Chapter 466: Convocation Day(1)
The sleek black sedan glided smoothly along the wide, tree-lined avenue leading toward Blackwood University.
Alex sat in the backseat with Sarah and Danny, while Mike gripped the steering wheel, guiding them with focused excitement.
The air inside the car was thick with a mix of excitement and nostalgia.
"Man, I can’t believe it’s actually here," Mike said, grinning as he adjusted his graduation cap on his lap. "Four years of grinding, and today we finally get the damn degree."
Sarah laughed, her voice thick with emotion.
"Feels like just yesterday we were freshers sneaking into lectures. Now look at us... about to walk out as official Blackwood alumni."
Alex looked at each of them, a genuine smile softening his features.
"We’ve come a long way," he said quietly, his tone warm yet steady. He glanced at their faces one by one before adding with a light chuckle, "Today is our day. Enjoy it however you can... but don’t forget — from tomorrow, you’ll have to start your real training."
Everyone burst into laughter.
"Yeah, we know, we know," Danny replied, shaking his head with a grin. "But let us have today first, coach."
Alex leaned back slightly in his seat, calm but with clear excitement shining in his eyes.
As the grand university gates came into view, memories flooded him. He remembered his initial days... the mix of disbelief and fear when he learned he had been selected for Blackwood.
An elite institution reserved mostly for the rich and powerful, with only a handful of scholarships for truly exceptional talent. He had been poor and orphaned, wondering how someone like him could possibly cope among the elite.
Those early years had been harsh. He was bullied from time to time... subtle jabs, isolation, and power plays meant to remind him of his place. But he had refused to fight back, knowing the consequences in a place like this.
Rules existed in Blackwood, of course... but they were always for the weak. The strong never truly followed them.
But... Everything had changed the day he met Lilith.
His entire life had flipped upside down after that.
A single drop of tear appeared in the corner of Alex’s eye as another memory surfaced — Sophia.
How foolishly he had interacted with her during that short period of dating. He had truly believed he was someone special to her, lost in the illusion of affection... until it nearly got him killed.
He blinked the tear away quickly before anyone noticed, pushing the old pain down.
That Chapter was behind him now.
Today was about closure.
The long-stuck mission that had burned in the back of his mind for months was finally ready to be completed.
A cold, quiet resolve settled over him. Marcus and his group... the ones who had orchestrated his suffering, who had played their little games thinking he was just another disposable pawn... would remember this day for the rest of their lives.
And the sweetest part? The one who would help him drive the knife deepest was none other than Sophia herself.
Then only you’ll truly understand the pain of getting stabbed in the back, Alex thought, his expression remaining perfectly composed as the car turned the final bend. A faint, dangerous smile touched his lips.

The car turned the final bend, and the full grandeur of the convocation setup unfolded before them.
They all fell silent for a moment.
The entire central campus had been transformed into something extraordinary... lavish gold and black banners bearing the Blackwood crest fluttered from every archway and lamp post.
Massive floral arrangements in rich crimson and cream lined the pathways, while elegant silk canopies and crystal accents created an atmosphere that felt less like a university ceremony and more like an exclusive high-society gala.
"Damn..." Mike whispered. "They really went all out."
The parking areas were packed with luxury vehicles, yet the university’s staff managed everything with flawless precision.
Dedicated zones for students and separate luxurious areas for guests and parents made the process effortless. They were smoothly guided into the student-designated parking area by attentive staff in crisp uniforms.
"Welcome, graduates," one attendant said with polished courtesy as they stepped out. "Congratulations on reaching this milestone at Blackwood."
The group stood together, gowns draped over their arms, taking in the opulent scene. The emotional weight of the moment settled over them... this extravagant celebration marked the true end of their shared journey.
Alex adjusted his robe, his expression composed once more. The past had shaped him, but today was the threshold to whatever came next.
The group walked along the wide, flower-lined path toward the Grand Convocation Hall, their black gowns draped over their arms. Alex’s sharp eyes scanned the surroundings.
Students were already everywhere... clusters of graduates laughing and taking photos with their proud parents.
Elegant mothers in designer dresses hugged their children tightly, while fathers in tailored suits patted shoulders and boasted about future plans. The air was filled with joyful chatter, camera clicks, and the occasional burst of emotional laughter.
It was a picture-perfect elite gathering — wealth, privilege, and celebration on full display.
Alex checked his watch. There was still plenty of time before the main ceremony began. He slipped his hands into his pockets, staying quiet as the others continued talking excitedly.
Suddenly, Mike’s phone rang. He answered quickly, his face lighting up.
