She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 206 - 143: Addictive Poison (Part 4)
Upon approaching, Eleven dismounted and greeted respectfully with a smile on his face.
"Hello, miss. I’ve returned."
"Eleven, it’s good that you’re back. How did you find this place?" Han Lei asked with a slight smile.
"I brought them here!" A crisp voice came from the carriage.
Soon after, Zhao Ling’er leaped out of the carriage, as light as a swallow.
Behind her, Ms. Li also slowly got off the carriage, holding a bundle in her hand.
"Sister-in-law, mother asked me to bring you and Tianyou some food," Zhao Ling’er said with a playful smile on her face.
Han Lei nodded, signaling them to wait a moment, then turned to Eleven: "How did that matter go?"
Eleven straightened his expression and replied, "For more than half a month, I’ve ridden through every county in Jingzhou, asking quite a few people to spread the word in various villages. Some people have already started moving towards Canzhou, and it shouldn’t be long before more struggling military spouses and beggars arrive."
Just then, Hua Tianyou finished his training and came over.
Seeing Zhao Ling’er, his face lit up with joy: "Ling’er, how come you’re here?"
Zhao Ling’er pointed at Eleven and Ms. Li, laughing: "Mother asked me to bring them over and also brought you some food."
With that, she handed a packet of snacks to Hua Tianyou, her cheeks slightly blushing.
Hua Tianyou glanced at Han Lei and the others, who were busy talking. He took the snacks with a gentle tone.
"Come, let’s eat over there, you have some too."
The two of them walked side by side to a grassy area, sat down, and chatted while eating. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.
After asking about Eleven’s situation, Han Lei looked at Ms. Li.
"Ms. Li, things are chaotic here. Why didn’t you stay home to rest, but came here instead?"
Ms. Li rubbed her hands awkwardly, lowering her eyes.
"I’ve been freeloading at home for half a month now, and I feel bad about it. So I thought I’d come and ask the Princess Consort if she could give me some work, or I could help you out."
Han Lei thought for a moment, recalling that poultry and pig farms were being set up, then nodded in agreement.
"Alright, you can stay by my side. Start by helping with the cooks for the laborers, and in your spare time, watch some modern farming videos to learn some skills for the future."
Upon hearing this, Ms. Li showed a grateful expression and nodded repeatedly: "Okay, I’ll learn well, I won’t trouble you."
Han Lei smiled slightly, patting her on the shoulder: "No need to be so polite, we’re all family."
"Oh, right." Han Lei suddenly remembered Ms. Li’s son’s injured leg, and said apologetically: "I’ve been too busy lately. Once things here settle, I’ll treat Dongzi’s leg."
"No rush, no rush," Ms. Li waved her hand quickly, afraid of burdening Han Lei further.
Just knowing that Han Lei was thinking about Dongzi’s leg made her very happy.
During her time with the Zhao family, she heard from the trusted aides and servants about Han Lei’s extraordinary medical skills, and she believed Han Lei would surely heal Dongzi’s leg.
However, during the carriage ride to Canzhou, Han Lei mentioned that Dongzi’s leg hadn’t been properly treated and had grown crooked, requiring re-breaking to reset it.
Such an unheard-of treatment method made her realize it would take a long time and filled her with fear, so she didn’t want to rush Han Lei.
While Han Lei was talking to Ms. Li, nearby Zhao Ling’er and Hua Tianyou were chatting about something, their laughter carried by the wind, and the sunshine on the grassy field painted a warm scene.
Suddenly, Han Lei frowned slightly.
She quickly picked up the binoculars to look towards the official road in the distance.
Through the lenses, she saw the Xuzhou Army unit that went to support Beiguan days ago. Leading them was the Song family’s youngest son—Song Yuanqing.
After confirming that there was no sign of Zhao Zun and his trusted aides around Song Yuanqing, Han Lei’s charming face broke into a broad smile.
"Tianyou. Later, you will be responsible for sending Ling’er and others back. Remember to train the new soldiers well each day, I have to go meet the Prince."
Han Lei said with exceptional excitement.
