Chapter 54 - Final Stage
*Thud*
The beast's body that had no head now fell motionlessly to the floor.
*Ping*

[User has cleared the fourth stage!]
[Would you like to proceed to the next stage? (yes/no)]
"No"
Both Verona and Dant looked around. No one had died this time around. With death in every stage, they had got used to it and had expected to die as well.
Verona clasped her hands. 'Maybe I was wrong.' She thought. She was feeling guilty for misunderstanding Klautz and his intentions.
On the other hand, Dant rejoiced. What he had hoped for… what was his heart's deepest desire had transpired in this stage. How could he not be happy?
'In the next stage, Bret will die. That would be enough to help that man clear that stage. With that, Verona and I would make it out alive.' He grinned… grinned like the devil he was.
This didn't pass unnoticed to Verona. She tilted her head to the right while poking her cheeks with her index finger thinking what might have happened. Dant was under her suspicion since the last stage. She knew something was going on in his head, but she wasn't sure what it was.
'I hope he doesn't get into any sort of trouble,' she thought.
Meanwhile, Dant was thinking of how he would kill Bret.
'Somehow I have to make him fall prey to the beast.' He curled his fingers to a fist.

Klautz curled his hand on top of his mouth to create a cone.
"Everyone move fast we need to move to the next stage as soon as possible," Klautz shouted.
"Next stage?" Bret couldn't understand why Klautz chose to be in such a hurry. His gaze shifted to the body of the sabertooth that was lying beside him. Usually, Klautz always butchers the beast before moving onto the next stage.
Little did he know that Klautz 10 minute stat boosts hadn't ended yet and he wants to take on the 5th boss as soon as possible. Klautz needed no rest to recuperate cause he had already cast a healing wave on himself using the Probationer. He was completely prepared to take on the last stage. But, Bret didn't know this let alone that the next stage was the very last stage.
Klautz ran up to the group.
"Take us to the next stage!"
[Do you wish to proceed to the next stage? (yes/no)]
Bret looked into his eyes trying to read his intentions but sighed.
"Yes," he doesn't care, he won't be able to change a thing anyway.
Klautz made sure that all of them said a 'yes' before he nodded.
"Yes!" Klautz shouted. The binding light wrapped them yet again to teleport them to the next stage.
They appeared in another black room. It was the same as before but it had something too different about it. It had larger dimensions than the previous stages.
"This is the last stage," Dant whispered. Dant's attention switched to Klautz.
He stood in front of them gripping his black and mysterious sword as he held it in front of his face. He had the oppressive battle stance which gave out zeal. In many respects, he looked like them back at the second stage. At that stage, they were on high alert ready to face whatever might come on their way. But now?
Dant turned around switching his focus to Bret and Verona. They had lousy stances and they loosely held onto their weapons. It was as if they had given up on surviving alive from here. Without any way to survive, they were unsure of what they should do.
"There is so much difference," Dant whispered unconsciously.
Klautz and Bret stood in complete contrast to each other. One was full of confidence, the other one had given up on his life. One was ready to face anything while the other one just wanted to get over it.
"It has come," Kluatz said.
With Klautz's remark, Dant's eyes drifted back to the centre of the room. A shining light appeared in the room as it grew more and more.
Dant's eyes shifted left and right. There was something that didn't make any sense.
"Why isn't he going in hiding yet? Has the plan changed or something?"
Little did he know that Klautz had decided to enter the fray from the very beginning cause he had the stat boosts on him for another 5 minutes. Why would he go in hiding when that would only waste his boosted stats? In the next five minutes, it was 'do' or 'die'.
"What should I do now? Should I kill Bret or not?" But this made Dant confused who didn't know about Probationer. To him, it seemed as if Klautz had changed his mind.
'Does he plan to save all of us? How is that possible? Is this the same man that I met at stage 1?' Dant asked some weird questions to himself. Indeed, Klautz had purposely acted haughty and arrogant so that he could avoid their tantrums. People tend to avoid arrogant folks.
The shining light grew more and more as it covered the entire room.
*Poof*
A giant ape emerged from it. It had fiery red skin and sharp canines. Its mouth was glowing in a reddish hue as smoke rose from it. One might mistake it for smoking cigarettes.
"Roar!" it gave out a roar to greet its newfound prey. It puffed its cheeks as it struck out its belly.
Klautz brow furrowed. His instinct was ringing alarms in his head. He knew something was wrong.
"Jump to the left!" Klautz shouted. The sudden appearance of an unknown beast had caught him off guard. They followed Klautz's instructions as their body moved on their own owing to Klautz's oppressive voice.
