Shattered Fate

65~ I will Kill You Again and Again

  • Next Chapter

Wail's electric aura erupted, and he shot toward Heda at tremendous speed. She was the same girl he had sent flying into the sky earlier. Electricity gathered around his fist, but just as he approached her, an orange barrier appeared in his path.

Heda taunted him.

"Do you really intend to defeat me without transforming?"

"Your confidence in your own strength is blinding you, Heda..."

He then turned toward Evelyn.

"If it weren't for your friend, your head would already have been smashed to pieces."

"I suggest you transform before..."

Heda didn't get to finish her sentence. Wail suddenly rushed toward Evelyn.

Her eyes widened as orange energy began glowing from her hands. The moment Wail arrived and threw his punch, a small barrier appeared in front of her, taking the blow in her place.

Evelyn used the barrier to block a barrage of attacks before retreating, panting heavily.

"You... You've gotten stronger since the last time we met, haven't you?"

"You won't find out if you keep running away like this."

Suddenly, Wail leaned his head back, narrowly avoiding a surprise punch from Heda, who had attacked him from behind. At the same moment, Evelyn kicked him. He blocked the kick, but its force pushed him backward.

The two attacked him together, while he focused on defending himself and evading their strikes. Then his eyes suddenly narrowed.

"Evelyn, get back!"

The two girls vanished from sight.

A golden aura emerged from Wail's body as his hair gradually turned gold.

Heda spoke mockingly.

"Just the Golden Form? Aren't you going to use your Elemental Transformation?"

"That depends on how strong you two are."

Heda laughed, but her smile quickly faded.

"Oh, right... Neither of you has an element. You only have Raw Energy, don't you?"

Electricity gathered in Wail's hand as he prepared to unleash it toward Heda, but it dissipated before he could direct it at her.

He turned and discovered that Evelyn had suppressed it using her control over Raw Energy.

He looked back at Heda.

"Get out of my way, Evelyn."

A massive lightning bolt shot toward Evelyn, and the impact caused a tremendous explosion. Meanwhile, Wail charged toward Heda and unleashed a barrage of attacks.

Heda shouted excitedly.

"Now we're talking!"

Her Bloody Eyes began to glow.

Wail realized she was preparing to use her ability, but he had no idea what it was. Nevertheless, he continued his assault, ending it with a lightning strike that engulfed her in an explosion.

He then leaped into the air, evading an orange beam fired by Evelyn, before instantly appearing in front of her and punching her in the stomach.

At the same moment, he returned to Heda, who emerged from the explosion covered in blood, and struck her with his elbow.

He then teleported back to Evelyn and hurled her toward Heda before attacking both of them simultaneously.

Suddenly, a purple aura erupted around Heda.

Wail abandoned her companion and turned toward her. He spotted a black blade marked with purple cracks, but he was too fast for her to attack him. Before she could use the blade, he grabbed her arm and broke it, then kicked her away.

Electric threads emerged from the ground and wrapped around her, pinning her in place.

On the other side, Evelyn watched in astonishment before recalling a conversation they had shared earlier.

Heda had explained with confidence,

"My ability begins working as soon as I start fighting an opponent. After one minute, it completes its activation."

Evelyn had replied,

"So we only need one minute to defeat him? That's easy!"

The scene returned to the present.

Evelyn looked at Wail, uneasiness creeping into her voice.

"D-Do we have to fight that thing for a whole minute?"

At that moment, a massive lightning bolt gathered in the sky above Heda.

Evelyn continued anxiously,

"He wasn't this strong the last time... What happened to him?"

Wail's cold voice came from behind her.

"It's not that I wasn't this strong before... You simply defeated me before I had the chance to show it."

Evelyn spun around and fired a beam of orange energy, but Wail was no longer there.

He had leaped above her.

"Wait a minute. Did you really defeat me?"

A cold smile appeared on his face.

"No... You just took me by surprise."

He landed on Evelyn with tremendous force, then grabbed her by the hair and slowly lifted her up while raising his other arm toward the sky.

"Watch this."

He brought his hand down.

The lightning bolt descended toward Heda, triggering a huge explosion. The blast was so devastating that no one could possibly have survived it.

But Wail was taken aback.

Heda's presence had vanished completely.

Suddenly, blood spilled from his mouth, and a sharp pain struck his back.

He slowly turned around, but there was no one behind him. Nevertheless, something had pierced his back.

He spun around and swung his leg, but his kick struck nothing. In the next instant, a punch hit him in the face, sending him flying backward to a mountain.

Evelyn smiled provocatively, though her voice trembled.

"We did it... You did it, Heda!"

Wail emerged from the smoke and wiped the blood from his mouth.

He tried to sense the energy around him, but he couldn't detect Heda at all. Evelyn's energy was the only presence he could feel.

He flew upward, only to be struck in the stomach by another sudden blow. He recoiled in shock and unleashed lightning in every direction, but none of his attacks hit anything.

Then his right shoulder was slashed, followed by another attack that struck his face and sent him crashing into the ground.

Evelyn laughed loudly.

"Ooooh, Wail... You're about to lose again!"

His Elemental Transformation erupted, scattering the dust around him.

