Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 201 - A Race To Find

Klautz couldn't help but gulp as his eyes traveled to the wrong places on Verona's body. He felt an urge to play with the twin. But something was holding him back.

Klautz shook his head.

'No… she is mine already. There is nothing wrong with this.' That was the reason Klautz gave himself as his hands slipped inside her shirt grabbing onto her bare breasts.

"Mhmm," she mumbled in her sleep, unaware that she was being taken advantage of.

The sponginess was incomparable to anything else. Klautz hands as if melted away inside the valley with only the pink nipples there to keep him alive in the world of soft flesh.

It was then…

*knock* *knock*

Klautz's ears twitched, causing him to sigh. He pulled out his hand as he handled Verona with care. Slipping out of the bed he lowered her slowly keeping a pillow on her head.

*knock* *knock*

The knocking was getting more and more intense. Klautz could only wonder who it was at this hour of the night. Regardless of the time, Klautz had his guard high.

He walked up to the door swinging it open as he was greeted by Akihiko's face.

Klautz frowned.

"Since when did you start knocking on doors?" Klautz asked with a scoff.

Ever since he had known Akihiko, that man had rarely ever used doors. Klautz had no idea if he was using the window or some other hole somewhere but it was certainly not the door.

"From today," he claimed as he barged in.

Sitting on the sheetless bed beside them, he wiped off the sweat on his forehead.

"So what are you here for?"

Akihiko's hands stopped as his pupils drifted towards Klautz.

"I am here to manage things, to do my job," Akihiko continued. "Have you figured out what is going on yet?" Akihiko asked.

Klautz shook his head.

"I have no idea yet. Though I did plan on making inquiries if I get the time," Klautz continued, "Turns out I can just ask you and satisfy my curiosity."

Klautz wanted information and Akihiko was a good person to draw them out from.

But Klautz didn't lie either. Klautz's schedule was a busy one. And he was yet not sure what all of this mess and fuss was all about.

But was that all?

Klautz was interested enough in this whole mess to skip all of that that he considered important until yesterday. It had picked his interest to such a degree that he couldn't help but keep thinking about it.

'And I am sure Akihiko is thinking along the same lines.'

Akihiko was the type of person who could stalk a newbie for days just because he found his footwork 'interesting and familiar'. Klautz refused to believe that Akihiko wasn't thinking of the murderer.

Back on earth,  one would have probably go through all means to bring a murderer to justice. But in hell? While superficial interest is the same, the smart ones have their own underlying motives.

Akihiko was the same and so was Klautz. Both of them were dyed in the color of hell and couldn't think the normal way. The only one in the room who could was Verona but she was fast asleep.

'And that is why he must not know,' Klautz thought. Klautz was as interested in the killer as Akihiko but for now, his curiosity and interests were properly masked.

Klautz presented a nonchalant attitude towards the whole issue. He wanted to portray that he was uninterested in it as a whole so that Akihiko didn't create more trouble for him. Klautz didn't want to end up wasting his time catching the fish only for Akihiko to reap the benefits.

He might be a mantis hunting for the cicada but he was camouflaged enough to trick the oriole behind.

It was now a race. But Klautz was an invisible runner.

Who would reach the finish line first?

Or would they get killed before reaching there?

'The strength of the attacker is a mystery till now,' Klautz thought.

Akihiko would probably come out with a few injuries at worst. But if Klautz gets caught up with the murderer he might die if does it in the wrong way.

Klautz wasn't even sure if this was his cup of tea. That is why he needs to be on his guard at all times and know when to back off.

"Honestly, all I want is my safety. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered with this issue. The girl who died is no one to me."

Klautz shrugged, raising his shoulders. He might have sounded like a jerk but to the hellsfolk, this line of thinking was pretty normal.

But what Akihiko said next had caught Klautz off guard.

"Tell me, what are you, hiding kid?" Akihiko asked.

Klautz ears twitched. But he didn't waver. Jumping to conclusions and messing up was the last thing he wanted to do.

"Eh? What do you mean?" Klautz asked.

Klautz tilted his head in confusion.

'Did he see through me? Was it so obvious that I was interested in the murderer?' Klautz thought.

Technically, there was no way a newbie like him would have been interested in something like this. That is why Klautz got even more confused as to what Akihiko was referring to.

"I am asking you how did you escape alive? Both of you should have been dead with that girl since you were in the same room. The attacker had never left behind anyone alive in a room. Every time both of the residents were killed together. Yet you lived. Tell me, How did you escape the attack? What was the attacker like?" Akihiko asked.

Klautz tilted his head with question marks on his face.

But horses ran in his brain. Everything became clearer to him. He was wondering why Akihiko even saved him from Gozoto back then. Now the answer has presented itself.

'He wants information on the attacker. That is why he saved me from Gozoto because he didn't want any information to go to him.'

'Damn, he too wants to reap all of it himself!' Klautz thought.

The chronology of the events was now anyone's guess. Had it not been so, Klautz would have been behind the bars by now.
