Synopsis:

Sumire Shinohara escaped Baku’s dream world after finally accepting the person she had become.

That does not mean she came back whole.

Only a few days passed in reality, but Sumire lived another life inside the dream. She had a family. A school. Friends. Rivals. A wife. She learned how to fight, how to love without hiding, and how to stand on her own... then she had to leave almost all of it behind.

Now she has to face the future in the body of her dead first love, carrying Reiko’s memories alongside her own and trying to build a life that belongs to neither Susumu nor Reiko alone. The girls she loved in the dream are gone... but not entirely.

The monster inside her is still there too.

Reality has not waited for her. Her old apartment has been emptied. Reiko’s family still mourns their daughter. SSDS still faces the Spiritual Detective exam, and Sumire still has no idea how to control the power sleeping inside her.

Then she learns that one small piece of her old life may still exist: the cheap plastic keychain Reiko gave Susumu on the day they first met on their local playground.

Finding it should be simple.

Instead, the trail leads toward a mysterious collector, a string of disappearances, and a side of Tokyo’s yōkai world where other people’s memories can become someone else’s.

Sumire survived losing her face. She survived becoming someone else.

Now she has to decide what parts of the past are worth fighting for... and what kind of person she wants to become when the future finally is truly hers.

If you’re looking for urban fantasy, yōkai, horror, found-family, chaos, harem, sentai, absurdity, slapstick, comedy, tragedy, romance, identity, fanservice, gender bending, and unhinged supernatural shenanigans -- this story is still for you.

Book three shifts into a completely different gear again, and yet it will be very familiar, a great deal like book one, without all the physical slapstick comedy unless there are yokai in a scene.

Book one was about what happened when Susumu lost his face and his identity gradually melted away. Book two was about what happened when she gained new ones. A new face, a new person to be.

... But book three is about what happens after she chose her name and how she lives with it.

There will be much more mystery this time. The last book was about a grand romance that I hope swept you off your feet even as Sumire's heart progressively experienced more and more DOKI-DOKI moments.

There will be more actual spiritual detective work, even though Sumire still doesn't have her Spiritual Yokai Detective license and MANY more martial arts fights. More family. More horror. More YURI! More harem chaos than ever! More emotional damage. And more moments where one reasonable decision somehow becomes ten difficult and completely unreasonable problems.

This is not a reset. It's a continuance of Shinrabansho: Myriad Souls. Everything that happened in Books One and Two shapes what happens next as pieces come together.

True Genres:

This third book is completely new and is still being written, meaning that it could be anywhere from two weeks to a month before I release the first chapter. Please be ready to pile in! I hope that you'll be so kind as to leave thoughtful comments and heart chapters to cheer me on as Shinrabansho: Myriad Souls continues to evolve and develop!

Unlike the first two books, I'm releasing this synopsis in advance of finishing the third book.

We're currently at a staggering 500,000 for this book. This book shatters every record that I've set so far. No book that I've written could ever compare. And together Shinrabansho will most likely break 1,000,000 words. That's really exciting for me! <3

Book three has reached chapter 3.127, which breaks another record for me. No book that I've written has had this many chapters in it.

And I still haven't gotten around to writing the Detective Exam arc yet. I promise that this book will take you from that morning where Sumire had to sip her tea in an effort to shake off the effects of her memories blending with her dream self and kissed Rui senselessly to taking the exam and the aftermath beyond it. The plot continues to thicken, and you'll start seeing glimpses of what I plan in book four for the clever ones who love to theorize and imagine what will be.

Will there be mistakes? Most likely! I do my best, but I am still one person writing, editing, and keeping track of a very large story that gets larger with each book. I am not going to pretend it will be perfect in the end... even after I spend far too much time rewriting and editing it.

But I know what kind of story I am telling today and yesterday, and I am not going to rush past the emotional parts just to reach the next fight, because I love fluff and good pacing.

Speaking of that, there will be no large time skips in book three at all.

As usual, no unrealistic expectations. Right now I’m telling the story I want to tell, however it works out, and I hope that you love it and show me your love! =^.^=

Expectations:

You’ll smile.

You’ll cry.

Sumire will continue to change and grow.

She will not become Reiko, but she also will not go back to being Susumu from book one.

She will have to learn what being Sumire actually means.

The MC will hurt... a lot. Blood. Broken bones. Emotional damage. (This one is especially guaranteed)

There will be action and real fights.

There will be actual investigations and mysteries.

There will be martial arts training where improvement has to be earned.

Sumire will become stronger, but raw power will not solve everything.

There will be dangerous yōkai... and people who may be worse.

There will be an insane amount of yuri.

There will be an absurd amount of kissing and cuddling.

There will be jealousy, harem chaos, and increasingly complicated love.

There will be no smut, but there will be non-explicit sex scenes. There’s a difference between the two!

There will be plenty of ecchi fanservice.

The monster inside Sumire did not disappear.

Her family will grow.

A cheap plastic keychain will become a very serious problem for Sumire.

And the future will not be kind enough to wait until Sumire feels ready.

This story will not end with Facing the Future. Book three is not the end of Shinrabansho: Myriad Souls.

The world is only getting larger and more complex.