"It seems she activated her Bloody Eyes somehow... I'll assume they allow her to conceal her presence completely."

Evelyn replied mockingly,

"Well, what are you going to do now that you've figured that out?"

Wail looked at her with a chillingly cold expression.

"Nothing... You're the only enemy I can see right now."

Panic spread across Evelyn's face.

Before she could comprehend what he meant, Wail appeared in front of her, leaving a fissure in the ground from the sheer force of his speed.

He threw a punch at her, but another strike blocked it out of nowhere.

"I expected that!"

Wail unleashed a massive beam of electricity at the exact moment his punch was stopped.

When the effects of the attack cleared, a deep gash had appeared in his arm, forcing him to retreat once again.

"So she can disappear completely... There's no point in attacking her directly."

He intensified the aura surrounding his transformation and began walking toward Evelyn.

The attacks continued to strike him, leaving scratches and wounds across his body. Yet he endured the pain and kept moving without stopping.

Evelyn fell to the ground in terror.

"What exactly are you?! How did you become this strong?!"

Wail reached her and stood firmly before her, despite the blows raining down on him from every direction.

"I turned everything that happened to me into a reason to become stronger... Two pieces of trash like you won't stop me."

He extended his hand toward her, gathering energy to unleash a lightning beam that would end her life.

"You should have run when you had the chance... Goodbye."

"Huh?"

The beam suddenly vanished, and Wail's eyes widened.

He looked down at his chest and saw a black and purple chain piercing his heart.

His transformation faded, and his body nearly collapsed. But something caught him by the neck.

Heda had finally appeared.

However, a sharp pain struck her eyes, causing her smile to disappear.

"Damn it..."

Evelyn forced a nervous smile.

"Why? We... We finished him, didn't we?"

Heda answered in an exhausted voice.

"I told you... All we need is one minute of fighting him. Once my ability to conceal my presence activates, it's over. And no one can stop the anti-element chains."

She threw Wail's body to the ground before continuing.

"But I wanted to enjoy torturing him... Our plan was to learn about his memories and manipulate them using your ability."

Evelyn smiled.

"More importantly... How did you know this would work?"

"Huh? What do you mean? It's obvious. My ability is absolute. It completely conceals my presence from my opponent, while others can still sense my energy. Honestly, I wanted us to work together to defeat him, but I managed to do it on my own..."

The two girls laughed for a moment before preparing to leave.

Suddenly...

They both froze.

A voice came from behind them.

"So, those are your abilities? Not bad. I would have lost if..."

The two girls quickly backed away.

Heda shouted,

"You bastard! How are you still alive?! What the...?!"

She stopped when she saw the previous corpse fading away, transforming into electrical energy that flowed into Wail's palm.

He looked at her coldly.

"I used a clone to fight you the moment I activated my Elemental Transformation... It's simple, but anyone can be fooled by it."

He then gave her a cold smile.

"More importantly... Why are you running away when you want to kill me? You won't do that by running."

Suddenly, everything came to a halt.

Wail appeared in front of Heda and placed his hand on her face.

"See? I can reach you from anywhere in an instant."

A massive electrical current surged from his arm into her body, and her screams echoed through the area as she writhed in agony.

Evelyn screamed,

"Hedaaaa! You bastard...!"

But she couldn't finish her sentence. Wail appeared in front of her and grabbed her by the head.

She tried to push him away, but his grip didn't budge.

He spoke to her.

"Heda mentioned that your ability has something to do with memories... I might need you in the future. I also want to know where your companions are."

Evelyn shouted furiously,

"To hell with you! As if I'd ever help you!"

"Oh, you definitely will."

He teleported beside Heda, whose body had been charred by the lightning.

Evelyn rushed toward her friend, hoping to heal her, but Wail grabbed her hand.

"It's pointless... She's going to die anyway."

"What are you talking about? I can still heal her! Let go of my hand!"

Wail shot her a sharp look, and she froze in place, falling silent.

He then approached Heda and crouched beside her.

She was struggling to breathe and tried to say something, but Wail placed his hand over her mouth.

The veins in his hand bulged as steam began rising from it due to the heat.

He spoke in a low voice.

"You want revenge? But I'm going to kill you now... I'll kill you again if you come back... And I'll kill you once more when I catch up with you."

For a moment, red and black electrical sparks flickered around his arm.

Then he drove a powerful punch into her face, splattering blood.

"This is for everything you did to me..."

He followed it with an even stronger punch.

"And this is for my mother!"

Then he struck her again.

"And this is for Layla, and for everything you did to her!"

His punches continued, each one growing stronger than the last, until Heda's head was completely crushed.

Evelyn dropped to her knees, unable to comprehend what she was witnessing. She watched her friend being brutally murdered before her eyes, powerless to do anything.

Wail finally stood up and wiped his eyes.

"Are these... tears?"

He paused, then shook his head.

"No, no... It's just blood. This piece of shit could never make me cry."

He turned toward Evelyn.

"You're coming with me, and you're going to tell me everything you know."

Evelyn covered her mouth, afraid to utter a single word in front of him.

She no longer feared Wail alone...

She feared the thing standing before her.
