious crimson gaze.

The bloodthirsty aura radiating from her slender body was ominously powerful, fused with a scared majesty that shook the beast’s heart with fear.

The beast instantly lost every single shred of its willpower to continue fighting.

It knew that if it stayed here for even a second longer, it would be certainly annihilated.

SKREEEEEE—!!!

The beast let out a shrill cry of despair.

Without a single moment of hesitation, it resolutely burned its remaining life force.

BOOM—!!!

A torrential burst of golden lightning erupted from its body as it forcefully launched itself into the sky.

It fled with a speed so incomprehensibly fast that even with the Heaven-Grade Boundless Sky Wind, Rhain would have found it almost impossible to intercept.

But Lyra was not about to let the beast that had nearly killed them escape.

"Domain of Heavenly Retribution!" Lyra’s chilling voice rang out.

WHOOSH—!!!

A bloody domain of slaughter expanded from her slender frame, instantly locking down the surrounding airspace.

B

uzz—! Buzz—! Buzz—!

The space behind her back violently rippled, and dozens of glowing crimson rapier shadows materialized in the air.

Each one radiated a lethal killing intent.

Lyra slowly raised her hand, pointing her delicate finger directly at the fleeing behemoth.

"KILL!"

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The dozens of crimson rapier shadows shot forward with a speed that even surpassed the late stage Domain Master flying beast.

They tore through the sky like streaks of divine punishment, effortlessly catching up to the burning eagle.

The indestructible golden feathers that had even repelled Rhain’s broadsword earlier could not resist for even a second.

"SKREEEEE—GAAAAH!"

The crimson rapiers mercilessly slashed right through the eagle’s massive body.

They punctured its body, shredded its wings, and pierced its internal organs, leaving more than a dozen bloody holes in its wake.

Blood rained down from the sky like a macabre waterfall.

THUD—!!!

The colossal beast plummeted from the sky, crashing heavily into the ruined earth.

But it wasn’t dead yet.

The vitality of a Level 8 Domain Master beast was simply too monstrous.

Even with its body riddled with more than a dozen holes and its life force draining rapidly, it was still drawing breaths.

It lay in the crater, twitching weakly, its life force rapidly bleeding out through the dozen gaping holes.

It was clear that the beast would not live for very long.

Rhain, however, was not a man who left things to chance.

Swoosh—!

He descended from the sky, his boots touching down directly in front of the dying behemoth.

The eagle saw the dark-robed youth approaching.

Its golden eyes, now dimming with the shadow of death, burned with a venomous hatred.

It knew that it was dying solely because this human had severed its wing and relentlessly forced it into this miserable state.

If it was going to die, it was going to drag this hateful man to hell with it!

The beast forcefully wrenched its blood-stained beak open one last time.

It burned the very last bits of its soul, gathering a final suicidal beam of highly concentrated red lightning.

Rhain looked at the beast’s last struggle with a chilling gaze.

He channeled the very last remaining drops of essence from his nearly depleted cores, funneling it entirely into his right fist.

"Eight Desolates Tyrant Fist."

BOOM—!!!

A concentrated wave of pitch-black, obliterating essence erupted from his knuckles, crashing head-on into the desperate beam of red lightning.

The dark essence effortlessly swallowed the red lightning, continuing its trajectory to slam directly into the eagle’s skull.

The beast’s head was entirely pulverized into a mist of blood and shattered bone.

The colossal eagle went completely limp.

The Level 8 Domain Master beast was finally dead.

Swoosh—!

Lyra’s figure descended from the sky, landing lightly beside Rhain.

She staggered to his side.

The overwhelming, bloodthirsty majesty that had surrounded her just moments ago was rapidly fading, her complexion turning deathly pale once more.

"Rhain..." Lyra gasped, her crimson eyes struggling to stay open as she looked at the headless carcass. "Is it... is it dead?"

Rhain gave a firm nod. "It is over."

He turned his head to look at her, his mind spinning with questions. "Lyra, what exactly happened to your—"

But before he could finish the sentence, Lyra’s crimson eyes rolled back.

The exhaustion of awakening her physique and unleashing a Domain she had not yet fully mastered had completely drained her.

Her delicate body went limp, falling forward.

Rhain moved swiftly, catching her slender frame securely in his arms before she could hit the ground.

"Lord Rhain! Lady Lyra!"

A frantic voice called out. Karsten rushed out, followed by the surviving mercenaries.

Rhain glanced at them. Beside Karsten, only four mercenaries remained standing.

The fifth had given his life to shield Rhain and Lyra from the lightning beam.

Rhain’s expression turned solemn as he looked at the ruined surrounding.

"We should leave as soon as possible," Rhain commanded strictly, adjusting his grip on the unconscious girl in his arms. "The commotion of this battle and the scent of a Level 8 Domain Master’s blood will definitely attract the attention of other powerful beasts lurking in this forest. If we stay here, we will die."

Karsten and the four mercenaries nodded vehemently, their faces still ghastly white from the sheer terror of the ordeal.

They didn’t dare to linger for a single second.

After quickly harvest the eagle’s massive carcass and its core, Rhain carried Lyra and led the battered group away, rapidly dashing into the ancient forest.

The cratered wasteland fell silent behind them.

A few minutes later, the space above the ruined zone gently rippled.

Swoosh—!

The translucent figure of the old man slowly materialized in the air.

The remnant soul hovered silently, his ancient eyes sweeping over the devastated surroundings.

He stroked his beard, a look of profound awe etched onto his withered features.

"To think she actually awakened that physique..." the old man murmured, "The Blood Heaven Valkyrie Physique... No one in her clan has managed to do it in the last one thousand years."

The old man turned his gaze toward the direction where Rhain and Lyra had vanished.

"I truly cannot fathom her future!"
