Chapter 232 - Crushing Cards And Heads
Klautz's eyes squinted as he watched the two of them sharing their own pile of information. He had no choice but to trust Evelyn for now.
The ninjas of Mizukigakure were unaware of Evelyn's presence so Klautz could only check her out from the corner of the eyes from afar. He had not revealed Evelyn's involvement in the mission to his own teammates for its strategic importance and also because of reasons only known by Klautz.
'It's my time to act.'
Klautz had taken two of the ninjas with him while one of them was on standby for obvious reasons. But unlike Kautz and the ninjas most including Evelyn were unaware of the implications of such an action.
Klautz beckoned the ninjas with his two fingers as he moved in absolute silence from the shadows. Klautz was probably powerless against the ninjas of Kishiogakure.
To the outsider it might seem that he had no role here, except for relying on the ninjas on his side to kill them silently without any noise. But those eyes were probably unaware of the workings of the ninjas
There were things that only Klautz could do. Things that even his regressed strength didn't cause him any weakeror bad in them. And those were 'Planning' and 'Detection.' Even the ninjas who were accompanying Klautz could not fathom how to achieve what he could. Even though we're professionals were noobs in front of his brilliance.
Klautz stumbled upon a half crushed leaf as he moved in sync with the other ninjas. He raised his hand beckoning them to stop. The leaf was small in size but it gave enough details.
'This is not caused by a beast. The shape of the feet is that of a human.'
Klautz's eyes turned in the forward direction.
'That way.'
He beckoned the ninjas again, giving them signals to prepare for an attack. Under Klautz's guidance they soon found the hiding ninja and killed him in a swoop.
*Swish*
Not a single drop of blood came out as the killed ninja bled internally but Klautz wasn't struck with awe. He himself could do so with ease. But, whether he would do so in this life or not was a different question. He was fond of it at all and only used when needed.
Klautz searched the ninja for clues. The clothes were torn apart as a pale body basked in chain armor was revealed. There was nothing on him other than his low tier weapons that didn't even have any passive effects on them..
'This one is a small fry.' Klautz thought as he rolled his eyes. But they soon came back to focus.
The killed ninja might have been on the weaker side but if Klautz had to face him he would have probably had to bet on his life.
As Klautz searched the ninja's hidden pocket there was something that he stumbled upon that caused him to frown. A black card with the letter 'F' imprinted on it in golden letters.
*Crack*
The card crushed under his fist as Klautz's brows knitted together. It was the same card Klautz had received when he had been promoted to an 'F' rank ninja and brought back bad memories.
'How much of a fool was I back then?'
Klautz sighed as he beckoned the ninjas to move again under his guidance. There were no clues or leads to be found on the killed ninja. And Klautz had to find all the other ninjas one by one the old school ways.
*swish*
*thud*
With the sweeping of the blade another one of the ninja died to Klautz and his assault.
"4… 15, this is the 15th one. How many more are there?"
Klautz searched around but he found no clues for the 16th ninja.
'Can't slack off. I have to double check… no, triple check.'
'If even one of them stays alive, it would be a huge mess.'
Klautz wasn't in a situation to afford any problems in the plan. He wanted to destroy them at their very roots. All of the 15 ninjas that Klautz had killed so far were F rank ninjas, which was as Klautz had predicted.
It was common knowledge among the ninjas that only the ninjas with ranks higher or equal to 'C' rank could take client based ninjas. The 'D' rank ninjas on the other hand were reserved for intel collection specific to the requirements of the village. That leaves only the 'E' rank and the 'F' rank ninjas for jobs like the current one.
Even the ninjas under Klautz command were 'E' ranked at most. But had the 15 ninjas attacked them all at once, Klautz would have surely lost to those numbers.
Klautz moved around like a ghost in the shadows looking for clues for more ninjas but he found none. The path was cleared for him.
"Now, let's take down the representative."
Klautz gave directions to the two ninjas as they moved in sync away from him continuing their quest to find for more clues.
Klautz was left all alone. And it was time for Klautz to assault their last target.
***
"So, yeah the target that I had chosen were at it all night refusing to sleep so I couldn't kill them…" Evelyn continued to explain unaware of the results on Klautz side.
There was choke on her throat but she continued nonetheless as her eyes shifted from the representative and into the distance from time to time hoping Klautz to make an appearance.
The man scoffed.
"You take me for a fool. What does it have to do anything with us? Why can't you kill them anyway?"
"Ah, that I can't kill with my ability if the target is awake," Evelyn made a claim that seemed to have no base.
"You could have chosen a different target!"
