Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 172 - Misfortune Escaped?

Klautz didn't lie. Humanity needs heroes… They need strength. Only then can they defend against the calamity that would be befalling upon them. But was that Klautz's intention? Did Klautz really believe that Reena could be the one to hold the responsibilities atop her shoulder?

'Only time can tell.'

But even then Klautz had to mention it. For history stands as proof that only those that believed themselves to be special could make any change. Reena too needs to believe in herself.

'As she is now she is like wet mud that can be moulded into any shape.'

The next generation of Hellsfolk are immature. And Klautz might not agree with Ronald on anything else but he agrees on one thing. They need to be shaped.

Did Klautz believe that the right person to shape them? Probably not. He was a bad example.

Klautz words ringed in Reena's ears making him shake in fear. There was a sense of confidence in Klautz's voice that would make anyone feel that he was 100 percent sure of it! And why would he not? He had experienced it first hand.

She shook her head.

"I… I don't think I am cut out for this," she voiced her concern.

'Of course she isn't'

Klautz smirked.

"Just focus on what you do best, do you hear? Focus on survival and increasing your strength!"

Klautz Reena of his grandplan in less than 10 words! Isn't that what he had been doing until now? For all words and guidance are useless without strength. At the end of the day, if you can return home alive you have won the day!

And isn't that the talent that Reena possessed? Isn't that what caught onto his eyes? Isn't that what he admired about her? There might be a multitude of people with different talents. If that was really the case. Then Reena's talent was 'survival'.

The phrase 'survival of the fittest' is delusional. For you can be fit in something else and yet be unable to survive. It is only those that are suited to the wilderness that survive in such situations. Both Reena and Klautz were one of them.

He reached out his hand as she patted on her head making her blush.

"Just focus on growth and staying alive."

"I will," she whispered, looking down towards the floor.

Surviving till now had taken a lot of toll on her till now. She had been shunned, abandoned, driven. What more was lying in wait for her? It was always a bumpy ride. Yet she refused to be broken and kept moving forward.

Before she had even realized Klautz drew in closer to her ears. His breath was hitting her ear drums making her flinch.

"Did you tell them what class you possess?" Klautz whispered.

The air around him suddenly turned gloomy. This was something that Klautz had been concerned about since he had lost contact with the others for good enough reasons.

Klautz was asking it just to confirm. After all, Reena standing in front of her in full flesh itself was enough to point out that she hadn't revealed it.

'Anyone who reveals it has one hell of a mess waiting for him,' Klautz thought.

*Gulp*

But contrary to his expectations Reena nodded her head.

Klautz's eyes shot out wide.

'How can that be possible?'

"I did. Is that something wrong?"

Klautz held onto his chin. He couldn't help but be shocked and intrigued at the same time. He wasn't the only one bearing a demonic class. While bearing a totally unknown class never seen before can be nice. But it can turn into a double edged sword.

The Residents won't let the holder rest in peace once they know of its existence.

`How is she standing in one piece if they know about her class?' Klautz thought.

For all Klautz knew was that she should be detained and taken away already.

Klautz had seen Reena's class before. It was something along the lines of "Dark Paladin". It wasn't supposed to be a class that should exist. If they know about her class how could she still be safe?

"So did they tell you anything?" Klautz asked. He just lacked any concrete information to make any deductions.

But she shook her head denying it completely.

"No they didn't."

Yet again Klautz had found another variable. Something that didn't happen how he had predicted it should. What kind of ulterior motives did they have?

Klautz frowned. His fingers circled against the palm of his hand as he seemed dazed in thought.

'How could that have been possible? Never before have I heard of an incident where a newbie with new powers was spared. Hell, even Ronald can't do anything about it when such a person is spotted.'

Little did Klautz know that Steve and Bill were already detained. They too held similar demonic classes. Holding powers that no one had seen before had led them to their doom. But how did Reena escape such a fortune? Only she knew or probably even she didn't. If her claims were true.

"Mister?"

Reena's voice caused Klautz to come out of his dazed state as he was finally brought back to reality.

"Keep an eye on everything. Always be vigilant. Things are not what they seem" Klautz whispered in Reena's ears warning her. "If you find something suspicious do not shy away to inform me."

These were things that Reena probably already knew. How could a child like her survive if she didn't? But Klautz repeated it nonetheless.

Klautz passed onto his room number just in case. Reena accepted without any qualms.

"It's already late. Go back to your room if you don't want to gather unwanted attention," saying so Klautz left.

As he left Reena's eyes followed him. Klautz lifted his hand and waved at her without even turning around knowing that she would have her eyes on him.