"Yeah... we’re already here. Okay, coming!" Mike hung up and grinned at the group. "Our parents are here. They just arrived at the guest parking area. Come on, let’s go welcome them."
The four of them turned toward the luxurious gated section reserved for guests and parents.
The university staff had arranged everything flawlessly... valet attendants directing high-end cars, shaded waiting zones, and clear pathways separating student and guest areas.
As they reached the parent parking zone, they spotted them immediately.
Danny’s parents stepped out of a sleek Mercedes. Danny rushed forward, hugging them both tightly.
"Mom, Dad! You made it," Danny said, voice thick with emotion.
From behind them, a cheerful laugh rang out as Nina stepped out of the car, looking radiant in a elegant summer dress. Danny’s younger sister bounced forward with bright energy.
"Brother, congratulations!" she exclaimed, but instead of going straight to Danny, she made a beeline toward Alex. She threw her arms around him in a quick, affectionate hug.
"And you too, Big Brother!"
Alex looked at her lovingly and smiled, a rare soft warmth touching his expression. "Thank you, Nina."
He then turned to Linda and David, who were watching with fond smiles.
"Thanks, Mom. Thanks, Dad," Alex said sincerely.
Linda pulled him into a warm motherly embrace while David gave him a firm, proud handshake and a pat on the back.
"You’ve both grown into fine young men," David said. "We’re incredibly proud of you, Alex. Today is a big day for our family."
Sarah’s parents were waiting nearby... her father, a respected lawyer, and her mother, who immediately pulled Sarah into a warm embrace, brushing a tear from her eye.
"Look at you... our girl is graduating from Blackwood," Sarah’s mother whispered proudly.
Mike’s parents arrived in a luxury SUV. His father clapped him on the back with a hearty laugh, while his mother adjusted his collar affectionately.
And right behind them, Mike’s girlfriend... a beautiful young woman in a stylish dress... stepped forward with a bright smile and wrapped her arms around Mike’s neck.
"You look so handsome today," she teased, kissing his cheek.
Mike laughed, clearly overjoyed. "Couldn’t have done it without you guys."
Alex stood a little behind the group, watching the warm reunions with a calm smile on his face.
He offered polite congratulations and handshakes as the parents greeted him too... they had met him a few times before through the group.
"Alex, my boy! You’ve come so far," Mike’s father said, giving him a firm handshake.
"We’re proud of all of you."
Sarah’s mother pulled him into a quick hug as well. "Don’t be a stranger after today, okay? You’re family too."
Alex nodded graciously, exchanging pleasantries with everyone.
For a brief moment, he let genuine warmth show on his face — laughing at a joke from Mike’s father, complimenting Sarah’s mother on her dress, and ruffling Nina’s hair when she teased him again. The joy around him was real, and he allowed himself to feel a small part of it.
After a few more minutes of light conversation and photos, the group started moving back toward the main hall together, parents joining the graduates.
The ceremony was drawing closer.
As they approached the grand entrance, Alex’s sharp eyes caught sight of a more exclusive section reserved for certain high-profile families.
There, standing with an air of effortless superiority, were Tyler and Robert, flanked by their parents — clearly wealthy and influential figures judging by the way staff hovered around them attentively.
Tyler noticed Alex first. A sly smile spread across his face. He nudged Robert, and the two of them, along with their parents, began walking over as if they were old friends.
"Alex! My man!" Tyler called out loudly, his tone dripping with fake camaraderie. He spread his arms dramatically. "Look at you, all dressed up. Congratulations. You actually made it to the finish line."
Robert chuckled beside him, flashing a polished smile toward Alex’s group. "Yeah, congrats to all of you. Especially the ones who had to work for it." He turned to his parents smoothly.
"Mom, Dad — these are some of our... classmates. Alex here is quite the story. Came from nothing and still managed to graduate. Inspirational, right?"
Their parents offered polite but condescending nods and half-smiles, clearly sizing up Alex and his friends like they were curious exhibits.
Mike and the others returned the greetings awkwardly, trying to keep things civil. Sarah forced a smile. Danny shifted uncomfortably.
But Alex knew exactly what this was.
Mockery wrapped in fake friendliness. The same old game the elite played — reminding the scholarship kids of their place even on a day like this.
Tyler and Robert were enjoying themselves, subtly putting on a show for their parents while digging at the group.
Alex’s expression remained calm and composed. He didn’t rise to the bait. No sharp words. No visible anger.
He simply gave a small, polite nod.
"Enjoy the ceremony," he said evenly, his voice steady.
