Chapter 1791 - 557: Memorial Service (Part 4)
“Wow, so much good wine!”
Su Ming was also slightly taken aback. Why did Principal Mirrog come here?
When Mia saw it was Mirrog, her face immediately darkened, and she spoke impatiently.
“What are you doing here? I didn’t invite you.”
“You didn’t invite me, but Su Ming did, right?”
Mirrog looked at Su Ming with a grin.
“Oh, right, right! I invited Mr. Mirrog. I really appreciate what you did last time.”
Su Ming immediately understood and quickly thanked Mirrog.
“No need to thank me! Wow, this is really good wine!”
Mirrog then picked up the most expensive bottle of red wine there, opened it, and took a large gulp straight from the bottle.
Seeing Mirrog’s look of enjoyment, Mia couldn’t help but feel annoyed. She then picked up two bottles of wine, stood up, and said with a cold snort.
“I’m going to drink at another table!”
“Ms. Mia, let’s talk this out.”
Su Ming quickly called out to Mia.
Unfortunately, she didn’t give Su Ming any face and walked away to a booth in the distance.
Seeing Mia leave, Mirrog also sighed helplessly.
“Sigh~”
“Mr. Mirrog, what’s going on between you and Ms. Mia? Why is your relationship so bad?”
Su Ming was very puzzled and asked.
Although he knew their relationship was not good back then, he didn’t think it was this bad.
Hearing Su Ming’s inquiry, Mirrog showed a guilty expression and said with a sigh.
“Our relationship is so bad, not because of Mia, but because I owe her.”
“Can you tell me about it?”
“It’s not that I can’t tell you. This matter has to be explained starting from the time when the Heavenly Revelation Divine Country and the Dark Star Empire split.”
“Ah? This matter is related to them?”
Su Ming asked in surprise.
“Yes, back then, when the Federation split into three, the Imperial Court Academy also split into three. Dragon String Council President decided to form an Expedition Army to reclaim the Dark Star Empire and the Heavenly Revelation Divine Country! I was one of the supporters of that expedition and even formed an academy unit led by Mia’s parents! At the time, Mia’s parents were strongly opposed, believing that the Imperial Court Academy was a place for teaching and shouldn’t be involved. However, I insisted, and eventually, Mia’s parents sacrificed themselves during the expedition. This hit her very hard, so it’s understandable that she resents me.”
Mirrog said with deep emotion.
“This matter isn’t completely your fault. You didn’t expect things to turn out this way. But why were you so determined to go on the expedition back then? It couldn’t have been just because of the academy’s split, right?”
Su Ming asked, puzzled.
He felt that Principal Mirrog wasn’t a narrow-minded person.
“Why would I go on an expedition for such reasons? The real reason I supported the expedition was because I didn’t want humanity to remain divided. I wanted humanity to become a whole, united, so that we could better fight against the Alien Race and survive! Imagine if the Dark Star and Heavenly Revelation hadn’t split off, then whether it was the Neutral Country or Saint Joex and the Shabask Kingdom, they would all be one with the Federation. How much better would the Federation have developed over these years? There wouldn’t be any wars between us, and soldiers wouldn’t die! Do you think we’d still be afraid of the Chilami Clan and the Mechanical Clan?”
Principal Mirrog looked at Su Ming and asked.
“It makes sense. If that were really the case, today, it wouldn’t be us taking the hits, but us going on expeditions against them.”
After hearing Mirrog’s words, Su Ming thought carefully, and it seemed to make sense. If the Federation were still the Federation it used to be, how strong would the military be now?
“You’re right, but there are so many ’ifs’ in this world.”
Principal Mirrog sighed and said.
“Mr. Mirrog, don’t be too disheartened. How about I try to persuade her for you later?”
Su Ming said to Mirrog.
“Ahem, Fleck was right, you’re really quite something. Can you do me a favor?”
Mirrog coughed a few times, looking weary, and said.
“Sure.”
Su Ming said respectfully.
“I’m getting old, and there are a lot of things I really can’t handle anymore. Please take this key and give it to Mia for me.”
Mirrog took out a mecha key and handed it to Su Ming.
“Okay.”
Su Ming took the key and nodded.
Mirrog patted Su Ming on the shoulder, then stood up, grabbed three bottles of wine, and left desolately.
Su Ming watched Mirrog’s lonely back, feeling conflicted as he looked at the key in his hand, then got up and walked towards Mia.
At this moment, Mia was sitting alone on a booth, drinking in silence.
Su Ming sat down beside her and handed the key to Mia.
“Ms. Mia, this is something Mr. Mirrog left for you.”
Mia looked at the pitch-black key but didn’t take it. She just silently poured another glass of wine and drank it all in one go.
Su Ming sighed and said.
“Ms. Mia, Mr. Mirrog really regrets things now. He didn’t expect things to turn out that way back then, and he had his reasons.”
After listening to Su Ming, Mia put down her glass, remained silent for a few seconds, and then said.
“I know. When I was young, I didn’t understand and really hated him. But as I grew up, how could I not understand?”
“Ah? Then why are you still so mad at him?”
Su Ming was taken aback by Mia’s response.
“That’s still because he competes with me for drinks. He always picks the most expensive ones first, which is not fair. And every time there’s good wine at home, he drinks it all.”
Mia pretended to be very annoyed as she spoke.
